Topic: Has anyone actually BEATEN the Ecco the Dolphin series?

A curious question that hardly is ever asked.

To those who played it, has anyone ever beat it?

I have the sequel and used to get to a level where Ecco swam up a stream that went to the sky...unfortunately...there was a squid to get past which I never managed to get past.

I also hated the sound of Ecco's death scream when he/she ran out of air.

So anyway, anyone ever beat the game regardless?

I haven't played that game since I was 5.
and it was a pain to beat

I recall going to some kind of cave level before ragequitting

Anyway, I never got far in this game despite playing the game for hours and hours. It's very difficult.

i have all of themi think on the ps3 version of sega collection of over 40 titles, i tried it but well i never understood it though i know its a get to one end of the level to the next needless to say i havent played that particular game since

I had this game for my megadrive when I was 8, I couldn't get past the first level!

@Starlight - are you asking us if we beat any game of the series or if we actually beat the first game? Your thread title is a bit misleading considering your first post.

If it's the former (and I'm hoping that's the case), then I only beat Ecco Jr. a few times, that's it. I never played the Dreamcast iteration. If it's the latter, then the answer is "no".

I mean any game of the series in general, including Jr.

I can't believe how few a people have completed it...I know it's hard...but I thought it was possible!

Beaten the series? No. I beat Ecco the Dolphin on Game Gear though and one for the Genesis. Didn't get around to playing the others but I loved those.

The first game was too difficult to enjoy in my opinion...in 1993...unfortunately...maybe now it is possible because of my gaming experience over the years.

I just couldn't get into the series. My first time ever playing it was when I bought Tides of time on VC. I really wanted to like it. I just wasn't having alot of fun with the game. Sure the Graphics and music are pretty impressive for the time but gameplay wise it's far too frustrating and I just lost interest. I sorta regret my purchase because I doubt I'll ever come back to it.

What's the ending like? I hear the last parts scared many gamers off.

Nope. I've tried many times, but I just end up getting stuck eventually and getting bored.
