Thank you for the responses a bit up the page, guys. All I'm saying is, PLEASE make your own decisions rather than simply following the masses on the internet. It's cool to hate on EA, I get it, but that doesn't mean that you need to. They've made bad decisions, yes, just like every company out there. But be open-minded and realize that EA is a huge company made up of numerous, numerous people, many of whom are probably just like you and me and truly love games. I say this for any company. Just come to your own decisions and realize that opinions are opinions, not fact, including what I'm typing right now!

With that being said, this is a really great deal, especially if you enjoy EA's sports games. You just have to weight the costs out for your own situation.

I'm feel that most of this hate towards EA from Nintendo fans is because of them not supporting the Wii U any longer honestly.

@Chrono_Cross makes good points.

You may not agree with EA as a whole but to say that all of their games are bad is just a lie. They own some good studios like Tiburon, Maxis, and Bioware. Their importance to the gaming industry can not be understated. Stop demonizing everyone who works at EA and all their games just because some executive made a couple of decisions you disagree with.

EA has made a lot of games I've really enjoyed in the past, but in the past years the decent games they've made have been countered by a stream of bad and mediocre games, lousy ports, DRM, disc-locked content, and extreme franchise milking among other things. And for the record, I don't hate on EA senselessly because it's "cool" to do so, I've actually defended them at times (Origin in particular).

Gonna go in a corner and ponder why I just took the bait.

Went in for month just to try it. I downloaded Madden and man I can't stand the presentation of 25 despite really liking Fifas, The actual game is just okay but i'll probably just skip the reason and play concurrently with the real life season.

I'm downloading Battlefield and Peggle right now as well. I've been meaning to buy Battlefield as its the game of choice for my friends but I had just been waiting for Halo and Destiny.

Also I have Dragon Age on pre-order so being able to play it a week in advance with 10% off is pretty awesome. Hopefully pre-loading is ready by November.

For $30 its a pretty good deal especially if you know your going to buy EA products. For $30 you get the already announced games and can get to play

Madden NFL 15
NHL 15
FIFA 15
Dragon Age Inquisition
Star Wars Battlefront

I don't see why EA gets all the hate. I don't think it's evil, or even it close to it. I agree it's wrong to release a game practically broken at launch, but no one ever calls Bethesda evil for the PS3 Skyrim release, they just called them out on it in a more reasonable way. I think it's fine to so that if they do something anti-consumer, but for a good portion of what they are release good games that don't have a bunch of annoying crud attached to them. I know I'm really looking forward to some of the games they are making. And on the topic, it doesn't seem like avadon deal if you play a lot of EA games and buy digital. I can see why Sony refused them though.

I guess it all depends on what games are actually going to be included in The Vault. The last paragraph mentions early access to the '15 lineup of sports games with progress carrying over if you decide to buy it. In other words, the '15 lineup of games is not included in The Vault. It looks like it's intended to be the year-old iterations of yearly franchises. You pay $30/yr for FIFA 14 and Battlefield 4 when FIFA 15 and Battlefield: Hardline are out.

Honestly, EA could charge a $100/yr subscription fee to unlimited FIFA, Madden, NHL, and NBA Live access, with the 5-day early access thing to each new iteration. People would buy it.

This seems like a good idea for people who are big fans of their sports games more than anything else, and kind of like something that fans of those games have often wanted — a subscription service concept where annual sports games are updated each year (with the new updated rosters, game mechanics, etc.) rather than having to buy a new version of the game each year. For me personally, i'm not interested, but just because i'm not interested in playing those games.

However, as a general rule, i am concerned over the kind of precedent this may set. If EA's service is successful (i.e., profitable), other major game companies are almost certain to try to duplicate it. Which will lead to a change in the industry with respect to more and more fees and fee-based services becoming standard. Just as a general rule, i don't like that idea becoming prevalent.

But i certainly can't begrudge EA (or any company that would attempt this route) for trying something a little different to increase their businesses' profit margins. Consumers don't have to cotton to the idea, and if they don't, the enterprise will be unsuccessful, and it will go away. But if consumers go for it in a big way, then it's nothing more than an extension of the basic "supply and demand" principle at work.

Be interesting if they also took up the offer to add Origin to the Steambox (Valve says they can do it without having to pay royalties).

I always thought Microsoft would eventually get EA to prefer them. Start with this then start delaying the Sony versions of stuff by 3 months. Something like that could change things in an interesting way.

Did you ever read that blog by the wife of somebody working for EA ? (If that is actually truthful then I think that is pretty evil).

I don't reallt hate EA. I just don't like some of what they do. I personally like it more when they make games that aren't centered around realism; at least what I would consider realism.

I wasn't effected by Sim City online requirements, microtransactions, or on-disc DLC, but it makes you wary of everything they do that you might be interested in. I do think this subscription service is a step in a good direction.

It just so happens that I haven't really cared much about what they have published. I liked Dead Space, Mirror's Edge, and most recently, Mass Effect 3: Special Edition. I would play The Sims 4 on Wii U if it was close to the PC version, but they haven't even said anything. I don't like to PC game, so the games EA makes for PC are never even games I consider buying.

LOL, EA can do whatever they want, I didn't feel like playing X Sports Game Remake 20XX or Battlefield: Generic Military Training anyway.

Why the assumption that everybody who dislikes EA does so because it's the "cool" thing to do?

Just an idea. It became so vastly popular to do in the gaming community surely people jump on the bandwagon just like they do with anything else. It's always the same worn out reasons like @Zizzy made. It doesn't acknowledge that they put out a lot of games across a lot of genres.

Well, it could also be that it might have not effected someone, but then it did, and alot of people were already criticising them, so it just made it easier. I started disliking EA once Dead Space 2 came out, then they released ports on Wii U that were either old or not ideal and told us that we needed to buy them, otherwise they won't support Wii U, and that's horse crap.

Factor in that people hated the forced online in Sim City, and Battlefield 4 was a broken game, basically on purpose, and you have a ton of people bringing up what they were disappointed about, and then throwing in other instances for good measure.

Like I said, only a few of their decisions left me disappointed and/or calling BS, but when you put everything together, it's pretty clear it's not just one area that EA is messing up in. This subscription service is a step in the right direction, IMO, so it's not like anyone should be hating on them for that, at least. The problem is that some 3rd parties do stupid stuff, and the idea that consumers just need to deal with it is just as stupid.

If you're ok with buying a gimped Madden or broken BF game, then I guess keep buying the s***, but not all of us are going to.
