I have played just about every game that he has reviewed and I can say most of them are as bad as he says. I agree with alot of his points that he has made on various games and I thought the same things he said when I played those games years ago.
RetiredPush Square Moderator and all around retro gamer.
I've played lots of them. Ones that quickly come to mind are:
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles
Milon's Secret Castle
Ghosts n Goblins
Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom
Castlevania II: Simon's Quest
Friday the 13th
Dr. Jeckyl and Mr. Hyde
I enjoyed all the above games except Milon's Secret Castle and Dr. Jeckyl and Mr. Hyde.
btw, James Rolfe actually enjoys Simon's Quest - it's his AVGN "persona" that doesn't. Although his review of that game is hilarious (as is the TMNT one), those games aren't nearly as bad, imo, as he portrays them to be.

As @ogo79 said, the SNS-RZ-USA is a prime giveaway that it's not a legit retail cart.
And yes, he is (usually) always right, and he is (almost) the sexiest gamer out there (not counting me) ;)
Oh god, I probably played more then I haven't played:
Super Pitfall - Ghosts and Goblins - Jaws - Karate Kid - Milon's Secret Castle
Ikari Warriors - Dr Jekyl and Mr Hyde - Castlevania II - Jaws - Friday the 13th
Deadly Towers - Hydlide - Rambo - Superman (NES and Atari 2600)
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles - Ninja Gaiden - Kasumi Ninja (Jaguar) - Top Gun
Ghostbusters - The Uncanny X-Men (nes)- -Battletoads - Metal Gear - Godzilla
Zelda II the adventures of Link - Gyromite - Dark Castle (MAC) - Predator
I had played all these games PRIOR to seeing the AVGN episodes, and this list is just the bad game episodes he reviewed, not counting specials or commentaries or let's plays.
How were they?
Most of his reviews are pretty spot on. Most of these games suck, but a few weren't as bad as he made them out to be.
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles was actually a pretty good game. Nice graphics, felt like it fit with the toys and cartoons, but very difficult.
Deadly Towers is a very early NES game, and it suffers from being too ambitious and not being able to pull off what it seems to want to do.
Ninja Gaiden is pretty good, but very unfair in several spots.
Rambo was kind of a good game, but it did have some bugs and weirdness. If it weren't using the Rambo license and was it's own game with some changes made for copyright reasons, it might be considered a classic NES adventure game.
Ghosts and Goblins I always loved regardless of how much it frustrates you with it's insane difficulty
I've played Zelda 2, Ninja Gaiden and Battletoads. I can't help but feel as if he played up the difficulty a lot. That being said, the only one I managed to beat out of those three was Ninja Gaiden, and that required tons of restore points
always thought I'd change to Gyarados after I turned 20 but hey, this is more fitting I guess. (also somebody registered under the original Magikarp name and I can't get back to it anymore orz)
I've played almost all the games he's reviewed, or at least tried them out for a few minutes or so after seeing his reviews. He's usually spot-on, though for many of the games, the Nerd-persona overstates the problems that a particular game has for comedic effect.

I honestly want to buy a 3DO just to play Plumbers Don't Wear Ties. Seriously. That thing is an epic masterpiece of Shakespearian-level storytelling.
Who Framed Roger Rabbit, Batman (NES), Zelda 2, some Tiger games, Big Rigs, Bubsy 3D, Ninja Gaiden, Metal Gear, Superman 64, Michael Jackson's Moonwalker.and Castlevania.
I kind of want to play Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde for some reason... just to say I have.
So far, I only played Zelda II out of the games that AVGN did reviewed. I like on how the game is challenging, but returning to the temple after every game over screen makes it a lot more painful than it should be. At least, I own the 3DS and Wii U version of it, so I can finally beat the game for once!
