Im not sure 3D would hurt my eyes. But I did get a nasty headache when I tryed it at the game shop. Soooo....I bought the DsiXL instead I don't need headaches period!
You do know you could have just left the 3D off, right? u_u There are a ton of other features on the 3DS, and believe it or not, the 3D is the least of them.
They have a warning on the system (which is the same as the warning for 3D movies BTW) about it being potentially harmful to developing eyes. In other words it might be harmful to kids under the age of 6 or so but there hasn't been much study into that. Infact there was one article I read where and eye specialist praised the introduction of the 3DS as a way to pick up eye defects.
The reason it hurts when you first try it out for a while is because you have to use your eyes in a way that's different to the way we always use them. After a few times playing it you get used to it though and it's same with 3D movies or 3D TVs. The kid saying it made his eyes bleed is either full of or has just learnt what it's like to have tired and bloodshot eyes.
When my eyes start to hurt from using the 3D, I notice it's because I have the sscreen only 2 inches away from my eyes. Then I back it up a bit... and it feels better.
really weird how many people think there eyes would die when playing 3ds. i never have problems. first 10minutes were kinda odd but after that no problems

They recommend if you don't see the 3D effect, to go and see a optician, as you either need glasses, or need to improve your eye strength.
This all reminds me, of when The Sun newspaper, were trying to make the 3DS out to be a blind mechanism for children...it still remember the picture they used to demostrate this satanic machine.

I think this is one of the things Nintendo has to work on, as if there's still a general misconception about the 3DS in general, it may be preventing some people from buying it.
Also, this is why you really shouldn't discuss video games with people who don't know what they're talking about. If this resurfaces, @SimmerE15, ask anyone who thought the 3D effect hurts their eyes 1. If they've actually experienced it for themselves, 2. If yes to the previous one, how long they used the effect, and 3. if they know the 3D effect can be turned off. That may bring put an awkward moment of win for you.
Don't like the 3D cause it's hurting your eyes? Then turn the damn slider down dummys. There's this little magic switch on the side that turns it off. Use it! That's my advice. I suppose alot of idiots out there think the 3DS is pointless without using the 3D? Not true at all. Games can still be just as enjoyable without it. Get informed before making yourselves look like a moron.

Exactly! Just because the name is 3DS doesn't mean every single thing has to be in 3D. That's why there's a 3D depth slider. 3D is not needed; Just a added bonus.

Yup, hence why I said that exact thing

"Don't stir the pot" is a nice way of saying "they're too dumb to reason with"
first off, there is an adaptation period that IS uncomfortable before it really works well, it took me about ten minutes, I'm still trying to convince my sister to even give it that long so I can prove to her it works. Also, a lot of people won't try it because they have issues with 3D at the movies, however, because the 3DS works differently, many people who have issue with movie 3D technology (such as several of my aunts and uncles, who love the 3DS when I show it to them) have NO problem with the 3DS 3D, Nintendo definitely needs more hands on events to prove to people that it is indeed worth their money we can do without the insults, thank you — TBD
When I'm tired and play my 3DS, I tend to get an "eyeheadache" with the 3D enabled. It feels like a bit of pressure that is pressing right on the backs of my eyeballs. That is really my "warning sign" as it tends to get worse the longer I play.
Before buying mine I was afraid that I could be one of the people that cannot see or get sick by 3D. I have only watched 2D movies, never got the oportunity/interest about 3D. But I decided to buy the console even without trying it, since there wasn't any test station where I live. Glad that I don't feel sick even playing for hours with full 3D. Also I have shown my 3DS to my neighbors, friends, parents, & some workmates, none of them complained about the 3D.
