I love MegaMan: Network Transmission. I've never heard anyone say they hate it, but I never hear any praise for it, either. It's highly underrated.

As a person who has purchased and played Network Transmission twice, think I'm obligated to tell you why it sucks:

  • The stages aren't particularly very interesting or well designed, and are often too long
  • Mega Man and his enemies move too slow, making the game rather dull
  • The Mega Buster is useless, often forcing you to rely on your very limited and randomly distributed Battlechips
  • It's incredibly difficult to restock your chips
  • 1-ups are too limited
all of which add up to create one incredibly frustrating and unfun game. Honestly, I'mpressed anyone has the patience to handle such a trying game.

...they give up during the somewhat frustrating early stages.

Most likely this one. I'll admit, I could never get very far in it, no matter how much I tried, and I've known few who ever even got past Level 3. The difficulty at the beginning is almost unfair.

Also, why do I need upgrades to increase my live cap? In the classic games, you can have up to 9 right from the start. Why do I need to upgrade my buster in order to make it even decent, when I need it at the beginning more than ever because I have so few chips? If the game is so unbelievably frustrating at the beginning, what sense is there to put up with the rest of the game?

Just outta curiousity, which Mega Man games had you played before trying Network Transmission?

I'm definitely below average in skill compared to other experienced gamers, but I didn't have that much trouble getting past the early levels. I still need to go back and finish it, but I'm almost through the whole game. Just remember that you can log out when you're low on health on your last life to reset your lives and keep all the chips and money you collected. You almost have to do this at least once on the first level. You have to replay the whole level, but it gets easier the more you collect. It also extends the replay value. Eventually, you'll have enough chips and purchased upgrades to get past the early levels. Once you get past Gutsman, the game actually becomes much easier until near the end of the game.

This was actually my first Mega Man game, as I enjoyed the anime based on the Battle Network spinoff series (of which Network Transmission for GameCube is a part of story-wise). I eventually got Battle Network 5 for GBA, which I enjoy but also have yet to finish. I've never played the classic Mega Man games, as I never had an NES or SNES, and from what I've heard, the ones on VC and WiiWare are probably too hard for me. I'll probably get Mega Man 10 because of its easy mode.

Ash: Professor Oak, how's your Bulbasaur?
Prof. Oak: Oh, it only hurts when I sit.
...
Prof. Oak: It's only Chansey if Krabby won't let go. Bye, now.
Ash: I don't think I'm going to call him anymore.

Wind Waker. Yes, I know, a lot of people love that game, but for some reason all of my friends have either never played it or absolutely hate it. But then again, a lot of my friends are Nintendo haters... :I

It was multi platform but I'm still going to count it-
Legends of Wrestling II- it had an insane amount of wrestlers that allowed you to build REAL dream cards, the story mode (career) was awesome and just the LJN WWF FIgure looking graphics were great. Not to mention that most of the roster had different era versions of the wrestlers. Where else could you have 60's era Bruno Sammartino against 80's Hulk Hogan or pit The Road Warriors vs. The Shiek and Sabu?

It had a few flaws such as the moves really weren't always signature moves (but who wants to watch a match with nothing but headlocks?) and the control scheme took a bit to get used to. But for what you can get it for now, you won't find a better wrestling game for your money.

I am the one you despise. I am he who says what you really deep down know but are affraid to admit. I am the Anti-Fanboy, the crusader of truth in a world built on your lies.

If you don't own them already, get the Wii versions NOW!

Didn't most people like Pikmin?

The Game.

Is it after 9PM EST? You should probably ignore the above post.

Well it's hard for me to say since I bought all my Gamecube games based off of positive reviews (bought all 33 games last year). The Gamecube was much better than most people realize. There were some let downs though since some of the more popular games weren't quite on par with their N64 predecessors. I think Metroid Prime made up for most of the systems faults. There's probably at least 15 other games I should have for my Gamecube collection to be complete but I'm not sure if I'll get there or not.

Hmm, well Super Mario Sunshine, Kirby Air Ride, Mario Kart Double Dash, and Pokemon Channel (I don't care what anybody says, I actually enjoyed that game!)

actually Double Dash isnt hated that much. X-Play actually said it was better than Melee

Double Dash was a great game, it was just unique with the 2 in a kart. Super Mario Sunshine may not have been the big leap that Mario 64 was, but it was still a great game, and satisfied the need for a big Mario platformer for the GameCube.

Really, most of the big GCN titles were either great, or not as great as its N64 predecessor, but still great!

Super Mario Sunshine (got back into it recently)
Mario Party 7 (best Mario Party ever)

Dragon's Lair 3D. i actually just got this yesterday, and i'm definitely enjoying it. yeah, it feels really dated and the controls are imprecise, but i'm getting a LOT of enjoyment out of it anyway, for some reason i can't really put my finger on.

If it fits the thread requirements, I liked Custom Robo quite a bit, even if it got old after a while.

There can only be one, like in that foreign movie where there could only be one, and in the end there is only one dude left, because that was the point.

Mario 4, 5, and 7. i know that a lot of people were miffed that it was basically "more of the same" every year, but I happened to enjoy them (6 was the only dissapointment...for some reason i just couldn't get into it)

I enjoyed them too, including 6. For a bunch of basic mini-games, they were pretty fun. Mario Party 8 was a major disappointment after them, IMO.

I've often heard good things about RE-Make, actually. Many people prefer it over the original game, to tell you the truth.

Funny. I thought 6 was the best of the bunch, after 5.

The Simpsons Road Rage springs to mind. Yes, it was a filthy Crazy Taxi rip-off, but there's nowt really wrong with emulating one of the best games of all time and combining it with one of the best cartoons of all time. Fun for a bit.

Yeah, I loved that game.

I had a bit of fun with Lost Kingdoms, I don't know if anyone else liked that... Star Fox Assault too. I know people say it doesn't do Lylat Wars justice, but I'd have Assault over that any day.

Anyone else play Freedom Fighters? It was this crazy 3rd-person alternate history game where the Soviet Union had occupied the US. It wasn't exclusive to GCN so isn't strictly a Cube game, but that's where I played it and had a ton of fun.

Also, Geist is pretty cool. Killer 7 was mad divisive but I liked the cut of its jib.
