I don't even like turn based RPGs, and I might buy this. I tried it a little before, and the comedy is spot on. I just wish it were an ARPG, but ah well.
I seriously doubt Nintendo was actually worried about it. It was probably more of a lighthearted thing. Considering how he holds it in the final film (very daintily), it's possible the original had him holding it more rough and clumsy like.
@DarkKirby: But that was a pre rendered cutscene. We all know those aren't really how the game will be. They claimed all of this was how the game was actually going to look and play. They flat out lied, not mislead.
@GiftedGimp: Except after everything Gearbox did wrong, I don't think Sega would trust them with more money. Even if it did turn out well, people already lost interest. It wouldn't make even half the money back. At this point, it's better to just let it die quietly.
If the unit was to be recycled for some water bottles or some crap, what harm would it do if someone took it and used it? The reason recycling exists is so that things aren't left in landfills that could be used for other purposes. If it's being used for it's initial purpose and not filling a landfill, what's the problem?
@mariobro4: The fact that the game is terrible and no matter what they did to the Wii U version it'll still be a low mediocre at the unrealistically best?
After all the awful reviews (and from what I understand, Gearbox's outright lies to SEGA about what they were doing with the money), SEGA probably doesn't want to release it because they'd just lose more money.
Let's be honest, even if this version is actually fantastic and everything we thought it'd be, it would still do average at best in sales because everyone already lost interest and had their views tainted by the horrible reviews.
ProJared's thoughts on the game. He basically explains, or at least gives a very hard to dismiss theory, on why the game ended up so bad, and how the developers basically lied and hid the fact that the game was a mess.
NFC shouldn't be used as a way to gouge more money out of us. However, if NFC was added to different figures and collectibles from popular franchises and using it just added little bonuses and cool effects, then that would be cool. I buy gaming related figurines all the time. If they just also happened to interact with their respective companies games, that would be cool.
I love RUNNER, it's such a great game, but..... Ugh, I just hate the style and tone this game has taken. It left the whole "Retro Reboot" style behind and instead went with "We did all of the coke" style.
@Haxonberik, Scott Pilgrim on XBLA was really good, too. The Simpsons Game, The Incredibles, Lord of the Rings The Two Towers, Toy Story 2, and The World is Not Enough are all good too. Harry Potter 4 is also not terrible, if I remember correctly.
Exactly. Everyone should buy this game because it is actually a fantastic game. But buy it on the Wii U if you have the option, not on the others. Though it's rather doubtful, if the Wii U sales surpassed or at least met the sales of the other consoles, Ubisoft might stop thinking their games will fail on the platform.
I don't see the big deal. Yeah, it's a little lame, but to not buy the game? Relax. Support this game, don't be stupid. If you want exclusives to last on the Wii U, don't freak out over something so small. The game is still Wii U exclusive (and 3ds, but you know what I mean), and it hasn't been delayed.
By being whiny and boycotting the game, you're just going to damage the game's sales, and make Capcom think people don't want the game, or at least not on this console.
The problem isn't that they ported it, it's that the push is almost definitely just to port the game and have them all release simultaneously.
Yes, it sucks that it's no longer exclusive. It's a hard blow to the console. But is it really so bad? If the game is actually good, I'm glad others will get to experience it too. Besides, I'm pretty positive the WiiU version will still be definitive, since the game was developed with the tablet in mind. The other versions will most likely have some sort of shortcut or clunky control scheme to get around it.
Unless they change the Wii U version to match the other two more, or add a bunch of bonus stuff to the other two versions to make up for it, in which case, yeah, up yours Ubisoft.
I feel like the industry needs to stop assuming that low sales=bad product or marketing. People don't have a lot of spending money these days. They could've done everything right, and released it along side a new Zelda or Smash Bros, and I guarantee it still wouldn't have sold as well as they wanted.
As for Iwata leaving, I agree it sounds more like he's just not considering failure as an option and not that he'll step down. Iwata clearly has a passion for games, something other big developers seem to lack. I think Nintendo would be crazy to let him step down.
@Farmboy74: Unfortunately, I feel as though many "developers" will still view the Wii U as a family console, despite Nintendo's efforts to bring back long-time gamers, and thus, no matter what, we will continue to have these releases.
That said, I feel it may be on a much smaller scale than the Wii. Not only was the Wii U marketed more as a traditional console and not "HEY, YOUR GRANDMA CAN PLAY TOO! HOW 'BOUT DAT?!" but Miiverse seems to indicate that people aren't buying into this trash.
@TrueWiiMaster I certainly hope so. At least, the developers of the games could have sales. If I'm not mistaken, Sega held a couple sales on the Wii VC at one point. I don't see why the same couldn't happen now.
Also, side thought. While it might be unlikely, wouldn't it be freaking amazing if split screen games allowed one player to be on the Gamepad alone, so their screen wouldn't appear on the TV? An option to toggle that would be even better.
I read somewhere that porting your Wii VC games to the Wii U would require a dollar or so in order to upgrade them for use with the Gamepad? Is that true?
@LordJumpMad While I agree they need to start doing something different, the gameplay in Zelda is ageless. There's nothing wrong with it, it's just too samey now.
I'm glad Nintendo is trying to do different things, but I hope it's for the best.
Kinda disappointed by this news. I would've rather had the art style of Yoshi's Island (and the gameplay, to boot). That said, a new Yoshi game is cool, and I don't doubt it'll be good.
Why Wind Waker? It's the one game that will look good forever because of its style. Hell, this new HD edition will probably age faster than the original. I feel like Twilight Princess would've better suited the HD update.
Not entirely sure what the point is :/ The first game is so broken and hard to play, and the second game has such an improved vocabulary that playing the first game is completely pointless.
Aside from Smash Bros, I still don't have a good reason to care about the Wii U. Especially when 2 of the biggest releases for the console are games I already have.
We can all guarantee that Pac Man will be playable, which I must say I'd quite like. I'm happy to hear Namco seems to actually care about this project and isn't just doing it for the cash.
@SKTTR I agree. There should be NO moderation on posts between friends. If they do that, then I don't understand why they're marketing this as a more mature console (or at least one adults can thoroughly enjoy too), because they're still forcing these "child locks" on us.
@chiptoon: Agreed. Absolutely absurd that they would do that. Honestly, I think it comes down to laziness. And fanboys, don't put laziness past Nintendo; remember, they actually SAID that the only reason there are 2 toads in NSMBW instead of Wario and Waluigi or something is because they were more like Mario and Luigi and were easier to program.
