Krambo42 commented on Review: Splatoon (Wii U):

@andyg1971 You shouldn't need a number to tell you this is a good review. Did you read it? Heck, the last line of the review alone should be enough:

"Splatoon is easily the freshest shooter in years and delivers superbly on all fronts; we have an inkling you'll love this."

After that, what difference does it make if it gets a 7, 8, 9 or 10? If you want a fun shooter, you can feel safe buying it.

Krambo42 commented on Humble Nindie Bundle Allows Wii U and 3DS eSho...:

@DarthNocturnal I just said the same thing to my friend about Shovel Knight 3DS, haha. This is a bunch of games I've had mild interest in playing but no real interest in buying, suddenly available pretty darn cheap, but the one similar game that would seal the deal still isn't there...

Krambo42 commented on Feature: A Fit-To-Burst History Of Kirby Games:

Kirby's Adventure is one of my favorite games of all time. Might even make my top 10.

Kirby's Epic Yarn is a really special game. It's so creative and so charming. I love playing it.

I've had a lot of fun with Super Star and Dream Land 1.

I used to love Dream Course but I haven't played it in years. I have it on the VC...I should check it out again.

I either haven't played or don't care for the rest. I really don't understand the love for Return to Dream Land. It seems so bland to me.

Krambo42 commented on Poll: Vote For Your Ten Must-Play Games On Nin...:

I'll admit, I haven't played a ton of 3DS games, but I have yet to be "wowed" by anything. Mario Kart 7 was one of the weakest in the series, SM3DL was kinda bland, Luigi's Mansion is a bit of a chore to play, I saw no reason to get/play Smash since the Wii U version exists, I played a bit of Kid Icarus and could tell it wasn't for me, Kirby looks like Return to Dreamland which I didn't like, I'm not into RPGs or strategy games... eh, I don't know. I like Dual Destinies and NSMB2 a lot, but it's not like they're anything special compared to other games in their series. I actually haven't played Link Between Worlds yet, but I'm guessing I will enjoy that one.

I don't know, nothing really appeals to me much on this thing. Of course, it's worth mentioning that I've never been much of a handheld gamer.

Having said all of that, I really like my 3DS. It's great playing it on trips and in bed. But really, outside of VC games, I haven't found anything I LOVE yet.

Krambo42 commented on Interview: Yacht Club Games Talk Drawing in 8-...:

@SwaveSays Yep, exactly. I could never get into the new games that looked and played worse than NES and SNES games. As I said in an earlier post, I'm still not crazy about most 3D games, but at least they look and play better than they used to. There was just nothing about N64 games that made me think "this is an improvement".

Krambo42 commented on Interview: Yacht Club Games Talk Drawing in 8-...:

@Haiassai Let me put it this way...the only games from that era that I like are Ocarina of Time and Shadows of the Emipre (though I do love both, and they are both in my top 10). I don't know...when the N64 came out, I just wasn't into it at all. Everybody was so impressed by the fact that everything was in 3D, but I just hated the look of the games (people now say the games haven't aged well...I say they never looked good)...and I hated the gameplay even more. I never liked how Mario went from perfect platforming to a boring collectathon. Banjo Kazooie is more of the same. I never thought that Mario Kart 64 or Star Fox 64 were as much fun as the SNES games. Kirby 64 and Donkey Kong 64 were both super boring. I've never liked FPSes so neither GoldenEye nor Perfect Dark did anything for me. I could go on. I did have some fun with a few multiplayer games (the WWF/WCW games, the All Star Baseball games, NFL Blitz, etc.), but more because they were multiplayer games than games that I actually loved. I just never thought that the games looked or felt as good as NES or SNES games. Ocarina of Time is SO good, though, that I can't deny its greatness...and the Star Wars fan in me just can't get enough of Shadows of the Empire. Most fun I've ever had with a Star Wars game (even more so than the Super Star Wars games, which I love). Other than those, two, though...bah.

