I would save the dog, explain what happened to my boss and if he doesn't like it I would give him the finger, walk out the door and make a mental note to buy out his business at some point.

Then I would go home and take care of my new dog!

Well, if its in my town, The canals on the street are pretty small, I could scoop the dog out of the water and get to work in no time.

But if that wasn't an option, I suppose I would need a better job.

Um, I'm not worried about either. In general I hardly ever worry about anything.

But yeah I'd rather do the wrong things right than do the right things wrong :3

If you're concerned about doing things right, i've found that most of the time you wind up doing the right thing anyway. they go hand in hand for me :3
