To be honest Pikmin 3 totally looks like it could have been done on the Wii. I surely wouldn't miss the Wii U game pad features.

This is what it looks like to me too.

Reggie should be grateful that 60 million Wii owners aren't complaining that new Nintendo games aren't being released on the Wii, and they have to buy a new console.

Reggie shouldn't have made those comments. It shows complete lack of respect to the customers. The people who afford him, and Nintendo, a sizeable income.

Unpleaseable Fanbase exists for a reason. A lot of fans are just whiny and lame and do nothing about it. And also pretend a sequel to an awesome game would make 1/10 as much money as a mediocre casual game. I've accepted this for years now.

Granted, Nintendo is only recently starting to "get it" again so who are they to talk?

You're saying it's wrong that Kid Icarus was developed as a 3DS game, which was because of it's power it was able to be made.

You're complaining that Pikmin should have been released on the Wii, while the creator envisioned something not capable on that system.

You want the experiences of these forgotten franchises without geting a new system? Then you aren't getting those experiences. Because the systems are capable of different things and therefore experiences.

How about falling under the beleif that Nintendo releases these 'retired franchises' (as you say) on a new system so that it can be amazing! Not to deliver it to those who want it the most but not enough to want it the best it can be.

If I'm still not getting what you mean, please try and tell me what about what I'm replying to is misunderstood.

To put it bluntly, I am suggesting that Nintendo deliberately released Kid Icarus and Pikmin on new consoles, in order to drive profits, because they knew that these were the games that long time Nintendo fans wanted the most.

People can defend Nintendo, if they like, saying that Nintendo have to make a profit. But personally, it's made me question how they treat their fans

Now I know your going say that Nintendo needed better tech in order to give us the games we ask for. But I would suggest that they could have released a Kid Icarus game, in some form, on any system. And the only reason Pikmin has been talked about so often, and why so much hype had been built up about a release, is because its the first Nintendo game we thought of when we saw the Wii remote....

And to tie back in, which is why I first made the comment, in a very flippant way, I think Reggie should be grateful that hardcore Nintendo fans aren't making more serious complaints. Not just grumbling over, a frankly, insulting Nintendo Land reveal.

This topic should have never created such discussion, as the answer to all your questions are hidden under the term "common sense". Something that isn't very common these days.

Seems to me people are making this personal. Its okay for people to criticize Nintendo but when Reggie calls out the ungrateful, they can't handle it. Least he was professional about it. Though, its not the smartest move to make at this time- loads of people are still butthurt.

I'm pleased with most of what Nintendo does. Nintendo did warn us about a bigger 3DS months ago. The Wii DID in fact revolutionise the way we played games. To say it was better is a matter of opinion. The Ambassador program is something I am completely grateful of. I always find Nintendo's games the greatest in quality. There are things today that I do disagree, for example, I begged Nintendo in multiple ways to localise The Last Story, a couple days ago, I hear that it is not Nintendo's fault it wasn't localised fast enough to our liking.

I totally agree.
How dare Nintendo make a profit so they can keep giving us these amazing games.
How dare they!

XD it's funny how some people here act like Nintendo is doing us a favor. First of all we're the customer, and it's because of our money that they even exist in the first place, it's our money that puts money in their pockets and if anything we're doing them a favor since we don't have to buy their products anyways, so yeah we have every right to complain and b***h all we want. If a business doesn't please their customers they lose them, they lose money and in the end they lose their business it's the basic rule of any business. No matter what people are never satisfied so all it means is that Nintendo's work is never done. If anyone took anything personal here it was Reggie, he knows this is how a business functions (and he's a professional business man) so he shouldn't have made a comment like that in the first place. It made him sound like an arrogant person who can't take crticism. When customers complain just put a smile on and give it your all to make them happy, you won't get praised but you'll get money in your pocket.

I never had a GBC either. I didn't get a GBA either. I want a White 3DS or 3DS XL period... but no dice. Though I agree it won't really matter and most of the time I don't even notice my 3DS is purple. Like the e-mail Nintendo sent me when I asked if White was coming. It's the inside that counts. The games.

Though I was around when my cousin got the original Gameboy. Good times, Donkey Kong, Donkey Land, Link's Awakening, Killer Instinct, Bart and the Beanstalk... good times. Then I got my own on Christmas and he eventually got Blue Version. I think I also got Ninja Turtles on the NES. We burned that cartridge from how much we played it.

Though I regret giving away my Gameboy for a water bottle (it was a close friend, the water bottle was just an excuse to give it to him). I gave away a lot of my systems when I was younger.. I was too nice. In a way I will be getting it back...

lol no way.

And here you had me thinking you were a reasonable consumer that could recognize the flaws and opportunities for improvement.

Thankfully there's plenty of people like you that continuously and gratefully accept whatever almighty Nintendo allows them to purchase. If everyone had my standards, they may actually have to do some work!

It goes from one extreme to the other. If everyone had your ridiculous standards, the Wii would probably have been as successful as the dreamcast, if not worse.

Which would have motivated them a lot more than the alternative.. lol

Instead we have an online infrastructure from the Jurassic period, a steady flow of remakes, and nonexistent third party support. Sony and Microsoft do just fine under my standards, not sure Nintendo fans are so set on settling for less and making excuses.

Ocarina of Time. Now Majora's Mask is likely getting remade. Oh and that Mario Collection, what better way to celebrate 25 years than by not moving the series forward.

And did you guys already forget about the entire NPC collection, which included some games with worse controls than the original?

@Alex: OoT was last year, wasn't it? i remember i was in the middle of playing it when my original 3DS was stolen. as for remakes released this year, we've had Tales of the Abyss, MGS: Snake Eater 3D, and then Myst is coming soon iirc. There's other remakes in the works that are still To Be Determned for the 3DS, though, like SMT: Persona.

edit: in terms of the Wii, we're supposed to get Pikmin 2 this year in the US, aren't we? i know you're not all about the NPC stuff, but I've never played a Pikmin title before, so I'm looking forward to it :3
