Except Nintendo indirectly made a promise that there will be a somewhat better 3rd party support for this system at launch. And while Nintendo broke its "promise," this is simply hard times for the company and the affected consumers.

Guess Nintendo has been on hard times for a few generations then. Guess I am the only one who expected bleak 3rd party support for the U?

Correction: you're not the only one. There are quite a lot of people on this site who didn't purchase a Wii U. That's why it's not getting those high sales at the moment. You know?

I never expected Nintendo to attract a lot of 3rd party developers but they have attracted more than before. With Batman, Call of Duty, and Sniper Elite their 3rd Party is already more impressive than last gen

Better 3rd party support doesn't mean all 3rd party games will reach the Wii U.

Why do I get the feeling this thread is going to turn into a few gamers complaining about a game they know almost nothing about that they're not going to buy anyway that's not coming to a system they don't own yet?

It makes a ton Of sense. You said that we don't have any evidence that Nintendo was trying to get the game. That would infer that Nintendo was trying to court Square-enix for exclusively rights.

This being a multiplatform game for current gen systems should also be ready to be on the Wii U as well. This is a new game just announced and releasing this year. If Nintendo has to beg for a game coming to three other last gen platforms than as an OEM Nintendo is failing.

As the platform holder Nintendo shouldn't have to exert interest for a game to come to their platform when its already hitting three others. I could see actively courting square if they wanted it to be exclusive (similar to Bayonetta 2) or they were paying to advertise it for addtional content (see BioShock infinite on PS3 and Tomb Raider on Xbox 360)

@shingi: I can't speak for Nintendo, i have no idea if they had or hadn't been courting anyone for exclusivity rights. i just asked a question because i've honestly never heard of this game before now. if you want to keep cruising the gloom-and-doom route, by all means carry on, idc, but it looks like you're putting words into my mouth now and I don't appreciate that at all. :/

In regards to the actual game: sounds good to me. Nice horror vibe and Square Enix does horror well - played Nanashi No Game a few years back and enjoyed it a lot.

I can do that, too, and I can readily admit that I do NOT hold a degree in any of those areas, I do NOT hold any job experience in those areas, and my opinions (and that's what they are- OPINIONS) on business matters like these will forever and always be the musings of a devoted gaming fan. Your internet armor is showing some gaps, sir. You don't know that. You DON'T know that. None of us know what deals, courting, petitions, pay offs, persuasion, etc. go on behind the scenes. Your words show me that you have no real knowledge on the subject, which is fine, but you are using your bluster to attack a console that hasn't even had a chance to get its legs yet, and that is annoying.

Why didn't the 360 get Ni No Kuni? The 3DS has it in Japan. Why is Microsoft the only "big three" platform to not get it? They must be doomed. Why didn't the 360 get Okami? The PS3 and the Wii did. They must be doomed. The earlier Halo games have been ported to the PC. No love for the Playstation. They must be doomed.

I do have to wonder why people who don't own a Wii U or seem to have much stated interest in the platform - going so far as to have the manufacturer of a rival console-maker as their forum handle - would bother to repeatedly post in such a forum and largely posts which tend to be negative regarding it. I think there's an Internet term for such people, but for the life of me I cannot recall it...

Isn't everything? Surely we should be asking why a company which is apparently losing its backside on consoles to the degree that it moans about it in the press, isn't making Call of Duty clones or the next GTA instead of wasting time with some pansy-ass murder mystery game?

First of all: i buy a Nintendo console because i want to play Nintendo games. Most of the XBox and PS3 games do not interest me at all and i couldn't care less if they get ported or not. ANd like it or not; the success of a Nintendo console is ultimately determined by the quality & appeal of first party AAA games.
Secondly: porting a game to the Wii U takes a bit more effort (and money) and with a small installed base and a shrinking market, publishers take a wait and see approach to any investments. Once the consoles really start selling, third parties will release more Wii U games. And then we'll complain about all the shovelware

What world are you living in? Third Party titles have always been key to Nintendo's success - or the lack there of. Did you forget the Nintendo 64's failure, AKA the console that was basically carried solely by Nintendo? Do you really think the Wii was successful thanks to Nintendo alone? Sure, maybe no Third Party titles won't matter to you, but it'll matter to a lot of other people, not the least of which will be Nintendo themselves.

To be fair if Nintendo didn't release top-quality stuff for their systems they probably would have hit the wall a loooooong time ago...

Nintendo would be a handheld only company at this point in the ball game if it wasnt for them making the Wii. Doing something different and not going head to head with Sony and Microsoft saved them. If you remember the N64 and Gamecube hurt Nintendo a lot. So the 1st party AAA games were not enough for them to ride on.
