I know this is cheating but any new 2D Mario and Donkey Kong platformers. They don't make proper use of modern technology, are overpriced, unoriginal, and easily beaten in all categories except graphics (which still aren't very special) by 20 year old games. The "side-scrolling revival" is getting really, really old.

While I don't disagree that the 2D Mario and Donkey Kong Country games need to die in a fire, the problem isn't any of things you mentioned, since those aren't problems. No, their problem is that neither series were ever good in the first place, and the "Side Scrolling revival" has done nothing but emphasize this by the sheer amount of quality 2D Platformers that have far outshined these games.
If someone has no clue what or who our pink friend is, and they happen to stumble upon somebody (presumably a male) in their 20’s playing Kirby’s Epic Yarn, I think most peoples reaction would be, man, this is like for little kids.

That's just like your opinion, man.
Super Mario World still > than virtually every Indie or Rayman 2D platformer.
It's an old genre that Indie devs, Nintendo, and Ubisoft milk because they're cheap to make. It's outdated and overused , we got out of 2D platformers on consoles in the late 90's, not happy that they're remotely back and that the "Mario 3D" side-series takes notes from them. We had 3D Rayman and Donkey Kong games in 1999, great games too.

First Off: That is also your opinion. Unfortunately, your opinion is wrong. Garbage>Super Mario World. This is well known opinionated fact located under article 32 of the True Facts Compendium, aka the "Oxymoron Clause", enacted in January 33rd of 1999. (Conveniently located by article 31 "Wikipedia is Thuth" and Article 33 "All Toasters do Indeed Toast Toast")
Speaking of which, Rayman Legends wins all the games.
Secondly 3D Donkey Kong is crap, unless you enjoy having to go through the same area 5 times just to collect the different colored bananas. In which case you enjoy crap.

I'm sorry, but I had to rub my eyes twice. I can't believe what I am reading. 2D Mario and Donkey Kong Country were never good to start with... You have to be sarcastic when saying that, because otherwise, that type of poopoocacapoodledoodle is absolute nonsense! I mean, that's just insane! What kind of Nintendo fan says that Mario or Donkey Kong Country were never good to start out with?! You would only say that if you truly hate Nintendo with all your heart and praise XBox or Play Station! I don't even think PC lovers would say that! 2D Mario and DKC REVOLUTIONIZED 2D Platforming when they first came out and it just blew EVERYBODY'S MIND! It was INSANE what Nintendo and Rare did with the gameplay and graphics, and there is no doubt that EVERY 2D platformer today is inspired by either one of them!

1) I was kinda joking, relax. Kinda. As in I understand that they're good games (well, most of them). You still couldn't pay me to play any of them, though.
2) If so many games are "inspired" by them, how come so many 2D Platformers I've played don't play anything like them? Seriously, what games are you playing nowadays that are still inspired by these games?
Anyway, Star Fox should not die. A space shooter genre is amazing and I loved Star Fox 64 3D! They're just not doing the sequels correctly! Same goes for Kirby. The two Wii Kirby titles just showed how good Kirby titles were unlike the DS games, and I hope that Triple Deluxe incorporates the gameplay feature that we all love from Super Smash Bros! When I played Kirby in Super Smash Bros Brawl, I fell in love and started buying the games rather than just watching the anime. I'm glad that I never bought the DS games, though, because I heard that they were a disgrace.
Ice Climbers could make an awesome 3D puzzle, 3D platformer, or 3D adventure game! F-Zero would look also with the HD graphics and I could imagine awesome features with the gamepad! This is coming from a guy that ahs never played an F-Zero game, though. Metroid Prime needs to stay because, when I bought the Trilogy, I couldn't get enough of it. I was instantly hooked for hours like when I played Pikmin 3 for the first time!! It's just so thrilling and exciting!
As for Animal Crossing, all it needs is for less repetition and a bigger town. Sheesh, I need more room. Also, more control over who moves in. I'm tired of everyone moving in front of my house to ruin the river view!! There also needs to be a more efficient, late game method to get more money. It's impossible to earn 100M for that one badge, and too repetitive to play for 500 hours. I can't even play for 200 hours after playing at least an hour a day for three to four months straight.
Kid Icarus is like the Nintendo DMC (Devil May Cry) and I love it. Fire Emblem reminds me of when I played Lord of the Rings on my GBA as a small child, and I'm glad to see that Nintendo has a game with similar style to what I played about ten years ago. Super Mario Galaxy needs to return, but other than that, Mario is awesome with each new game. I love the world designs and how it's sometimes a challenge to get to the finish line. Both 2D and 3D Zelda franchises are perfect as they are. Obviously, the same goes with Pokemon. I like the classic Mystery Dungeon spin-offs, and Pokemon Ranger is also quite fun until I lose my stylus. Other than that, all other Pokemon spin-offs are terrible and not worth it unless Aipom is the star. The Mario spin-offs are also fun, although I have never played his Sports games. Donkey Kong is my second favorite 2D Platformer after Mario and before Kirby.
I apologize if I rambled on too long, but that's my opinion on why most of Nintendo's franchises should stay. I may have forgotten a few, but some that I left out, such as Wario or Mario / Sonic at the Olympics are easily replaced by other franchises and don't appeal to me well and should, actually be abandoned. I have not named any of the Eshop titles, mainly because I haven't played any, but I have yet to buy them. (Although I do have Dillon's Rolling Western in my Downloaded Software folder on my 3DS)

You scared me, there! I meant to type "every good 2D platformer," but I guess that I forgot to type it. That happens when you have so many opinions in your head in my following reply. Yeah, I would like to know at least one platformer that would convince me that they were not inspired my Mario or Donkey Kong Country. Rayman and Little Big Planet or two games in my head that makes me believe that they were inspired somehow by either one of the two franchises.

N+? VVVVVV? Super Meat Boy? Nin-2Jump? Mega Man? Castlevania?
Stop me if I'm going too fast for ya. I honestly don't think there are as many games inspired by those games as you think, especially games like N+ or Super Meat Boy, where there are no enemies to attack and just you jumping ability to get past varying forms of obstacles. Unless you're trying to say that Mario invented jumping, I don't really see the resemblence there.
zelda. honestly, i am a huge zelda fan, but the way that recent games have turned out (looking at SS, ALBW, & TP), its time to bury the casket already.
