Circle Entertainment is bringing Might and Delight's Shelter Generations to Switch later this year, it has been announced.
Shelter Generations includes Shelter 2 and Paws: A Shelter 2 Game and will be a console exclusive on Switch. Shelter 2 originally launched on Steam in 2015 and places you in the role of a mother lynx who has to look after her kittens by making sure they are fed and safe. You'll face a series of challenges and will even be able to control your offspring once they become old enough. Paws: A Shelter 2 Game is a standalone expansion "with loss and friendship as its central themes."
Other content is also planned for the pack on Switch, and will be confirmed at a later date - along with a solid launch window.

That is a pretty trailer.
So only the second game and it's (sort of) expansion? Not the first game?
Got the original on PC, always meant to pick the sequel up. This will be great
This game actually looks pretty neat.
Does anything happen in this game? It rained at the end...that was about the height of it. The visuals look like a sort of a patchwork quilt.
Looking at reviews of Shelter 2, it has a score of 58% on Metacritic, while its average on Steam is 9/10. It doesn't make sense that there's such a disparity. What, critics don't like it, but the players do?
Interesting art style, not sure if I like it. Game sounds cool though
Love the art styles of this, I may need to check this out if it ever come to fruition.
Looks very bad!
It didn't look much like a game. Just landscapes
The gameplay sure looks interesting, but surely they could have gone for a more appealing artstyle.
Also, multiplayer?
Waaaaaaaaaw...............
Interesting theme and gaming arc-- It definitely gets points in my book for daring to be different and with style. I'll keep an eye out.
This is my kind of game. Didn't know Circle had things like this up their sleeve.
@SLIGEACH_EIRE Disparity between players' and critics' opinions isn't too uncommon. Just look at Skyward Sword, showered with 10's at launch but is now constantly criticized by gamers (and critics too!).
It could be that critics found Shelter's survival focus to be a bit barebones compared to other titles, while some gamers think its simplicity is pleasing and relaxing.
I've seen this game before, looks very interesting and that visual style is certainly striking. Not sure if it's something I'd play, but I'll definitely keep an eye on it.
@ilikeike I don't like Skyward Sword. Worst Zelda game for me, easily. Don't know how it reviewed so well. It's the only bad Zelda game imo, the CDi games don't count.
@SLIGEACH_EIRE Many games don't have good Metacritic scores, but have good reviews on Steam.
As for Skyward Sword, maybe you already answered your own question.
@SLIGEACH_EIRE Yeah it's definitely one of the weaker Zelda games. I enjoyed it for what it was though. Decent story & music as well as some good dungeons. Pales in comparison to ALttP or BotW, at least IMO.
'Console exclusive' is such a wierd term! IMHO it's either completely exclusive or not.
@ilikeike SS constantly criticised by gamers? I mean I have read about some people not liking it, but not that many and certainly not constantly.
FYI: For me, SS is the second-best Zelda game behind BotW.
I could also understand naming OoT, but it's just too outdated now.
I don't even understand how anyone could find WW or TP better (handheld game don't count for me), they are okay but have too many annoying and boring gameplay elements (the wolf mode, the sea) and have nothing unique to offer apart from these tedious annoying gimmicks.
Meanwhile, SS was the first 3D Zelda with a proper crafting/gear upgrade system. Unlike WW and TP it had a thrilling and surprising story. The sword fights against Ghirahim were ingenius (definitely some of my most memorable gaming moments ever) and probably the best/most human-like AI I've ever seen in a game.
The only real issue I had with SS was it wasn't truly open-world but every part of the world had to be loaded separately.
I'd love am open-world HD remake of SS!
But of course, everyone is entitled to their own opinion, I'm just stating mine.
Love everything about this... I just hope it’s good.
I really don't like the art style of this game, although the visuals aren't the most important aspect of a game. That said, I have no idea what sort of game this is, the trailer doesn't really tell that much.
@shani Of course I don't assume that everyone hates SS. I actually quite enjoyed it for all the reasons you mentioned (as well as the Ancient Cistern, possibly my favorite Zelda dungeon ever) though I still have a few qualms with the game with regards to its controls and linearity.
I was just using it as an example of the difference between critics who view it as the perfect Zelda game, and many fans who simply see it as a 'good' game only.
When they say, "loss and friendship," all I can think of is the movie "Benji the Hunted." (I'm dating myself here.) Substitute cougars for lynxes and it's something I might have to pass on. It's bad enough I cried at the movie.
Art-style looks interesting. It has potential as long as it is not over priced. Demo please.
@SLIGEACH_EIRE dude, nearly every game score on Steam is 9/10 lol
Oo, I know the guys who made this! Never did get around to playing it though. Great art.
@SLIGEACH_EIRE Steam is easier to flood with fake reviews
The textures look like a bowl of these:
@SLIGEACH_EIRE If I remember right Steam doesn't use a scoring system. It's distributed between "Recommended" and "Not Recommended". 9/10 is most likely just 90% of Steam reviewers (of Shelter 2) recommend playing the game.
The premise sounds interesting, but what exactly to you do in this game?
I like the art style. Wandering around a landscape whilst being followed by baby lynxes looks pretty sweet to me
Looks interesting, but it definitely needs a review before I can decide if I will want it.
This one is not for me... hope to see more exclusives in the future though!
Reminds me of Wolf Quest

@SLIGEACH_EIRE Thanks!
I watched the trailer, but I still don’t know what the game is about.
Ok, art style looks nice, but WHAT DO YOU ACTUALLY DO?
@SLIGEACH_EIRE That happens quite a lot. Critics often come to a conclusion which doesn't line up with general opinion- take PUBG for example. Polygon gave it a 10/10, despite being barely playable on Xbox and still a buggy mess on PC. Granted, it's getting better, but most people would agree that a game which charges $30 should run well. Another example is Skyward Sword- it was critically acclaimed, and yet many fans regard it as a long tutorial. I personally enjoy the strong attention to the story, but most people prefer less emphasis on story in Zelda games.

It doesn't happen that often, but every now and then there is a disparity between what the critics say and between what the audience says. And it can be for a variety of different reasons.
Like other folks around here also mentioned - professional critics can take a certain view on games (probably because they are doing that game-reviewing stuff as a job) that doesn't exactly match with what the general player (who's just looking out for some fun or fan-service) might think.
Every now and then it also works out in the opposite way, when the critics praise a game and the majority of gamers considers it to be nothing but a turd.
I mean - even look at the disaster that was the Nintendo Switch version of WWE 2K18. I can kind of imagine what the development team had to go through (to put it short they were imho actually forced to ride a 'Hindentanic' into the market at full force) - but there still are people who seem to enjoy that game.
(Actually, since I only paid half price for it and mostly concentrate on short 1-on-1 matches during my shorter commutes, I would even count myself among those who wouldn't blame it to hell, since it's currently the perfect game for me to let off some steam while riding the subway on my way back from the office. XD )
@SLIGEACH_EIRE actually this disparity between critics and fans is much more prevalent in the film industry. Especially recently.
