For a while everyone was whining about the sameyness compared to OOT because they have bad opinions. Honestly, TP was far more creative and awesome than a game that WAS definitively intentionally trying to be like OOT2 had any right to be. And also I actually cared about anything before the first dungeon (or the story before the post-3rd dungeon cutscenes) so that automatically puts it above Skyward Sword.

What he said. Everyone seems to hate on it since they can't get over their nostalgia and admit that OoT wasn't the best thing since sliced bread. What amazes me, though, is that you somehow managed to avoid all that. Go on any video game forum (and I mean any) and talk about Twilight Princess, and you're guaranteed to get a bunch of people calling it absolute ****. It's almost as bad as Other M's case.

Even at worst. it's a step-down in creativity compared to Majora's Mask semi-subtle and neverending inevitable death themes, and Wind Waker's unique art and fairly unique setting. But that's about it. The art "style" is questionable and probably blatantly pandering to "core gamers" with all that brownness but even if I pretend that would make a difference for me, that's nothing compared to Death Mountain climb in OOT.

Hmmm... What about items for the game? I'll make a list of items that would be cool to have;
Recent/returning items:

  • Double hookshot
  • Mirror shield
  • Boomerang
  • Slingshot
  • Bow and arrows
  • Deku leaf
  • Grappling rope
  • Some sort of new incarnation of the Beetle
  • Bomb bags
  • Hammer (but this time, with tons more uses, like smashing different types of crystals that have different effects on you when you smash them (ex. You become fireproof for a bit, or you teleport somewhere)

New/ old old but ressurected items:

  • Magnet gloves
  • Invisibility cloak
  • Staff of time
  • Light pendant ( a small amulet that you can direct a beam of light with. When the beam hits a certain kind of monster, you can control the monster) any other ideas?

You all know what would be really interesting?

If you could play different roles throughout the game besides Link to get a different point of view of the overall story. Think about the gameplay possibilities! Using Zelda's unique and varied powers to solve puzzles, fight, get around places. Or some side character even like a knight or someone. Think about it!! It's like U BECOME THE STORY!! ONLY ON THE WII U! WHERE ONLY WII(the Legend of Zelda Characters) CAN BE U!!!!!!!

Wearing out many a pant. That's what.

Iron Boots
Wooden Boomerang (Light torches by spreading fire)
Double Grappleshot (Shoots like a hookshot, doesn't pull Link's weight, must climb, swing, and rappel to get around)
Lantern of Truth (Lantern to light dark places, and also reveals hidden objects like Poes or invisible platforms)
Roc's Feather (Jump at will, combo with Iron Boots to stomp through bomb-able things)
Fairy Helper (Use Navi to scout like the Beetle)
Bug Net
Fishing Rod
Shovel (Find hidden treasures by digging holes where there are no bushes to whack)
Magic Violin (Cooler Ocarina)
Epona in a dungeon (Run faster and jump over gaps, perhaps upgrade with Pegasus Shoes and a Lance)

Epona in a dungeon (Run faster and jump over gaps, perhaps upgrade with Pegasus Shoes and a Lance)

