@Jazzer94 Now I'm super jealous. But at least we get to play Smash bros here in Canada! Hah!
@Hy8ogen Bro I played both versions the 3DS one for a couple hours.
@Jazzer94 What?! Oh dang bro you just escalated my jealousy to hatred now!
Jokes aside, how did Bayo 2 felt? From the trailers it seems too hectic and too "button mashy" to me. I'm holding my judgement until I play the game though. I was really hoping the game would play more or so like devil may cry. Fast paced and lots of action but you actually have to plan out your button pressing and not just plain mashing.
I think the difficult was at normal so bear that in mind.
The controls are easy to pick and combos are easy to execute I'm fairly certain button mashing will get you killed (especially on higher difficulties) and would make getting a large combo score difficult destroying any chance of a Platinum rank, dodging is essential in this game as it rewards slow down moments to help rack up a higher combo and therefore a higher score. Performancewise I didn't notice a frame drop this game was running smooth the entire time while looking gorgeous I kind of wish I'd got my friend to film as I did for Smash.
Bayonetta 2 has been ridiculously hyped for such a niche Nintendo game so I reckon it will sell pretty well. It also has Nintendo costumes which always seems to help!
To actually make their money back they need to advertise to the kinds of young men that will see boobs with violence and need to buy the game.
As for people saying it looks like a 'button masher'. I doubt the original would have got a 90 on Metacritic if it was that shallow but then again, gaming journalism has become a weird clique full of plagiarism and very few original reviews.

Should we take this over to the actual Bayonetta 2 thread?

Actually, there are two Bayonetta 2 threads that I found in my search, but this one is the most recent (and alive).
Let's take our general discussion of Bayonetta 2 there, while limiting our discussions here to "What spells success for Bayonetta 2".

What I don't get is gamers these days. Console exclusives are supposed to logically push sales...yet gamers treat exclusives like the end of the freaking world. Case in point: the reaction to Bayonetta 2. Maybe the industry should die....

At this point, it's like exclusives are keeping people from buying a console. If Devil's Third and Bayonetta 2 were coming to PS4 and Xbox One, people would want them, but since they are on Wii U, it's a pass.
Bayonetta 2 on Xbox One and/or PS4 = system seller
Bayonetta 2 on Wii U = STILL not enough reason to buy the console
@WaveBoy is right. People will be excited about the rerelease Xbox Two and PSCinco get in like 12 years

They need to release a Bayonetta bundle. $300 Special Edition Deluxe Wii U with a sweet design, Bayonetta 1+2, and maybe Bayonetta Bloody Fate or a Pro Controller as an extra. That'll sell.
I'd be shocked if it broke 500k units and see it falling in the same fate as zombiu. I hope I'm wrong though because then Bayo 3 might be on wii u.
Not really, because ZombiU sold more than 500k with mixed reviews.
Launch bundle though. I still didn't buy it, because zombies are about as interesting as my belly button lint and represent one of the worst pop culture trends of all time, but sassy naked British witches, that I can get behind.
So Anakin kneels before Monster Mash and pledges his loyalty to the graveyard smash.

It wasn't worth the price of a VC game roughly I paid for it so at £50 they have every right be disappointed. Ubisoft always make the wrong choices. (What is more they deliberately lie. Since E3 a team has been dedicated to downgrading The Division.)
Deliberately showing something they know they cannot deliver is totally wrong.

But zombiu was a launch title.
Yes and until Wind Waker HD bundle came out, that was around 1/6 of console owners for a mixed opinion, new IP, M-rated game on Nintendo.
And I think it reached 500k pretty quickly.
I'm not saying being a launch title wasn't a plus, I'm just saying it wasn't a guarantee with Nintendo Land bundle and a new Mario there also. Honestly why it was bad to have so many ports released at launch, because it gave people brand names to care about other than the 3rd party game Nintendo most wanted to succeed at the time and so everything did not good.
So basically, you have to admit either it's a different situation (and seriously, don't underestimate the risk of new IP) or consider that it did pretty ok all things considered.
