I wouldn't be surprised if this new Zelda game focused on the creation of the master sword. Like it was a person, and because of stuff that happens in the game they have to "give themselves up" in order to make/become a master sword.
That would mean this game would probably have a different "evil" than ganon. I'm cool with that.
And remember, no master sword does not mean not having a sword. All the Zelda games you start playing without the master sword anyways.
Very intresting theroy. If that is indeed true, this will probably be the first chronlogically Zelda game in the timeline.
Wait a minute. I thought in the interview that Shigeru Miyamoto said the next Zelda game would feature an even older Link. So it has to take after The Legend of Zelda: Twlight Princess.
Different zelda games have different links and zeldas. Twilight princess was set 100 years after OoT in an alternate timeline. The hero could be a different link.

Confirmed: The Legend of Zelda timeline will never be figured out.
*IGN: We have to ask about Pikmin 3, of course. What happened to it at this year's show? Also, if we've got it right, Pikmin was the last original IP you came up with specifically for traditional gamers. Any idea when we can expect a new so-called hardcore property from you?
Shigeru Miyamoto: In regards to the IP question, I really don't consider Pikmin to be the last original IP. I look at the Miis, the Wii Sports, Nintendogs -- these are all original IPs from me. Even the island in Wii Sports Resort, I'm considering that an IP -- that island itself. *
IGN is soooooo stupid.
Haha, whoever asks those questions just doesn't pay attention to Nintendo games.
Also, have any of the Zelda games been direct sequels? From what I've played, each one has its own story.

Please yes, if that means having a mixture of eras similar to that found in Final Fantasy 7. I'd love to play a Zelda game where I could visit the usual old villages in some areas but, in others, see something like Midgar.

I like the steampunk motif in general, but not for a Zelda game. I'm sure they could make it work, but i don't know if it would still "feel" like a "true" Zelda game.

See,this is the kind of attitude that is going to see the Zelda franchise stuck in the myre for an awful long time. Surely it is time to shake up the Zelda games a little bit otherwise we will forever have Oot copies with better graphics, surley a true Zelda is all about the gameplay.I would love to see a Zelda set in a different enviroment and I think a steampunk one would be v.cool.Just think ,if they hadn't sent Mario into space you wouldn't have Galaxy and that turned out pretty good methinks.
There's a difference between Mario going into space and Zelda going steampunk, though -- Mario games have traditionally been about Mario's adventures through bizarre, outlandish settings, so Space easily fits in with that motif. Whereas the Zelda games have traditionally been centered around a grand adventure in a quasi-medieval/fantasy setting. I don't doubt that a steampunk game would work -- and yes, at the end of the day, it's all about the gameplay -- just that by bringing that setting would change what a Zelda is, in a sense.

Yeah well - Zelda is not stuck in the myre,
TP was fan service - for ungrateful fans. And an exceptional game in any case....
IGN: The holiday Wii lineup looks thin for the hardcore crowd. We see this. Gamers see this. What, if anything, is Nintendo planning to address it?
Oh good, I am neither a gamer or hardcore. Saves me from having to be IGNorant. Right, Down, A, Down, Right, Up

I feel neither grateful or ungrateful when a new Zelda is released, or any game, for that matter, and I do love the series -- but I owe Nintendo no loyalty or thanks for receiving my hard earned money, which I spent on a product of theirs which was in no way bad really, felt a little too familiar to me about 90% of time, and so not very exciting, ultimately. If you put something out into the world, especially when you are charging for the experience, people have the right to be openly pleased or displeased -- Zelda isn't a favor, or a privilege -- it's an exchange, which goes both ways, of course

I don't know who you are, Sushie, or how you got here, but I'm starting to hope you stick around.

Nintendo should stop the clones of Zelda OoT, I really want the next Zelda to be something revolutionary (like OoT were on it's time), steam punk Zelda sounds great, and warioswoods' mixture of eras idea sounds awesome .

I'd love a mix of traditional Hyrule and then an Ocarina type jump forward through time, but much further. Traditional clothes and weapons mixed with awesome tech. Plus it would be a wonderful contrast from one time to the other, I would not complain one bit. It'd be great as well if we could go all the way back to the creation of Hyrule, say if it was put at risk by Ganonpants, and Link needs to fix stuff, in a void type world. I dunno. In Shigsy I trust.
