Owned two of the Collector's Editions of the game. Paid 60 for the first one from GameStop. (Was shocked to see it there at all.), and kept it. Found somebody selling a second copy a few years later for $20, which I bought and resold for about $70.
Still have a copy on display in my gaming shrine.
Glad to see that people can play the incredible rerelease, now.
FYI: If you go the Best Buy route, and make your more expensive 3DS game $39.99 (Fantasy Life, anyone?), you can sign up for their Gamers Club Unlocked for only $30, and get 20% off of both games right away, plus 20% off all games for 2 years.
While Nintendo says no to the Binding of Isaac, we have these totally not at all mature, religion referencing, and definitely children friendly Shin Megami Tensei games on the 3DS and eShop...
Because hey, who needs logic in acceptable content policies, right?
I own this on my Vita, and have been considering picking it up on the PC as well. A very solid music game with a great soundtrack and unique visuals. It's fairly challenging as well, though certainly not impossible.
While I do loathe the new sprites with a passion, I am not entirely against the idea of a new, better translation...
It's not shown in any of the screenshots here, but the new art shown during conversations isn't too bad; it looks similar to the style of classic FF box art.
That being said, the version of FF VI I already own for my PSX will be more than enough for me.
I think the reason why the Vita version is a lower stretch goal is because adapting the game to the Vita hardware is much easier for a touch/mouse based interface, regardless of the engine. The entirety of the Vita's screen is touch, and multitouch, just like an iOS/Android/PC, so it wouldn't require changing in game assets and design to work with a dual screen setup where you need to have assets split between different areas with different functionality.
"The latter is being developed by Firebrand Games of NASCAR Unleashed, Need for Speed: The Run, Trackmania and Fast & Furious: Showdown fame" Well... There goes my hope.
First year since joining the Club that I didn't make Plat or Gold... Unless all my unredeemed games will get me to Gold... Been spending all my money on PC. D:
@element187 I know what you're talking about. And I hadn't even thought of it that way, it works without being lore breaking. (Not that Fire Emblem or SMT have much in the way of strong, connected lore)
The menu based navigation has been a Shin Megami Tensei staple for a long time, even after 3D environs and such became the norm. I'd be sad if they got rid of them.
@Pixel-Perfect Should they be? Nintendo gamers aren't going out of their way to help Ubisoft accomplish the most basic goal of being a business, and Ubisoft should just ignore that need for profits to appease one fanbase in gaming?
Owning both a Vita and a 3DS myself, and playing both considerably, I really don't get all the hate people are heaping on it. Yes, its library isn't as large as that of the 3DS, and yes the upcoming titles are slim at best, but it packs in a lot of amazing game experiences that the 3DS doesn't have as well. Many of the Vita's problems are the same as the problems the 3DS has/had. In my opinion it seems most publishers have abandoned the idea of handheld gaming in favor of phones and tablets almost wholesale, and that's the reason why the massive boom that the DS and PSP had in terms of support hasn't appeared. The gaming landscape has changed, and the dedicated handhled market just doesn't put out the money anymore.
Edit:
@shinobi88
Fire Emblem, Shin Megami Tensei IV, and Project X Zone aren't hardcore enough games for you? Unless by hardcore you exclusively mean AAA shooters and action games, which never were going to work well on the DS family to begin with.
But Nintendo games have such strong resale value. I still buy any Nintendo published N64 games whenever I see them at thrift shops or garage sales because they sell for so much more.
That being said, it's pretty rare these days for me to sell a Nintendo game I bought for myself.
@MrGawain Not sure if there are any developers left for Nintendo to talk to that they don't own. They seem to have burned most of those bridges already.
99 cents, but the amount of actions you can take for that price is limited? Not so sure I like this system... Not that I made many great notes back on the DSi anyways.
I think I'll go with a new profile on there, if I join at all. I can see some cool applications of the 3D, but not sure if it's enough to be worth my time.
I don't think anybody should be trying to earn their living just from sharing gameplay videos on Youtube, regardless of my opinion on whether Nintendo should be doing this or not. If you're going to rely on the randomness of the internet to survive, you've made a terrible choice.
Buy anyways, I agree with this. I think more businesses, especially music/game copyright holders, should be looking at Youtube much more carefully. It's amazing the amount of copyrighted content that is shared, or outright pirated, through or because of the service.
@SkywardLink98 Not sure about it on the PS2, though it doesn't matter as Sony shut that version of the PSN offline years ago, but on the PC the servers are all privately funded. Meaning Lucas Arts and what have you aren't paying a dime to keep them online, dedicated individuals are. Most PC games work like that, which is why even more ancient games that use server based matchmaking (Read: Neverwinter Nights) are still big online.
Really trying to get into this game on the PSP, but I just can't so far. The story is there, but it's missing something... I'm more of a 999/VLR/Corpse Party person, though.
@darkgamer001 How dare somebody who develops technology for a very specific industry have an opinion on what the people in that industry are doing. I mean really, how dare he decide that a company who isn't in line with what his company is developing is somehow a lesser company to him. Clearly he should make sure UE4 can run, and is licensed, on every console, especially the PS2. PS2 still has the highest market penetration, so clearly it's in his best interests to focus on making UE4 work best there. The whole idea that the company should focus their resources on the consoles where their technology works best should be damned! Because if he thinks that the Wii U isn't powerful enough to be worth putting UE4 on or developing it for, that is clearly fanboy hate and not a decision based on business logic.
Unreal Engine doesn't only power FPS games, as I own quite a few UE3 games on my PC that use it for all kinds of things. Currently enjoying the graphical punch UE3 provides to Dungeon Defenders, an excellent co-op tower defense game.
The Wii U not getting UE4 is horrible news, and shows just how badly Nintendo needs to rethink their console design plans in terms of price vs. power. If people really just want an average quality experience at a lower price, there's a whole host of older consoles for that.
Yup. My favorite example of this is in Forza Motorsports for the original Xbox. The car manufacturers said that cars could not flip over under any circumstances.
The reason the crashes aren't as exciting as they could be. (In say a Burnout massive destruction sort of way) Is that car manufacturers don't like seeing their cars get destroyed very much, so Criterion is forced to keep the damage to a certain scale.

Midnight? 8:00AM? When? When will these hit the shelves at the 24 hour stores? (Not that I need a second one, but...)
Re: Nintendo Confirms Super Mario amiibo - Gold Edition Exclusivity for 3000 Walmart Stores in the US
Got a pre-order in about 40 minutes ago when Wal-Mart started canceling all of the pre-orders for multiple copies.
Am happy.

Going to need to figure out if this is a midnight release or morning release, because I will camp out at Wal-Mart for this.