My favorite games are still 2D platformers. My favorite Wii games were NSMBWii, Kirby's Epic Yarn, Donkey Kong Country Returns and Wario Land: Shake It. My favorite Wii U games are Shovel Knight, Tropical Freeze and NSMBU (along with Mario Kart 8). I just think that 2D games are more fun. But man, N64 games were ugly, had horrible cameras, were boring and had bad controls to boot.

Ugh, I'm just not a fan. I'd absolutely hate to see Shovel Knight turned into an ugly collectathon or something like that. Give me Mega Man/Castlevania-style gameplay over that any day.

Krambo42 commented on Feature: 20 Wii Games We'd Love To Download Fr...:

@Genesaur I kinda doubt that the fact that the entire Metroid Prime trilogy (which is three games and costs at least $50 in disc form) will sell more on the eshop at $10 than Metroid: Other M (which is just one game, and you can easily find it for about $10-$15) would at $10 or possibly $20 would tell them much of anything. But it doesn't matter because I'm pretty sure they know that people preferred the Prime games anyway.

Also, Other M isn't garbage. Prime's way better, though.

Krambo42 commented on Feature: 20 Wii Games We'd Love To Download Fr...:

With the Wii U being backwards compatible, I really don't see what the point is with the majority of Wii games. Yeah, some games are rare/expensive, some people prefer to be all digital...but I don't know. For the most part, for most people, is this really THAT exciting? I mean, games like Kirby's Epic Yarn, Wario Land: Shake It, Other M and Resident Evil can get physical copies for less than the $20 these will be on the eshop!

Having said that, $10 for Metroid Prime Trilogy next week is a steal.

Krambo42 commented on Review: Super Mario Advance 2: Super Mario Wor...:

@SuperMalleo People often cite the FX chip as the reason why those games aren't coming to the VC, but has that ever officially been stated? I'm not saying you're wrong, but I've never seen anything to make me think there's no chance of them being released on the VC. Personally, I'm holding out hope for Star Fox.

Krambo42 commented on Hardware Classics: Nintendo 64:

I kinda hate the N64. OK. Ocarina of Time is incredible. Shadows of the Empire is a personal favorite of mine. But honestly, I could do without the rest. I never liked Mario 64 (and still don't like 3D Mario to this day). Mario Kart 64 and Star Fox 64 weren't nearly as much fun as the SNES games. Kirby 64 was boring. GoldenEye and Perfect I hate FPSes. I could go on. Sure, I had some fun with some multiplayer sports titles at the time...All Star Baseball, NFL Blitz, the WCW/WWF games...but man, those don't hold up at all. If they ever announce Shadows of the Empire hitting the VC or being remade, I will disconnect and sell my N64 immediately. It's the only reason I still have it.

Krambo42 commented on This Mario Kart 8 Badge Set Brings Some Extra ...:

@sinalefa Well, I've never had any issue spending my coins, but I suppose I can see how somebody would struggle if they buy more games than me. Still, I'd rather get a game I've never heard of that got mediocre reviews just to try it out than a pack of pins, shoelaces, posters, etc. I mean, maybe I'd like it! The fact that we like to play games is the reason we have coins to spend in the first place.

@ericwithcheese2 Yeah, to each his own is absolutely right. I'm glad that these will make some people very happy. But I just get confused by all of the people who do nothing but complain about NA's Club Nintendo. They're like, insulted because Nintendo tries to give them, video game fans, free video games. Sure, some people are collectors...but they're gamers as well.

Krambo42 commented on Review: Mario Kart Super Circuit (Wii U eShop ...:

I had never played this game before, but Super Mario Kart is, after all these years, STILL my favorite game in the series, so I went ahead and bought this (before reading this review) because I thought it looked like an actual sequel to SMK. I'm so glad I did! It's exactly what I've been wanting all these years! More Mario Kart that feels like the original! It is pretty hard to look at on my huge TV, though, ha. But that's ok!
