Re: How Did Nintendo Do At This Year's Golden Joystick Awards?

Aviator

@TrueWiiMaster "Uncharted Golden Abyss beating out all those 3DS games is just ridiculous. There's no doubt in my mind that Mario 3D Land should have beaten it, not to mention Revelations, Mario Kart, and Kid Icarus. The fact that they chose such an undeserving title as portable game of the year discredits the whole list for me."

then you ruined what you said by saying this.

"Now, I haven't personally played it, but it's scores weren't impressive, nor was the gameplay I've seen."

Seriously, I get it. People like Nintendo games. But what's the point criticising games that you yourself haven't personally played. Every game experience is different to everybody, so basing an award, which is voted for by the public, on the opinions of a few people who write reviews is a bit silly now isn't it.

(That also goes for everyone else who hasn't played it and is critcising it.)

Extra content being everything that is already avaliable in the game but being outsourced to the gamepad.

He is right. But hey, the fanboy's ain't gonna listen, so what's the point.

(Also, I have two games for launch, NL and Mario, but other than that it's bare bones until Monster Hunter).

Re: Talking Point: The Message in "I'm Not a Gamer" Commercials

I was going to write something completly different before I did a bit of research, then I found this.
“They know firsthand how Nintendo 3DS can keep them entertained and engaged wherever they go. We think young girls and women of all ages will enjoy hearing what they have to say about their favorite games and activities on Nintendo 3DS.”
(Source: http://www.sys-con.com/node/2365637)

So yeah, as an advertisement campaign, it was good. Seeing it now as an advertisement campaign for women, not so great.

Re: Talking Point: The Message in "I'm Not a Gamer" Commercials

Aviator

@ajcismo You don't need a commercial because you have been buying Nintendo for the past 25 years.

They don't need advertisements to bring 'hardcore gamers' back. Advertisements are for people who don't know what it is Nintendo are trying to sell. They are to inform the uninformed.

Re: Talking Point: The Message in "I'm Not a Gamer" Commercials

They're selling the 3DS as 'Play as you are'.

They're not saying gamers can only play the 3DS, they're saying everyone/anyone can play it.

It's a smart campaign that fails to attract the audience it deserves, because people hold onto this ideal that advertising something that is foreign to them (ie the Trendsetting game) seems to challenge their perception of why they game, when it shouldn't really matter to them.

Re: Kevin Butler Actor Seen Near Wii Console... Sony Takes Him to Court

Also, this title is precisely why Sony is suing Mr. Lambert.

Headline wrote:

Kevin Butler Actor Seen Near Wii Console... Sony Takes Him to Court

He is not seen as Jerry Lambert, but rather Kevin Butler.
"We invested significant resources in bringing the Kevin Butler character to life and he’s become an iconic personality directly associated with PlayStation products over the years."

It's not a stupid move by Sony's part.

Any company would fight to protect their IPs.

Imagine if Charles Martinet used his Mario voice to sell Kinect Voice Control. Nintendo would sue Microsoft, and yet a lot of people on this site would approve of what Nintendo was doing.