Hero's bow: OFC, that would be the bow and arrow
Crossbow: Maybe Hero's bow can be upgraded into Hero's Crossbow?
sHand bombs: Not necessary, don't want.
Iron boots: Why not?
Wooden Boomerang: Hmmm.... IMO, the boomerang I mentioned before would be found in a dungeon in the later part of the game. It is high in a mountain range that resembles the himilayas. The boomerang would have special abilities to carry around fire and/or freeze flame ( a white-blue flame that freezes water) and complete special puzzles simmilar but different to those of the snow temple in spirit tracks.
Double grappleshot: Holy maccaroni, seems cool! However, with hookshots and all, your description won't fit as it seems a bit unoriginal. Earlier today I was browsing around the internet looking for good ideas when I stumbled upon a suggestion of the talons of steel. They are steel talons that you wear as gloves. They make you capable of grasping on to certain surfaces and things, also allowing you to climb steep ledges for short periods of time. They can also be thrown/shot as they are attached to a rope that attaches to your hands giving them the ability of grasping onto horizontal poles and swinging from them, much like grappling ropes. And there's 2 of them, so they could be considered double. Lastly, they are good with meelee combat as they are sharp an you wear them on your hands so you can punch things to kill them. The steel talons would replace both the grapping rope and the double grappleshot.
Lantern of truth: As long as it's not a dungeon item good.
Roc's feather:I like it, cool. Maybe this could replace the Deku leaf because with some work, it could be very big and allow you to glide in the air and make gusts of wind by flapping it
Fairy Helper: No, already have beetle.
Bug net: again, why not?
Fishing rod: maybe
Shovel: Oh shit, forgot something in my OP. I'll write it soon, but with it there is no need for a shovel.
Magic violin: Needs a better name and a main purpose, but will do for now.
Epona in a dungeon: Naaaaah. But howabout something even better; the Epona Amulet. It allows you to summon Epona in certain marked spots so you can get it's help to solve puzzles by mounting it so you can run faster jump over gaps and have increased strength.

Now, here's 2 things:
1. Description of the staff of time: It is a long wooden staff that is found in the temple of time. You can use it in meelee but it also has a better use; on certain altar-like structures, lift it high in the air, and you can change what time period a certain area is in, much like a mobile time crystal from LoZ Skyward sword, but can be used in various different places and change the time period to various different eras, which differs from the 2 eras that time crystals can change the time into.
2. Description of the weapon I forgot to mention: No name yet. It is simmilar yet diffrent from the gear top from twilight princess- it is a top that you can stand on and control. By pressing a certain button you make it spin rapidly on the spot, which can dig holes, tunnels (you sin on a soft patch of dirt, it digs the dirt out, and you pop out from a different soft patch of dirt somewhere else), and spin gears. Unlike the gear top, it isn't limited to chains for extra mobility- you can do tricks on it like a Skateboard but more extreme, like ride along a giant half-pipe, do loop-dee-loops and much more.

Apologies for not looking up this topic, should have taken a look at the list before I wrote a new topic.
Anyways, touch-screen combat would be pretty cool. Swiping your finger to cut opponents or tapping to stab and stun the enemy. Another thing I said on my accident was that I hope the next Zelda game has voice-acting. Retro put in Metroid Prime 3 and it was good. Zelda would be a good choice to put voice-acting in too.

I think the swiping would work out much better on the 3DS, but the Wii U has much better controller options.
I don't even know how they would make a Zelda game using all the input methods the gamepad has. Never has a Zelda game had four shoulder buttons or clickabe joysticks. How would that benefit a Zelda game? And if you do use the gamepad, then that completely scraps the Wii remote.

I wouldn't be entirely surprised if you used the Wii remote, but you still used the gamepad, too. Like you would set the gamepad up in front of you and then you could just point at the gamepad to select an item real quick and then get back to the game without pausing or going to a menu or anything. Or maybe even offer some sort of co-op play where the player using the gamepad would be like Navi and they could read information about an enemy or whatever so the player using the gamepad could vocally tell the player with the Wii remote and nunchuck. But also do other things to help, maybe like the Tingle Tuner in Wind Waker. Isn't that cool? If they bring Wind Waker to Wii U, you can just use the gamepad for the tingle tuner! And they should update the icon to look like a gamepad instead of gameboy advance.

There's a lot more dialog in a Zelda game than a Metroid game. With voice acting the cutscenes would as long as Metal Gears'. I'm on the fence with voice acting. I don't care either way. It kind of makes the game more like an interactive novel. Or children's book, I don't know.

I like your lantern of truth idea. It's basically a mask of truth with a lantern, but it's still cool.

