It did in the beginning, but now it doesn't. Maybe for too long sessions it would, but mostly I play wit the 3D off. It's about gameplay for me, not graphical shit.
Changed name: Old name was JDT! Ponies will take over the world. Just deal with it. 3DS FC: 1375-7189-4496
I dont know about Pixelman but the 3D effect wasnt why I bought it. I bought it mainly for games like SM3DL and Mario Kart 7 and some of the VC games. Also I bought it for Netflix on the go as well so that way when I have some down time between my classes at school I can watch an episode of King of the Hill or something like that.

why all the snarkiness towards those who do have problems with the 3D? the vast majority of us know that the effect can be turned down, yet anyone who bought a 3DS yet is disappointed to find they have problems, ie eye pain, headaches etc are 'dummies' for not just turning it down?
this product is a 3Ds, emphasis from nintendo on the 3D without glasses effect. but because YOU (used generally, not at any one person) aren't bothered, can play for 1000 hours and never had a problem anyone who does have trouble is stupid?
i am trying to decide if, knowing i have problems with the unit with 3D enabled, will find the unit worth purchasing anyway. i've played it in the store and know that i will only be able to stand playing with the 3D set very low or off entirely. is it still worth getting?
@k8sMum: if the 3D isn't a factor for you, then it's gonna be down to the games — are there any games out for it that you want to play? will there be any games out for it that you want to play? if the answer is 'no' to those questions, then it may not be worth your time to pick one up. i don't really like playing mine with the 3D on for prolonged periods of time (gives me headaches), but it's no problem for me to play the games i want to play with it turned off, to be honest — they're still just as fun. :3

@k8sMum: Its like TBD said. For me the 3D factor wasnt the it factor for me. As I said in my post above I was looking for something portable with more options than my DS for when I am at school. With the 3DS I not only get the games but I can also watch Netflix and browse the web and with the VC games downloaded I dont have to carry a ton of gamecards on me either. I mean for me even if the 3DS didnt have the 3D effect I would have bought it anyway the only thing that kept me this long from buying one was the price and the color options.
In truth the 3DS has lived up to my expectations and I am glad that I got it.

It doesn't hurt my eyes but, it took me a while getting used to it and to actually "see" the 3Dness. :c I have bad eyes and I can't really see the 3D effect as well as others might.
I don't know why people complain about it so much. I suppose it affects some people more than others, but there IS a switch. But it works fine for me, so, I couldn't care less. :T
The 3D can hurt some peoples eyes and not everyone can see it, yes. However, omg you won't believe this... there's a switch on the right that can turn the 3D effect off! Unbelievable.
I've lost faith in mankind completely, the solution to it is right there staring you in between your flippin' eye balls! I swear some people just love to complain for the heck of complaining and then making themselves look like total morons in the process...
The 3DS has more than just a 3D effect, yes, it is its "main" feature, but there's way more to it than just that.

instead of replying as if you haven't read any of the posts and just like to call people names, why not explain why you think there is way more to the 3DS than 3D? we all know we can turn down the 3D effect. but since it was pushed by ninty as 3D without glasses, is it worth it if one has to play in 2D?
thank you TDB and Tasuki for answering my query. i am interested in OoT, paper mario, the new harvest moon so i may bite the bullet soon.

Some people, like the OP's case with his classmates who some considered getting a DSi instead, don't have a 3DS themselves to see the obvious. They may have seen it in a picture but may not know what 'the solution' does.
