ROB appeared as a character in Mario Kart DS. Did ROB ever get a new game appearance before Brawl?
Really, I think your arguments are stretching it even then. I doubt they were deliberately referencing GBA ports of Mario games in the Mario Kart titles on DS (or even GBA).
@Unca_Lz The main point here is that no Mario Kart track in Mario Kart history has ever had a track theme based on a game that was farther back then one generation. Maybe they're just branching out. Maybe it does mean nothing. It probably means nothing. But I think it could mean something, because like I've said numerous times, no Mario Kart ever has made an entire track based off a game that released 12 years before that Mario Kart game. That's a fact.
@CM30 That's a good point with R.O.B. But, he is a character, not a track... His inclusion in MKDS is quite strange. Also, Nintendo was clearly referencing Super Mario Advance 4 with the Airship level in Mario Kart DS.

This post is exactly what I mean by you're trying to hard.
@DudeSean: Or maybe a Sunshine themed stage had become a mainstay of the series. It's been done three times already. It's just like Bowser's Castle and Rainbow Road, except the name changes each time.

You have the right to disagree with me and the ability to consider anything valid that I say; Please exercise both.
@Jazzer94 Everyone here seems to be ignoring that fact. I'm just trying to make sure people realize it. Whether anyone here wants to recognize it or not it is a fact.
@turtlelink lol. Every Mario Kart game? Half of the Mario Kart games were made before Sunshine, so that's clearly not true. Mario Kart 7 didn't have a Sunshine themed course, either.
So, once again, never has Mario Kart game featured a track theme based on a game that wasn't on the current or previous platform.
Sorry, I meant post Sunshine release.
Besides, many of the tracks don't even seem to be based on many past games. Also, the Airship Fortress level in MKDS is based on SMB3.
This new stage could be 1 of 2 things. 1.It is a new stage that hints at nothing. 2.It's a huge hint towards a new game. As much as I want this to be a new game, I don't see it happening.

I hope so. I'm not sure why everyone here is so eager to completely dismiss the possibility as if it were the most ridiculous suggestion imaginable. It really isn't that unlikely, especially if it was even just a simple HD remake.

Mario Kart Wii has references from games released 8+ years ago. Your fact proves nothing
Of course, just like the inclusion of Samus, Fox, Falco, and Captain Falcon hints that there will be more Metroid, Star Fox, and F-Zero games on the Wii U.
I think it's likely to show up on Wii U VC, eventually. I know everyone complains about the VC, but they could mix up GCN VC releases with GBA and Dreamcast. Not saying it will happen, but I think it's pretty likely. I would think GBA link games would show up, too, but I might be going a bit far, there.
The track is just like every other Mario Kart track; it hints at nothing. After all, there's no Wii Sports Resort on 3DS, and even if Sunshine does appear on Wii U in the future, this track has nothing to do with it.
