New here so apologies if it’s been discussed before, but besides the AC adapter being a UK plug is there any downside to importing a Switch 2 from the UK? I’ve requested an invitation to preorder a UK Switch 2 bundle but want to be sure everything will work fine before ordering. Thanks!

GET OFF OUR CONSOLES! You voted him in, you deal with it. Swear down if I don't get one...grrrr!
(Totally tongue in cheek.)

I’m sure you know already, but most of us here on this website did not vote him in. Personally not a huge fan of that guy, so forgive me if I steal one of your consoles. lol

GrailUK

@CFBuck HAhah. I would be lying if I said I wouldn't do the same in your shoes. Man. talk isn't going to do anything about him.

@GrailUK You might be joking, my good Grail, but I'm not when I say that I find the behaviour of some American gamers on this site to be utterly contemptible. Asking if they can import S2 from the UK - let alone Canada? Trump supporters know the virtue of never questioning, and they should bow to the word of their Lord and Saviour - Americans don't need anything from Canada, or anything in Canada. And if Trump can erect tariff barriers to goods from the Canada, UK and Japan, that means the Yanks don't need S2.

I'm reminded of the premier of Florida trying to import pharmaceuticals from woke, communist Canada. If we're so evil and socialist, why would you need our second-rate stuff?

@CFBuck Fine, you didn't vote for him, I'll give you that. But the USA made the mess, and it's up to you to clean it up. NOT THE REST OF US.

@CANOEberry The planet is going in the wrong direction. I think the less alienation the better (especially over a Switch 2.) Tarring some with the same brush is exactly what Trump's mindset wants people to do.

@GrailUK Deep breath ... must you be so reasonable when I have a good mad on? I'm not buying one of these myself, but I really want to play Bananza. It's getting to me.

Hey. If I buy one and sell it to CFBuck, would that make me a scalper and a bad person and all that?

Woah… I’m not saying politics should not be mentioned here, especially when this whole thing is inherently political. I also have nothing against any other country. My question was just what are the potential pros/cons of importing a UK Switch 2, considering I hadn’t seen any discussion on it before. You can’t claim hypocrisy on my part when I never made the first point.

@GrailUK
Appreciate the sentiment. Right now we need more unity, not less. Division is precisely the goal of these tariffs. Appreciate all of our friends in the UK, and much love from the U.S.!

@CANOEberry Umm...I would say you are making the most out of a bad situation O.<

@GrailUK I'm joking about the scalping. Upon reflection, I think you're right about the alienation part, and yes, reinforcing existing divisions is probably a very deliberate aspect of all this. I guess this is how Luke felt when Palpatine trotted out that old speech - I can feel your anger and all that.

I think I need to play some F-Zero 99 now.

CANOEberry

GrailUK

@CANOEberry It's easy to get angry. That's why Trump stirs it.

It seems like Vietnam is negotiating with US, so hopefully things will continue as planned for the console's pre-orders/release. Not sure why NL hasn't updated the website yet with the news, I know a lot of people here wouldn't like to hear that the tariff is working, but still important considering that's where the Switch 2's are being made.

I know orange baby is outrageous and a fair target of contempt but the US isn't the first or last country to vote for something or someone ridiculous. They're certainly trying to speedrun the stupid lately but still, not the first or last time something like this has happened

I would note this especially for the UK members of this site who only very recently voted to leave the EU and then proceeded to have a series of conservative PMs culminating in one who failed to last longer than a cabbage after playing a game of "how fast can we destroy the economy"

Also, I can't not mention that here in Australia this was our PM during the pandemic.....

So, you know, those in glass houses and all that

CANOEberry

@skywake Certainly. Any electorate can make a foolish collective decision - a feature of any true democracy. (CFBuck, I am not talking about you personally in this message, not in any way.)

I have to note, though, that Brexit Britain did not threaten to seize the Suez Canal, annex Ireland by economic force, or casually muse about conquering Iceland. Still less has Australia threatened, belittled or broken agreements with New Zealand, PNG or East Timor in any way. I can't recall any recent example of Australia attempting to defy international economic reality, in fact.

To reiterate: GrailUK is absolutely right about certain forces hoping to deepen divisions among us. I'm going to keep that in mind as I see the Trump supporters and apologists in these threads. Getting angry and responding directly isn't going to edify us or convince these people, I understand that. By the very same token, there is a limit to what we should be tolerating - aggressive comments from American users of this site toward the international community, or cries that the poor little USA has been taken advantage of by its evil foreign allies neighbours partners that have too much stuff Americans want, aren't acceptable either. I don't feel it's out of place for the rest of us to call out the obliviousness and hypocrisy of American users trying to wish away or circumvent tariffs that will directly and precipitously affect them - certainly not by raiding the S2 stocks of those same evil foreigners that they don't need anyway. Especially not those users who are echoing the aggression and gangsterism of the American regime - to wit:

There's no way they're not gonna keep pushing this if they're seeing results, it's not like the other countries have many options.

That kind of arrogant, ignorant and xenophobic comment merits no reply, especially given that reality will be hitting home for them soon enough. If this kind of American wants to self-immolate and self-isolate, they should be free to do so, and take the consequences. That doesn't mean they should get to strut around a worldwide forum like this without challenge - especially one based outside of the US. If we evil foreigners are such a threat, or we're so weak and lame, perhaps these people should go to an American forum instead. We're not to blame if Nintendo or Nintendo Life are too damned attractive to the Yanks. And we're certainly not forcing them to come to this site or buy Switch-toos in the first place, right?

Love the sinner, hate the sin.

@CANOEberry
I agree that it is hypocritical, but only for the groups who believe in waging trade war with other nations. You make your bed, you’d better lie in it. It seems like Vietnam may be negotiating the tariffs away, but if not I hope you’ll forgive me for buying one overseas. Just remember, even though the current government may not be, half of America is on your side.

CFBuck

Dogorilla

@CFBuck I notice nobody's actually answered your question so... as long as you have a power adapter I think you'd be fine? The console is region free certainly, and I can't think of any other potential issues. But hopefully someone who knows for sure will see this thread.

Thank you Nintendo for giving us Donkey Kong Jr Math on Nintendo Music

CFBuck

@Dogorilla
I figured as much, but I hadn’t seen anyone else discuss it, even though it seemed like an easy way to get a preorder in. Thanks for helping me out!
