Do you take advantage of the ability to submit ratings for 3DS card/download/VC/DSiWare games on the eShop? I know that every time I break the hour playtime requirement on any game I go right to the eShop to submit my opinion of the game. I enjoy chipping in my 2 cents and maybe helping games get better (or worse) sales depending on how I feel about it. Its a little weird, I kind of look forward to the opportunity to rate a title for some reason. So anyone else out there enjoy submitting their opinions via eShop ratings?
Not really. I have a couple times. If Nintendo would step their sh*t up and make it possible to rate the games all on 1 page instead of having to go through those tedious menu's just to rate a game I totally would. To me it is a waste of time. They should have a simple 5 star system to rate the game right on the games page. All that other stuff is not necessary. Most people check online for real reviews before downloading. But this is Nintendo afterall...
I do, the only issue I have with the system is that if a game is sooooo bad that you cant manage to get through an hour of it then you are unabler to share your opinion on it unless you just leave your 3DS on with the game running for a hour (which I have done before)

That's a good point. There's a couple games I've downloaded that fall into that category like Crystal Monsters. I think Nintendo should reward us with points for reviewing games, otherwise IDK how many people are going to spend the time doing that survey. I know I would rate every title if I got a couple points for it

That would be a really fantastic way to encourage participation. They could give you like 0.05 credit for every rating you complete. It isn't much but it would add up after a while. Nothing would bring people into the eShop like free money!
Yes, though currently I'm waiting for the nes vc games to be complete before passing judgement, it's nice to be able to give them ratings. Although I think some games got high ratings because people who did not like them did not finish the required hour but it is a good restriction to prevent people from rating them without playing them after downloading.

The only thing I don't like about the stats on the eShop page is that, unlike the Nintendo channel, there is nothing about how long people played the game for. If they had that stat then it'd be obvious which games are getting higher ratings purely because the few people who do play more than an hour have NFI what they're talking about.
I'd also like to see an average age stat on there..... but I suspect they ask that purely for marketing reasons.
edit: oh! They should have a "most played" list alongside the rating and sales lists.
If I happen to be over in that area and see it I might do it, but it's just not something I would actively do unless they moved it over to the actual game listing like PSN has so it's easy to do and don't have to hunt for it.

Yeah, and I try to be as honest as I can within the limited parameters and not just give everything a 5/5. Except for when I rated Digger Dan & Kaboom and it had 0 zero ratings and gave it a 5/5 in the hopes that, should anyone ever find it in the mountain of neglected DSiWare games, that person would be more convinced to get it. More people should play DD&K. It may not be the best game on DSiWare, but it's definitely worth playing.
I think there should still be a time limit before you can review but my issue is if a game is bad then an hour is too long. I think you should be able to review after 15 mins, you would know if you liked a demo if you played it for that long, but mabey limit it so you could only give it 5 stars if you have played for an hour... if its worth 5 stars then surely an hour is easy to do.

@Raptor78 Which is why they should throw in some data about how long people played it for. If a game has a handful of high ratings but the average time played was something like 20mins you'd know something was up.
I think the hour limit works pretty well myself because the biggest problem is that the scores will only be from people who actually got the game. Because of that Pac-Man & Galaga Dimensions, which got bad reviews from most sites, is the second best 3DS game above Pilotwings, Nintendogs, Streetfighter, Dead or Alive etc, etc. You can't really "solve" that issue but it does show that there are bigger problems with "trusting" these ratings. It's a good guide but it's less "reliable" than something like metacritic I think and nothing beats reading a full review.

Yeah I don't understand how many of the games get the rating they get. Most of the games on DSiWare are 2 starts at most, with very few going above that to me.
yeah, but whenever i see a game on the eshop, even a really crappy game, the ratings are 4-5 stars. If people don't rate them right, they're useless.
This x1000. This actually goes for just about everything with user reviews; You only see 5-star ratings from diehard fans and 1-star ratings from haters (check out the "most critical" iTunes user reviews of Arcade Fire's album The Suburbs to see what I mean).