I want to see the magnet gloves in a 3D-space Zelda game. I think that it would allow for game mechanics that haven't been seen in a Zelda game.

i would like to see these items return i think link could have tons of new/old items this time around instead of about the same amount of items

  • Mirror shield
  • Bomb arrows
  • Deku leaf
  • Grappling rope
  • Some sort of new incarnation of the Beetle
  • Hammer (but this time, with tons more uses, like smashing different types of crystals that have different effects on you when you smash them (ex. You become fireproof for a bit, or you teleport somewhere)

like these ideas too like the heros bow being able to upgrade like that would be nice
Hero's Bow (Can be upgraded to Crossbow)
Hand Bombs (Throw farther, look cooler, like a grenade)
Lantern of Truth (Lantern to light dark places, and also reveals hidden objects like Poes or invisible platforms)
Roc's Feather (Jump at will, combo with Iron Boots to stomp through bomb-able things)
Fairy Helper (Use Navi to scout like the Beetle)

for this one maybe be able to use in certain places were the dungeon is going to fall down on you and you have a certain time to escape or something?

Epona in a dungeon (Run faster and jump over gaps, perhaps upgrade with Pegasus Shoes and a Lance)

theres one item i liked from OoT that crystal thing that you get with the fire ability would be nice return there was also a green one too

does it really matter what we expect from a zelda game? it's been proven in the past that a zelda game is never predictable, so we'll never know what we're getting until we get the game.

I want a Twilight Princess amotsphere and art style, a town with more to do than OoT's town (not like TP lame town) with the night/day and someway to switch between the two. sleeping would work. I want more Zelda Link romance with maybe a Zelda that's around you more and not just locked away in a tower or where the game is just taunting you with after 5 dungeons on row "Zeldas and the, YES! Wait noo, I just missed again by a few minutes again" and then the game tells you you have to part ways the majority of the rest of the game. I want them to continue on and expand a little on the choices they offered for dialouge when you were talking with somebody in Skyward Sword. I also want them to forfit motion controlls in favor of the gamepad.

But motion controls are awesome, and they keep you from getting fat.

What do I expect from Zelda U?

Well, I guess voice acting will finally make the cut. I can't imagine Nintendo making an HD Zelda title with text-only dialogue.

Personally, I'd like to see Skyward Sword's motion controls return...but I'm sure Nintendo also faces the dilemma of the Game Pad. Maybe they could make a control system that accomodates both input types? Eg. players can use motions controls OR they could substitue for touch-screen swipes. Either way, I just can't see the series revert back to simple button mashing when using Link's sword.

Also (as much as I loved Skyward Sword) I'd like to see Nintendo really take advantage of the Wii U's guts and the 25 gig disc (or maybe even 50 gig for dual-layer?) in order to present the biggest world they could possibly build. Whether set in Hyrule or somewhere else, I want to be able to feel LOST; which is something few games can achieve. This may sound controversial, but I'd like to see Zelda U dispense of traditional map & menus screens, and require Link to glance at a physical sheepskin map and realistically search his being for required items (like Alone in the Dark, Far Cry 2, or Zombi U - but implemented in a more intuitive way).

Ah yes - the items. I'd love to see Nintendo cut back on collectables. First, because I would like to see Link to rely more on technique and improvisation this time around; rather than merely finding the 'right' item/weapon to overcome an obstacle. Remember the Genesis game Landstalker? It was like Zelda, but you only used a sword - and you had to rely on that sword to complete the game, no matter how tough it got. It allowed the player to use technique - rather than arbitrary items. The second reason why I would want Nintendo to reduce the amount of collectables is because it's getting increasingly hard to imagine Link carrying around 3-tons worth of stuff in his pockets...sure, its a personal bugbear of mine...but...yeah.

They haven't made the other zeldas with no dialogue because of not enough room or whatnot, it was because they don't really think the characters should talk (link anyway). I think it would be extremely awkward if they made the main characters talk. It would be like when you played through other M with all her annoying dialogue!
