We all know that the Wii U hardware is buggier than a Mississippi swamp during a hot summer day, but this one takes the cake! So I just purchased a hard-drive for my Wii U and have found that if a download finishes while you are in the Wii U eshop the system crashes saying that the hard-drive was removed or needs more power such as a AC adapter source, but mine is plugged in via an AC adapter so this bug is quite perplexing to say the least and is an epic fail on Nintendo's part. Have any of you experienced this bug as well or have you found another equally strange bug? If so be sure to join this discussion!
I have never seen this bug and actually haven't experienced many bugs on the Wii U itself. I have had plenty of issues with 3rd Party games, just not the Wii U iitself
I've had plenty of bugs including ones that are 100% problems with Wii U's OS such as the one where it just says "Preparing....." indefinitely, but I've not had this one. I've let plenty of (small) games finish downloading (to my usb stick) while still in the eshop and still not encountered this problem...

@Nintenjoe64 Perhaps it's a minor compatibility issue with my hard-drive? I checked and besides that everything works great, the games "even ones that are 10 - 20 GB in size" run smoothly, perhaps even more smothly than when played from the system memory, and the downloads finish in less than ½ of the time when compared to downloading apps and games directly to the Wii U internal memory so it's hardly an issue with the hard-drive itself.
@Neko_Rukiafan every stability update has slightly improved most things but brought me a new problem. Until quick launch was added, my only problems were 3rd party games crashing (frequently). It might be a bug with the eShop at the moment. It crashed on me a couple of times last night.....
I sometimes wonder if my launch model has some iffy hardware in it because I hardly hear anyone else have the same crashing problems.

I used to get a similar problem with my last portable hard drive. It would download and install small games fine, but if I downloaded a game over a half gig it would download the game, get half way through the installation and would just stop. If I downloaded large games to the WiiU's internal memory, I could move it over to the hard drive fine though.
I have noticed that using my current portable hard drive it read/writes alot better, but then I think it's probably because it's USB3 where the last oe was USB2. I know it shouldn't make a difference normally, but in this case it did.

I too have a launch system
People keep saying the Xbox One doesn't have Backwards Compatibility.
I don't think they know what Backwards Compatibility means...

I don't know if USB 3 would be the difference maker, since both machines would need to be USB 3 and the Wii U isn't. Nevertheless, I've always found the Wii U itself to be rock solid. It's the other non-nintendo software and peripherals that I've most often had problems with.
I don't understand why you'd call the Wii U buggier than... some place with bus. I've had a few hiccups with my launch 8GB model (I hear ya, what was I thinking?), but I never found it truly 'buggy,' 'specially after some sweet, sweet stability updates.
My WiiU occasionally freezes, but I can deal with that.
However, my ongoing Internet Browser problem is driving me insane... loading pages freeze, and I have to wait an eternity until it's done, or wait over a minute when trying to close the tab. Even Nintendo's support service doesn't seem to know a solution.
The hard drive might have some power saving mode that is messing up operation. Consult the hard drives manufacturers website and try to find some software for controlling the hard drives settings so you can turn off any such features.
