Just came back from other forums. It's much nicer to see people actually saying good things about the new style. I don't know why but what I read elsewhere, some people hate this new style. Some are saying that the cartoon effect was awesome and that you can't even see the cel-shading anymore. I wonder if they are the same people who moaned because Wind Waker wasn't a realistic looking game. I like how the game looks, both GC and Wii U versions. GC version is like a cartoon and this one looks like a painting to me. The only thing that annoys me a bit is the way Link himself looks now. I'm not sure what it is but I hope they'll fix it before releasing the game.

History repeats itself, i guess.

Red Steel 3 was Ubisoft but, be that as it may, I think you're right. Much as I'd love another game like that I think we may have seen the end of motion control brawlers for a while. It's a shame. I'm playing NG3 right now and the button controls just feel so old after that.

Yeah I think these are still very early screens, they're bound to tweak the artstyle a lot over the next few months. By the time we see moving footage I'll be completely convinced.

Good point: maybe Skyward Sword should be my next Zelda. I loved Red Steel 2.

I've seen some comparisons between Wind Waker HD screens on Dolphin, and this official re-release by Nintendo, and I have to say I prefer the former, visually. Of course, If I wanted the same graphics I could just be booting up Wind Waker on my Cube, it's timeless anyway. I'm sad they got rid of some of the cel-shading though (mostly on the characters).

I'm blown away that Lucas Arts never released a Vs/1 on 1 Wii remote plus '1st/3rd person view' StarWars Light saber based game on the Wii.... It would of sold like hot cakes aside from being absolutely amazing if Skyward sword and Sword Fight in Wii Sports resort's controls were any indication!

If only they would get away from the dang cell shaded graphics. I just cant play a Zelda game that looks like it should be in an episode of South Park.

@3Dash - I was a late adopter of Wind Waker, and I loved it. It has it's own distinct feel and atmosphere, and I found it enjoyable to explore the islands and sea. I am looking forward to seeing this HD revamp when it's done.

Nah, i experienced half of the GCN generation, while the other half consisted of beer, woman and endless partying. I blame the 'ZOMGZ' late tween party mentality and losing almost all interest in modern '3D polygons, twin stick' gaming

Anyways, The GCN definitly has some fantastic gems, much more so than the N64...Looking forward to finally playing Sunshine as well.

Is that truely the only reason you've never liked it! I think the art design opened up the gameplay and animation to the point it was the best playing and most fun of the series! OOT is a close second but there is something that just all came together in Wind Waker that made it special!

Then just wait for the new one and give this a miss? It's actually nice to have a different take on things, not all need to look realistic. It's pretty sad that you'd possibly skip a game over its looks. Surely you didn't skip the handheld titles as well?

Yep. I know it might be shallow of me but I just cant take it seriously due to the graphics. But on the same page I know people who cant take Borderlands as a serious FPS due to the cell shaded graphics. I have tried to play Wind Waker several times on the GC and I just cant past the graphics.

No doubt... That was during my college years so between that, chasing woman, Halo, and recovering form hang over's I had no time for Gamecube. :P I would not be against Nintendo re-mastering some more of their hits that I missed from that Land of the Lost era!

Then I warn you to not try out Minish Cap and both DS titles, especially the latter because of Toon Link being back(even though they were still excellent games!). Did you get to play the Gameboy/Color titles? Oracle of Seasons, Oracle of Ages, Link's Awakening...all great games.

I know a lot of people hated the art direction they choose for this one. Many were excited to see what a OOT style game would look like on the cube since the graphics were a Hugh step up! Hopefully this remake will satisfy you to the point you can finish it as its quite enjoyable!

@Chriiis: I have played Link's Awakening both the origianl and the DX version but I have never played Oracle of Seasons/Ages. To be honest I wasn't a big handheld player till the 3DS even though I had a Gameboy from day one. Handhelds always played a back seat to home consoles for me during my youth and when I got older I just didnt have the money to sink into games. Heck as it is now I am discovering DS games for the first time on the my 3DS.

@Tech101: Yeah maybe I will give it try and rent it from Gamefly but as of now there are other games at the top of my list that I rather play on the Wii U.

With the systems being pretty cheap thanks to aging, you should really give the older handheld games a chance. It's even easier to do so for them since you can take them with you. Since you can play the DS games on a 3DS, all you'd need is a GBA (preferably SP) for the GBC titles and Minish Cap. What did you think of Link's Awakening?
