That does sound useful. But I wouldn't say that would make the Wii U version the best. You can do this stuff all ready with PS4 and Xbox providing you have a smart phone or tablet.

The Wii-U version would have been the best!! Imagine....instead of pausing the game and selecting a weapon from the menu like on the other versions, on the Wii-U you could have just stopped your character on the street, then taken your eyes off the tv screen to look down at the tablet in your lap, then you used your finger to move things around, then you could look back at the screen and continue playing! Much more intuitive!!

Unless your playing multiplayer or in the middle of a fire fight where looking down could get you killed. I think for hacking or having a map the gamepad would be better.

It will be horrible if its true. I wanted to play it and I guess I won't now! I think it has to do with the always online part more then anything. Nintendo servers suck! Its the reason Zen Pinballs leader boards are so messed up! So many problems Nintendo does have.

Won't be the last AAA title if the rumors are true.

Yup, I love Nintendo, they tried, but I feel I won't be let down by my PS4. Nintendo did a lot of things wrong (some faults only being in retrospection), Sony so far, has done a lot of things rights.

Because Nintendo has no other incomes outside of gaming, it has to be conservative about losses.

The Wii U Gamepad was not conservative at all...but it definitely meant losses...for a less powerful console (than PS4/XB1) to boot. It's also huge, heavy, has an extremely cheap battery, and is an expensive nightmare to replace.

Next Nintendo console (please let there be one) has to be quite powerful, even if that means fewer features and a very compact, conservative design like the Gamecube or Dreamcast. Spend your budget on silicon and a great ergonomic controller (Gamecube's was nearly perfect IMO) and try to win third parties back. Companies like Ubisoft and Activision seem to genuinely like Nintendo as long as they can make some profit on their ports...so make it easy for them and encourage companies like that.

Gimmicks are fine, the word gimmick only seems to have negative connotations among some "hardcore" (how pretentious) gamers. If it entertains people and sells a product, it's fine imo. The Wii U's attempt at a second screen was not fine.

Keep calm and preorder Watch_Dogs:

[UPDATE 2, 2:58PM:]Good news, everyone! GameStop Italy and our U.S.-based source have both said that this was all a glitch in the system and that Watch Dogs is—or will soon be—available for pre-order for Wii U again in Italy and the U.S. Apologies for making everyone nervous about this and for not getting that all sorted prior to publishing the first time. Normally capable people are able to seamlessly glance towards the second screen for quick intuitive easy touching of the finger while still looking peripherally at the main screen without stopping or anything. I guess I know why Wii U is not selling well. Too many incompetent gamers.

I still say this rumor may have some legs afterall. Why didn't UBISoft come out and refute this right away? Sounds like some games being played by both sides. It does feel good though that there must of been enough of an uproar for GameStop to look into this a bit more. At least someone is making their voices heard!

My TV is mounted up on the wall. That's definitely not happening unless I play with the Gamepad in outstretched arms. Like a Tae Kwon Do instructor holding a block of wood for a pupil to chop.

I think people don't understand how easy it is to use the GamePad until they actually use it. Like in Batman Arkham City (or Origins) the map is on the GamePad screen. How likely are you going to look at the map while in a fight or while doing anything actively? The GamePad allows for quicker use of menus and items, not having to wait for those menus to load. The GamePad is not that hard to use.

People keep saying the Xbox One doesn't have Backwards Compatibility.
I don't think they know what Backwards Compatibility means...

It makes me worried for the future drivers of the world that they can't look at their side mirrors and drive at the same time. Its not rocket science people.

... so, how can you say that is 'without any indication of success'?

The PlayStation 4 has very likely already outsold the Wii U too ... in less than two months.

I'm talking pre-launch, not post-launch. People decided Wii U was "doomed" when it was announced at E3 2011. That's not really a reasonable opinion, considering it was based on literally nothing. I'm just trying to point out that people never gave Wii U a chance in the first place.

It would be like if I said the new Xbox was going to be trash, because it would be called Xbox 720, which is a stupid name. BTW, green is a crappy logo color. None of that really indicates anything, but people still formed opinions on "information" like that.

It doesn't really matter. DS, 3DS, and Wii were all "supposed to fail", too. People just don't learn, or possibly remember.

On topic about Watch Dogs, I think it's possible they thought they could silently cancel the Wii U version. However, once the internet caught wind of it and it ended up being posted everywhere, Ubisoft changed their minds and said to themselves "better to take the financial loss than tarnish our reputation with Nintendo gamers...", lol

@ZyroXZ2 I see what you did there!

I will give them credit for at least caring. They do have the most 3rd party games out on the system so they have the most to lose!

Until sales pick up, I doubt we'll get much more than the annual Assassin's Creed and Call of Duty, maybe Batman Arkham if we're lucky. It is what it is- I'll buy any good 3rd party Wii U games that come our way, but I can live without them on the console. I bought a Wii U for the exclusives, so any multiplats are just a bonus in my eyes (a good bonus though- again, I'll buy whatever they decide to port).

As for Watch Dogs, I have it pre ordered for Wii U instead of PS4. For one, Wii U has free online, and I refuse to pay for online gaming. I just won't do it. And Watch Dogs will naturally be using the Gamepad, which I think will be a splendid fit for such a game. It just makes sense if you know what I mean. Also, while I would be ok with the game being right on par with the PS3/360 versions, apparently it's going to be more along the lines of Call of Duty Ghosts, which came pretty close to the PS4 version in comparison. So it's not even going to have a significant difference visually either. Lastly, I support developers who port to Wii U, through and through. They cared enough to keep Nintendo gamers in mind, so I care enough to spend my money on it.

I can definitely understand some people choosing other versions over Wii U, but I think a fair amount of multi-console Wii U gamers will be taking these factors into consideration. I wouldn't be surprised if a good number of gamers buy the Wii U version as opposed to the other ports.
