So it was confirmed today that a new 3D Mario game would be appearing on the 3DS! Thoughts? Impressions? We've only gotten a few screen shots, but I'm already excited for this game.
I love rpgs and platformers the most... racing games are good too!I have a black dsi and a blue 3DS. :D"Sometimes we put up walls, not to keep people out, but rather to see who will take the time to break them down."3DS friend code: 3695 0029 5257

Of course I'm pumped for Super Mario! Not only is it another title in a fantastic series, but it is coming from the geniuses behind the Super Mario Galaxy series, Donkey Kong Jungle Beat, and Flipnote Studio! Plus, it looks like it will have a blend of 3D Mario 64-esque gameplay and elements from the Mario sidescrollers (the Small Mario screenshot and the tail in the logo seem to hint about that). I cannot wait for E3!
I'm back (for the moment)!

That looks wonderful, I'm in love, I'm guessing a release late this year, or summer 2012.

This game is by the makers of Super Mario Galaxy and it looks a lot like the Super Mario Galaxy games! I'm really looking forward to this game. I hope it releases this summer although it will more than likely be in autumn.
The tail on the O in the logo looks like this game will be hearken back to Super Mario World 3!
Today was more wonderful than ever!

Looks like an awesome cross between Super Mario 64 and Super Mario Galaxy, I can't wait to get my hands on this!

This looks much more up my alley than previous 3D Marios. Even ignoring the tail (which is quite difficult), there's little Mario! To that I say: About fluxxing time.
Come on, friends,

Now this is how you use the Tanooki suit and Raccoon power! [youtube:5ntRaTfh6hE]
The Raccoon power is used near the beginning of the vid but the Tanooki suit is used from 4:03 onwards in some really epic ways.

I think Super Mario just replaced Mario Kart 3DS as my second most anticipated 3DS game! It's like Super Mario Galaxy meets Super Mario 64, and apparently it'll have a slice of Super Mario Bros. 3 too! Actually, it might be like they're trying to combine 2D and 3D Mario elements to make a mixed game with everything. You'll have the blocks and powerups from the 2D games, and you'll have wide-open worlds from the 3D games. The question is if they're going to have missions or simply getting from the start of the level to the end. E3 will have to reveal all!

Nothing necessarily "fantastic" about little Mario, but it's a hint at a style change to make the games more like the originals (along with the tail and the choice of name). It's a staple of the Super Mario games that he starts off small and grows bigger when he eats a mushroom. It's neat, and I don't see why it was ever removed. The health bar makes the games often easier than they should be since you have so much health and it's so easily replenished. I can't think of the last time I died in a 3D Mario game from losing health, always it's from falling.
Of course, it could be that he just has a mini-mushroom in that screenshot. I should have considered that. But I would guess not. Very excited to find out, one way or the other. I hope they don't keep us waiting too long for this one.

It looks like another Galaxy game, and I have evidence! In the last picture there is a star coin in the upper left hand corner. Of course, they could use that in any sort of setting, but it is a good hint.

The goomba certainly adds to the resemblance, though there should be another brick on each side of the bottom formation and one fewer brick in the middle, if that's what they're going for.

I'm not so sure, weren't we collecting star coins in NSMB Wii too ?
