A couple interesting tidbits were in that article, thanks for pointing it out. I'm particularly interested in what this different era will entail.

Very cool, the less like TP the better.

Of course, here's what got me salivating:
"With Pikmin 3, we've got all the basics pretty much done. Now it's just a matter of how do we go in and fill that out? What sort of work do we give our designers? That team has been constantly been moving forward. So with a little time, we'll be able to make more progress and I hope we can bring you something that will make you happy."

Yay, so many fun tidbits! Can't wait until these games come out. Thanks for posting this.

I am way too lazy to think of something clever.

Nice avatar. That's her in Majora's Mask, right? Or is it the shop in Oot? I'm thinking MM for some reason.

I love the way she flirts with you if you visit that shop as a Zora.

*IGN: We have to ask about Pikmin 3, of course. What happened to it at this year's show? Also, if we've got it right, Pikmin was the last original IP you came up with specifically for traditional gamers. Any idea when we can expect a new so-called hardcore property from you?

Shigeru Miyamoto: In regards to the IP question, I really don't consider Pikmin to be the last original IP. I look at the Miis, the Wii Sports, Nintendogs -- these are all original IPs from me. Even the island in Wii Sports Resort, I'm considering that an IP -- that island itself. *

IGN is soooooo stupid.

IGN: The holiday Wii lineup looks thin for the hardcore crowd. We see this. Gamers see this. What, if anything, is Nintendo planning to address it?

Oh good, I am neither a gamer or hardcore. Saves me from having to be IGNorant.

I like the franchises they have now. We don 't need any more at the moment. Bring on some new Star Fox and Kid Icarus!!

And if this Zelda doesn't have a SWORD......

....well, I don't know what I'd think about that.

The more new francises the better.

I always have to ask Kid Icarus fans - you want a direct sequel to the NES game? Or what?

I wouldn't be surprised if this new Zelda game focused on the creation of the master sword. Like it was a person, and because of stuff that happens in the game they have to "give themselves up" in order to make/become a master sword.

That would mean this game would probably have a different "evil" than ganon. I'm cool with that.

And remember, no master sword does not mean not having a sword. All the Zelda games you start playing without the master sword anyways.

As far as Star Fox is concerned, the only plausable explanation for it being MIA for the Wii so far is that they need a bit more powerful machine in order to take the game in the direction they want to. Or maybe they were waiting to see the sucess of M+ in order to decide wether to make a game based on it.

If, internally, Nintendo is foreseeing a new WiiHD or something in the next 2 years or so, it would make sence to hold out Star Fox (and maybe even Zelda) for it. If anything, unless Nintendo is holding out a LOT from us about the current development of Zelda, it stands to reason we wouldn' t see Zelda for another 2 years anyways. (Summer-Fall 2011 release)

The more you think about it, the brighter the IP outlook seems to be for the Wii/WiiHD. We already have gotten two Mario games, a metroid, punch-out, WSR (I'm buying this whole Island theme. This game's got me hooked), and half a zelda game (TP). We've got two mario games and a metroid game about to be released in the next year. Pikmim and Zelda games confirmed to be in development. And a bunch of other franchises waiting in the wings. (Kirby, Kid Icarus, Donkey Kong, Star Fox)

Make it steampunk/Clockwork with a tone of Majora, and you have something that will not feel as formulatic as TP. Also, do something with the visuals. Brown is nor realistic, or nice to look at. Last time i looked outside, it looked more like WW then it did TP.

I honestly can't say the TP Hyrule was their best version, so I'm cool with this.

Very intresting theroy. If that is indeed true, this will probably be the first chronlogically Zelda game in the timeline.

Wait a minute. I thought in the interview that Shigeru Miyamoto said the next Zelda game would feature an even older Link. So it has to take after The Legend of Zelda: Twlight Princess.

I didn't really like Twilight Princess so this will hopefully be better.

Different zelda games have different links and zeldas. Twilight princess was set 100 years after OoT in an alternate timeline. The hero could be a different link.
