To make this explicitly clear, this is NOT necessarily the video game system you think is the BEST, or which one is your FAVORITE. It's the one that you just remember most fondly.
This may be odd for someone in his early 20's who's been playing video games since he was 4 years old, but I have the fondest memories of the Wii. It's the first video game system I was every legitimately hyped for. I waited in line that weekend in Virginia to get the system at launch. I remember by parents, siblings, and grandparents all having a blast.
And as far as the games go, I think I've played many of my on the Wii. That's not to say they were all Wii games, but I played them for the first time on Wii.
Mario Galaxy, Twilight Princess, Tales of Symphonia, Xenoblade Chronicles, and Pandora's Tower are all among my all time favorites, all started on Wii.
Oh and the hype up to Brawl was unbelievable.
(honorable mentions to the Gamecube and the 3DS though).
Nintendo DS for me. I remember saving for months to get one, and it stayed with me for a lot of my childhood, exposing me to a number of staple Nintendo franchises.

The Nintendo 64 because of Mario Kart 64 and Super Smash Bros. Four-player action with my cousins! That was only on a few or maybe even just one family holiday(s), but I'd say that faint video game memory is my fondest.
Pretty much all three of 5th gen, but N64 the most. Banjo, Goldeneye, Pokemon Stadium, Sarge's Heroes. sigh
Banjo is still my favourite game, it holds up so well.
Hmm great question. What system do I have the fondest memories of (but not nessesarily my favourite)? Gameboy for sure ☺️ PS2 would be second but I really loved my Gameboy!
N64. I think especially because it was at my Dad's place, so it's the one video game console I've ALWAYS played. Literally every year since 1998. Unless you count PC gaming (and it's rare that I played PC games that weren't free), there's nothing that comes even close to that. I basically spent the latter half of the GCN and the entirety of the Wii eras trying to finish or 100% games I hadn't before (or even games I only briefly rented and now bought for like 5 bucks).
Atari 2600...we always used to have 'get the highest score' game night
Nintendo NES...was my revolution of games
Sega Genesis...my brother and I always played the games together
Nintendo 64...hey, conker, conker, conker, conker's bad fur day!!!!!
Nintendo Gameboy (original)...yup, hooking up those cords to play against people
Nintendo Gamecube...my wife and I's choice for party-type games
Sony Playstation 3...our choice for party games right now...gotta love Sing Star
SNES or N64, need to weigh up childhood fun vs. multiplayer fun at University... um going to go with N64, being an only child meant that I got more out of the N64 because of the multiplayer games (plus Nintendo really exceeded my expectations with what could be done with 3d games, I originally didn't get an N64 as I didn't expect Mario 64 to be any good as it was 3d, seeing Banjo Kazooie in GAME convinced me to buy one - never regretted it). Saturn a close 3rd, due to similar reasons as the N64 (great multiplayer), but Nintendo did it better on the 3d front.
Gamecube and PS2. I had them at a point where I was discovering lots of great games via rental stores and magazines, and actually playing those games extensively. I also have a ton of love for the GBA, which I also had during that period.
NES. It's the only one I truly owned and cared for meticulously cleaning it and making sure the games worked, it was also handed down to me by my bros so that also made it memorable. Awesome games on it just made it all the more sweeter..ah, memories.

Most of my memories probably come from the Gamecube. It was the first system I bought myself and I poured who knows how many hours into so many titles there. I am having my wife play Wind Waker HD now because the Gamecube original is the game that defined my childhood's sense of wonder and adventure.
My most vivid memories come from the Wii because while I've never stopped gaming, my love of the hobby kinda dipped a little during my college days because I just had no time. When I did find time to play, it was almost exclusively Super Smash Bros. Brawl with my roommates—who are still the best friends I've ever had and more than family to me. Those Smash sessions (particularly the times we crammed 20+ people into a small dorm room for tournaments, or the days we blew off everything to spend hours playing back-to-back 99-lifers) are times I could never forget.
But perhaps the sweetest memories are from the SNES. I was younger then than I usually like to let on, but they are the earliest of any real memories I had. It was my first system, and the only one my dad would ever play with me on (he quickly declared games were too complicated for him once the N64/Playstation hit). The first memories of my life were playing through the Donkey Kong Country trilogy, Super Mario World, Super Metroid, Yoshi's Island and Super Mario All-Stars with my dad, handing the controller back and forth and marveling with external reluctance at how much better he was than me and how I hoped I could be like him one day. Though I'm obviously now the much better gamer (it's probably been 15 years since my dad's touched a video game), and although I now have a family all of my own, that desire to grow up to be like my dad is one that's still with me to this day. And after trouncing my own children in a game of Street Fighter II, I think I'll look down at them like he did to me and with a straight face, ask them, "Who's the greatest that there is? Who's the best Nintendo whiz?" And that's when I'll think back to those same words from my dad and know that maybe, just maybe, I've made it.

Gamecube, because that was what really got me into video games. That was also back when my sister and I were very close and we would spend hours playing Smash Bros, Mario Kart and Kirby Air Ride together.
Gameboy Advance SP, because that was the first system I bought with my own money.
PS3, because it reminds me so much of high school and all the fun times. I was replaying Uncharted 2 a while ago, and all I could think about was how I had played that game instead of writing my history essay. A lot of the games on there have special memories tied up with them. I play certain games I can remember what was going on during that time in my life. It's sentimental to me. I will never part with my PS3.
