Topic: Questions about Mario games.

Ok so I am sorta new to Mario games or at least recent ones. I am currently playing NSMB 2 and Mario 3D Land. A couple questions I have are...how do you proceed to opening up the different worlds? I seem to be progressing by collecting the gold star coins in each world. I am in world 2 and 3 on both games. Is the objective to get all three star coins in each level? In some levels it shows that I have collected all 3 star coins, in others 2 and some only 1. So I have been going trying to revisit earlier levels, and get all three coins in each. However I just don't see how to get the elusive star coins after you get the obvious or initial star coin in a level? Any tips are appreciated as I want to finish these games.

The goal is to save Princess Peach.

You progress by beating the end boss in every level.

Sometimes you can progress to secret worlds by finding hidden pathways in specific levels.

Finding all the StarCoins is not obligatory. They exist for collections sake and you get a reward for finding them all.

The only tip I can give you about finding all three StarCoins in each level is to explore every inch of the levels.

You've just got to keep on searching for the star coins. Some are hidden pretty well! As for the hidden levels/worlds, you've got to search for secret exits.

Ok that helps. At least I now know I am doing better than I thought. I am not having any problems with end level bosses. So I see why I am slowly getting further into the game. Nice to know getting all three star coins isn't imperative I have been spending way to much time at this. Although, all those extra attempts have rewarded me with extra Mario's, I have about 40 or so. Secret levels, within the levels eh? Can't wait!

You're gonna need 90 of the star coins if you want to play the Star World though, but yeah they aren't necessary to beat the game.

Wow 90! is the star world a hidden one? Did you get it? Is it fun

Its just for entering it, I've never gotten that far though, I just saw it and decided to take a look...only to be stopped by the toll sign, lol. Even if you spent your coins elsewhere, you should be able to still gather 90 to get into that world.

It only costs 90 coins to enter the Star World, and you get the opportunity to unlock the Star World upon completion of world 6. There are enough star coins in the game to buy every mushroom house/alternate path on the world maps and unlock the star world.
Also, it isn't really secret levels within the levels, just secret exits that will open a new path on the world map. As you probably noticed, there are some courses that you haven't unlocked yet even though you finished the world.

there are always help videos on youtube, but you should only use them if you are really stuck.

Well since this forum is titled "Questions about Mario games", I want to ask why the heck bowser wants peach so much? My only evidence was super paper mario... Why does he want her?

I thought Bowser admits to Bowser Jr. at the end of SMS that Peach isn't really his mother?
