Yes there will be. In about five years or so.

Besides, Nintendo's got enough money to outlast a few console failures before giving in.

There will be another Nintendo system after the Wii U but there will NEVER be another Nintendo system that will live up to the greatness of the Super NES and N64.

Please mods, close this... this is not even a question, the 3DS just started to print money and with the vita in life support, it means even more 3DS would be sold... the WiiU its hardly "diying" so nintendo thinking if they will ever be another Nintendo console its kind of dumb, the WiiU double the ammount of 360 consoles when you compare their both launches (900k in 4w for the 360, 1.8m for WiiU), and im pretty sure this wont stop...

While this doesnt say that much (theres a lot of variables in the equation), its a clear indicator that nintendo has some support left, A LOT... even after all the "doomed" train that started with the 3DS and WiiU presentation...

but seriously i find it funny how when someone brings up the topic of who will be the first company to die or around there they always think its nintendo like rly? did you see there sales lately?or there up coming line of games? as compared to vita come on

but to answer the question yeah there will be a console one way or another same with the 3ds predecessor i think what they will run out of is ideas yet ironicly enough theres ideas but they never seem to use them o.o in the end no one knows they could even skip a console...

A more pertinent question right now is will Sony pull out of the handheld market? The answer: yes. And will Sony again invest billions of dollars in the development of a new home console? The answer is no.

I think yes. Nintendo can support a system on their own but even that is unlikely because as long as there is a console there will be 3rd parties. The great thing about Nintendo is that their competitors don't neccesarily dictate what they will do. If anyone can find a way to make money in a world without consoles from Sony & MS, it's Nintendo.

@CactusJackson - How wrong was what CM30 said? You think Nintendo couldn't bring out another console if the Wii U fails?

I don't think so. Home consoles are a dying breed. Handhelds will exist though

Yes. Not only do I hope so, but I think so. Nintendo can afford it, plus there are those that only like home console games. I'm expecting the Wii I will last maybe 6 years, or more even. I expect the same with the 3DS. I think the really question is in what form, will it be another Wii, or a completely new name? Same with the DS.

I would like to point out that the Xbox 360 was sent out to the world with a huge design flaw. RROD. This is a bad thing because not only did they send it out with the system in such an unstable state, but they programmed in something to tell you when it happened! They didn't fix it, they programmed the Xbox to flash the rings red to let you know it had something wrong with it... wow.

Besides the Wii U, I haven't run into any such issue on a Nintendo console.

What, the red lights? Those were just visual error codes. They were put in for a number of possible scenarios that could occur, not programmed solely for the RROD.

Yeah, see I wouldn't encesserily call it a design flaw if it's telling you something is wrong, either. They atteempted to fix em, however unsuccessful. Sure it took them a long time to figure it out, but I believe they did eventually address the issue, which is the result of the slim models which are designd with an auto-off function if the system gets too hot. A lot of people tend to mistake the simple red dot in the middle for 3 red lights, though, because I don't think they understand the indicators when a problem isn't related to that type of thing. Other than that, yeah it has other indicators to look for..

Anyway, my whole point again was more or less than this day and age, it's just getting that time where people are gonna expect more, new and fresh, spot on without dissappointment, and it's not necesserily a bad thing for Nintendo to take that next step foward. If they really wanna reach out to the hardhitting audiences, thee's no question that they need show proof of it 1st that they'll believe and not always expect the innovation to drive the system alone. For me, everything has to be well balanced out or even the slightest thing could ruin my whole experience; Presentation, (graphics and audio, which obviously in this day and age doesn't really matter all that much anymore, but) design, gameplay, (the controls) plot if any, which pretty much helps determines the mos important element, replay value.
