HI! Ive got 20 bucks and want to try out a great RPG. I have FFIV(love it, a bit too hard for me), TWEWY(best game evah!!!), Pokemon(love it), Chrono Trigger(OK, not that into the story though), M&L2(good). PS: I love SRPGs.
Well, if you have FFIV, You probably know that they re-made FFIII inthe same way, and have played it already. However, if you haven't it's priced around $20 by this point if you can find a used copy.
Also, I'm not quite up to speed with what letters behind the phrase RPG mean. But if the S stands for Stratagy, Then I would definetly suggest Fire Emblem: Shadow Dragon. However, I'm not entirely sure if the price has dropped since it's release, but knowing Nintendo, I'd doubt it. Still, it's definetly worth it if you can find it used in a $20-25 range.
Both of the games I suggested definetly will last you a while (Fire Emblem especially, if you're a "Perfectionist" and can't let a person die.)
For only $20 you might have to take whatever you can find. Many of the good ones you don't already own either cost more, will be difficult to find, or both.
Still... Dragon Quest IV is easily my favorite of the ones you don't own, with amazing music and perfect character balance, but I still see it at $30 in most places. Fire Emblem: Shadow Dragon is a good strategy RPG, but it's $30 too and probably won't drop for a while since it's a first-party Nintendo game. (It's also my least favorite Fire Emblem so far, but all in all still very enjoyable with the usual solid dificulty level.)
Corbie brought up Magical Starsign and I do like that game well enough; I did sell off my copy because I felt I would never care enough to replay it (and it's a pretty linear game), but on my first time it was pretty fun. Normally I wouldn't back it up, but if you can find MS at all this long after its release, it'll probably only be $5 even new, which is a plus since you can barely go wrong for that price.
Dragon Quest IV 'Chapters of the chosen' Ace game, good story(broken up into five chapters using a different character for each one), beautiful 2D/3D graphics and will last you a while. And theres even an extra chapter once you complete it. I got it for £10 of Ebay not sure what it will be in the shops but probably pretty cheap.
Sonic Cronicles was a good game, not the best RPG, but worth whatever i payed for it
Sonic Chronicles is good, but not great. I'll give it another try,but it felt boring. You should pre-order Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days and Mario & Luigi:Bowser's Inside Story. I played Lunar:Dragon Song a few years ago,but I don't think you will care for it...

well right nao im working on FF IV (DS ver.) - i like it but some1 already said that game.. so i didn't mention it
Contact, The World Ends With You, and Magical Starsign are all top notch. Just depends on what feel you're looking for. Magical Starsign has a nice twist on the combat engine, which I really liked, but as mentioned, it's a bit linear and sometimes a bit too story-driven. Of the three listed, you can't go wrong. Pick one and enjoy!
