I'd be very surprised if it got cancelled, but it's not impossible. They'll have very good sales estimates based in market data, and if the profit from those estimates are lower than the cost of getting the game finished, they'll can it. I doubt that would be the case here though.

yeah but considering the money they probably already used in this project I'd say in the worst case they will make it Eshop only to avoid production costs and try to at least reach the break even point

I'd say Watch_Dogs getting cancelled has no chance of happening. They've already spent millions on the Wii U version. I think the Wii U version is actually what got this gsme delayed in the first place, but that's just a wild guess, though I have reasons to think that.

Anyway, Nintendo has money, so Wii U won't just disappear. If Nintendo absolutely had to, they'd probably just keep buying exclusive games.

I don't see 3rd parties abandoning Wii U. They've supported Xbox One and PS4 without any indication of success, and have already been invested into the install base. Wii U's install base has been built from Nintendo and a few 7th gen ports. The install base can only get better if 3rd parties support it, much like the apparent selling points of the other 2 consoles.

If 3rd party games are a selling point for Xbox One and PS4, they can be for the Wii U.

Hi guys!
First of all, i would like to say that i fully agree with SCAR392, IMO it's nearly impossible that the Wii U version will be cancelled!

That said... the article describing the situation in Italy, with Gamestop, it's not fake!!

I'm italian, i live near Pavia, in Lomabardia, northern italy. I already visited two gamestop (and called other three) and all the employees are fully convinced that the game will not come out for Wii U! If you try to pre-order it, they will force to change your mind and pre-order another version or another game...
If you go to gamestop .it ( http://www.gamestop.it/ ) and you saerch "Watch Dogs" in the search window up there (the one with the label "cerca") you will see that the search results will include every version of Watch Dogs ecxept the Wii U one!
If you go to the Wii U page ( http://www.gamestop.it/WiiU ), you can still see the game in the "Hot Titles" list... But, if you click on it, the browser will send you back to the homepage...

This situation is affecting ONLY ITALY... I repeat ONLY ITALY...

For example, if you go to Gamestop.com you will find the Wii U version of Watch Dogs without problems!

I really don't know what the hell is going on here...

If someone has some info (maybe a fellow italian who is reading this forum) please let me know!

Hey, who would have thought they were going to pull that crap with Rayman Legends when it was two weeks or less from launch on the Wii U? Ubisoft is like that girlfriend that your paranoid of, she might act kind to your face, but every once and a great while, who knows what kind of s$%t she will pull. Granted, Rayman Legends was not cancelled, but it fits into the Nintendo demographic, Watch Dogs? Not so much........

But overall, I'm still cautiously optimistic that it will be released for the Wii U.

I think 3rd parties have dug themselves their own holes. As seen in the recent story about Tomb Raider breaking even, AAA games need a MINIMUM of 5 million sales for the game to be worth its investment.
That's a ridiculous number. Heck, that's like a music album going 5x Platinum in less than a year--while costing $60!

The Wii U alone could never generate those kinds of sales. And, especially since the costs for 'next gen' are that much higher, 3rd parties would need to sell at least one million copies on each platform: Xbox 360, PS3, PC, XBO, PS4, Wii U. Why else would Square Enix re-release Tomb Raider after one year?
If Watchdogs is the last AAA 3rd Party title on Wii U, it's not out of choice, or because publishers hate Nintendo. It's because of the nature of the business that they brought on to themselves! If this trend continues I don't think we'll even see one genuine AAA game per year on any system.

The PlayStation 4 sold 4.2 million consoles in a little under six weeks.

... so, how can you say that is 'without any indication of success'?

The PlayStation 4 has very likely already outsold the Wii U too ... in less than two months.

Nintendo games usually manage to do that but genuine question what has been the best selling 3rd party game on the N64, Gamecube & Wii and how many copies did they sell?

Finished to spoke with an Area Manager (from Gamestop Italia) right now.

Watch Dogs for Wii U is confirmed (even here in Italy).

It was only Gamestop Italia trolling us in the past two days.... They have sent an email to every italian store saying that the Wii U version was cancelled... But the mail was based on a rumor spread by the italian distributor of the game... wow... unbelievable....

Seriously a rumor???? They are very professional...

I'm sorry for my first post in this thread, but i was really worried because they (Gamestop) were telling everybody the Watch Dogs Wii U wasn't coming out...

Never lose faith in how much Gamestop can make you angry

If I were a cynical sort of person, I would suspect the rumour was started by Ubisoft to panic Wii U owners into supporting the game.

Oh wait, I am a cynical sort of person.

Isn't it obvious that Falco Lombardi is actually a parrot?

As i was reading through the comments i was thinking the same thing! I'm another one who would pick Watch Dogs over Mario Kart 8. If this rumor of a cancellation shows some legs down the road it wouldn't surprise me. I really want to play this game and if not on the Wii U then i guess i won't be playing it as it's my only option!

I don't think Watch Dogs Cancellation would be that big of a financial hit for UbiSoft, it was probably going to be a neutered PS3/360 port anyway!

Posts may be more salty than Nintended!

That's where you would be wrong. They're working on this from the ground up on the Wii U. Said the graphics would be somewhere between PS360 and PS4Xboxone

Bummer!!

The Wii-U version would have been the best!! Imagine....instead of pausing the game and selecting a weapon from the menu like on the other versions, on the Wii-U you could have just stopped your character on the street, then taken your eyes off the tv screen to look down at the tablet in your lap, then you used your finger to move things around, then you could look back at the screen and continue playing! Much more intuitive!!
