Topic: Which Nintendo titles would like to see redone in HD for the Wii U (ala Wind Waker HD)?

I think for the most party your limited the Gamecube, Wii, and 3DS games, seeing the early polygonal titles (N64 era) lack much detail and would require more revisions to update the graphics / gameplay. Also, N64 titles will most likely be on the VC within a year or two. Like The Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker HD, we are talking about updated graphics, a couple of new gameplay features, and gamepad utilization (unless your using the Wiimote)

==============

1. The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword (this game is just begging for HD graphics, plus a lot of people missed it during it’s first iteration due to it being released and the end of the Wii’s lifespan. I’m not sure if you could add gamepad features considering the game is already so Wiimote / Nunchuk centric)

==============

2. Super Mario Galaxy 1 or 2 (and or both titles preferably, anybody who has seen the Galaxy HD emulator graphics on YouTube knows that this title would be incredible, and you could keep the Wiimote / Nunchuk combo as the primary controller method, I don’t think anything would be needed extra gameplay wise)

==============

3. Kid Icarus: Uprising (I adore this game, and I think both the gamepad and Wiimote / Nunchunk controls would work excellent…….graphics would be wonderful)

==============

4. Luigi’s Mansion: Dark Moon (more or less already a console game in quality, and I think the gamepad would lend itself well here)

==============

5. Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door (I have yet to play it considering I never owned a GCN outside of November / December 2001, but I always wanted to considering the critical / user acclaim, and the fact that I loved Super Mario RPG: LOTSS and Paper Mario)

eternal darkness would make for a sweet hd remake
i would love to see a new kid icarus game on the wii u though.
and i don't think paper mario would be a good hd remake, sure the graphics were nice, especially compared to the first one, but i don't see it making for a good hd remake.

i'm not sure if we'll get many wii hd remakes. i know we got lots of gamecube games remade for wii with new controls, so it is a possibility.

Super Mario Galaxy 1+2 in Hd
Super Mario 64 in Hd
I didn't like sunshine but what the heck.

Maybe a Paper Mario collection in HD would be a nice treat. I think super paper Mario had the weakest graphics (3d was relatively sparse, and it seems more like a 3ds port is ideal for spm anyway)

I bet it would look better than Super Mario 3d World, but then again 3d World is Multiplayer, like nsmbwii. Also, somr people (like me) never played galaxy 2, and there are still copies being sold on store shelves all over I think. I saw mk:dd until a few years ago!

I don't know that Wii games should be ruled out because the visuals can be improved. I think Xenoblade Chronicles with a longer draw distance for the more impressive giant beasties and reduced load times would be well worth it. After all we had GameCube games on the Wii despite the fact that it could play those in their original format.

My list is pretty small and just contains what I think would be most likely due to sales/potential sequels (I can dream):

1. Super Mario Galaxy
2. Xenoblade Chronicles
3. Chibi Robo

Off the top of my head (so I'm bound to forget some favorites):

Super Mario Sunshine
Luigi's Mansion
Resident Evil 4
Metroid Prime (perhaps the trilogy, but at least the first two)
Star Fox Adventures
Twilight Princess

And if possible, throw in Final Fantasy: Crystal Chronicles and Zelda: Four Swords Adventures.

For the most part, Wii games are too soon to me, I've played them enough times in the recent years. Of course there's some N64 games I'd love in HD (Majora's Mask drools) but that seems way too unlikely, it'd be a lot of word to HD those old games...

Some people probably wouldn't agree, but if I had to pick, maybe Super Mario Sunshine. I think it would really look fantastic in HD. Other than that, I don't really know. Of course Pokemon Snap needs to be revived, that would work great on the Wii U. And I might be the only one who'd play it but I would welcome an updated Hey You Pikachu with open arms. A Twilight Princess HD would look really nice, but the new Zelda on Wii U looks like it'll appear similar anyways.

Pokemon Snap would be awesome with the gamepad (acting as your manual camera which is used in concert with the television), with alternative conventional controls as well.

Super Mario Galaxy. I don't even like that game, and yet I know that game in HD would be one of the most glorious things my eyes would ever set upon.

Kid Icarus: Uprising
Sin & Punishment: Star Successor
Xenoblade Chronicles
Majora's Mask
Excite Bike 64 (online bonfire races, expanded track editor, stunt leaderboards, just an awesome game)
Excite Truck (true multiplayer modes with online)
F-Zero GX
Chibi Robo
Eternal Darkness
Mother 3 (I'll take anything to get my hands on an official Western release)
Super Mario 64
Fire Emblem Path of Radiance/Radiant Dawn (a relatively cheap bundle for new fans)
Stunt Race FX (way ahead of it's time)
SSB: Melee (with online, give the people what they want)
Kirby Air Ride
LOZ: Four Swords Adventures
Star Fox (why not?)
Pokemon Snap (think of the kids, give them something to shoot)
Metroid Pinball (more of this is needed in any format)
Wario Ware: DIY (use the GamePad, expand the tools, more musical flourishes, create boss stages + level sets, hand-drawn HD visuals)
Kirby Canvas Curse (user level creation)
Metroid Prime Hunters (we NEED an online multi FPS with Corruption's controls, this actually had very well-designed levels and cool character specific tricks)

I'd pick nearly every one of these up at retail prices. Though I wouldn't be opposed to eShop versions of GCN games. One remake I'd like to see for the eShop is Kirby Dream Course. I'd also like a new Wii U Professor Layton.

This. I recently bought it for my Wii U having never played it due to being out of the country for two years, and while it looks fine when I sit far from the tv, when I move closer it really kind doesn't work so well on an HD tv.... It looks GREAT on the gamepad, but playing with wiimote controls on the gamepad is kinda inconvenient.

Mario Galaxy 1&2 already look HD. A more visually dated game like Twilight Princess or a game that felt limited by the capabilities of the hardware like Skyward Sword would benefit far more from a HD remake IMO.

None. A big waste of time. They should focus their efforts on the new titles. All Wii titles are playable just fine on the Wii U, and GameCube titles weren't huge sellers at the time, and most already had sequels anyway. I'd also prefer to play them with my GC controller on the Wii. Just focus on the new stuff.

I think the first thing to realize is that the target for HD updates would be Gamecube games. Wii games can play natively, and N64 games would require too much work. NES and SNES are out, of course.

I disagree. I think any game from any Nintendo system should be eligible for getting an HD remake. Being "too much work" is not a good excuse to not do it.

I agree. I would very much like an updated version of Super Mario All-Stars. At least SMB1, SMB2 (USA), SMB2 (Lost Levels) and SMB3. SMW would be a nice bonus. Add in four player simultaneous co-cop like the New Super Mario Bros. series and HD graphics, it would be amazing. Four player co-op might be kind of hard with SMB3 and SMW, though, what with the flying. In those cases, perhaps it would be better if it allowed for one player to play on the TV and the other on the gamepad, so they could both travel anywhere in the same level.

Majora's Mask should get a 3DS remake along with Ocarina of Time for now. At some point in the future, though, Ocarina of Time and Majora's Mask both need HD versions. Preferably as a combo-pack.

I'd rather them NOT do an HD remake of Super Mario All-Stars...
