Are the HORI screen protectors adhisive? Could you take them off easy? are they easy to apply? I'm thinking of buying them.

I've got the Hori protectors. They're much easier to apply than the older Hori protectors. I read a couple of Amazon reviews that said they make the touch screen wig out, but I haven't noticed a problem. Highly recommended.

Part of me wants to get screen protectors for this thing (I would def go with Hori), I just know in the past I ALWAYS mess it up, trying to apply the things. Even if I clean it and clean it over again, it seems that dust and stuff gets trapped under as well. On the 3D screen t hat would be REALLY bad, I know that if there is like a speck of dust or anything on the screen it really looks weird. So I know I am def on the fence about this, as well.

no way i' gonna ever play without screen protectors again. Elite Beat Agents told me that.

and it's easy to perfectly fit them on.

  • let a hot shower run in your bathroon for a few minutes
  • wait for the dust to be heavy enough to fall to the ground
  • put on screen protectors (with a cool hand and with the instructions
  • don't get nervous if there is a bubble of something, screen protectors can be reassambled

Thanks for this. No matter how much effort I take in cleaning my screen off, there's always some little bits of dust that get between the protector and the screen. I'm going to get the protectors with the 3DS and do this before I unbox the device. Hopefully I can finally get a perfect application!

I am way too lazy to think of something clever.

as link79 said screen protectors kinda drive you like nuts, well i take really good care when using my 3ds and when i bought my 3ds, screen protectors came with it, and when i put them on the screens i immediately removed them

If there is a broil between 3DS and PS VITA, then GO 3DS!!!

Same problems with attaching those protectors as mentioned at me. Well. Doesnt matter. It seems to me, Nintendo used some other materials for the ts-surface on the 3DS. Im with this device nearby 4 weeks now, not one scratch, nothing. Factory quality lets say.
On my old DSI there were small scratches right after I finished a Layton-game. Perhaps Im just more careful now, but cant see any big difference in my handling of the current 3DS compared to the old DSI.

Grammar errors? We could use the german language instead of the english one of course - do you dare? ;)

Does folding 2 pieces of toliet paper and putting it between the two screens count?
It prevents the 2 screens on my 3DS from touching, so getting screen protectors would be pointless. I would suggest getting them for only devices that can't be shut similarly to the DS family, like a PSP or ipod touch.

Screen protectors do not protect against anything... dust can still enter underneath it and mock you. Also, applying them are a pain, either they get dust on them when your putting them on, or you get those blasted air bubbles. I can't be arsed mucking around with that crap.

Also, when you eventually need to replace them, they leave indefinite lines around your 3DS' screen EXACTLY where you placed the protector.

All you need is a cloth and your set...

****IMPORTANT*** Use the foamy white thing the 3DS comes with....cut it out, and lay it between the 2 screens everytime you close it. Don't use those screen protectors....air bubbles are annoying...and when i removed the silly thing...i DAMAGED the screen....you get it? Screen protectors are annoying and damaging....in my case

Only on the bottom screen if you let other people use it. Someone drilled their thumb nail into my touch screen while play Ocarina of Time and now there is a small sliver/crack in it.

I haven't used them, but maybe it is smarter to use them. (Bottom screen then, top not necessary) But the tips from @NeoRausch should become handy, thanks for this! I'm thinking to put them on later, but first: clean htem.

I had and still have a screen protector on my original DS. It looks absolutely atrocious with all the dust particles and air bubbles trapped underneath it. But, I'd like to think, if I ever took the screen protector off the screen would look like it originally did when I bought it. No scratches!

Whenever I try to apply Screen Protectors it completely messes up my screen. I always have at least one go with each DS I get, but never have I got it to work. I'm really particular about the way my 3DS looks though, and always want it perfect. Now, you may think that then surely I would install Screen Protectors to prevent damage to the screen, but because I am such a perfectionist when I look at my screen I just instantly remove them! It still angers me that nobody has created a decent screen protector!!! Anyway, I think I'll keep with my daily routine of cleaning my 3DS for about ten minutes everyday, for me that's easier than installing Screen Protectors.

LOL! How can someone do that? All you need to do is give it a slight tap... and OoT isn't even heavily touch screen dependent, your mainly fiddling with the buttons and/or the pad.

Are screen protectors necessary? Usually no, but the 3DS screens seem to get dirty very easily, although a simple microfiber cloth can take care of that.

I always use screen protectors! it's not so difficult to place them without bubbles and they will save your touchscreen for real.

Praise the Sun, and Mario too.

It depends on how rough you are with the stylus. If you are one of those people who tend to press the touchscreen too hard then it is absolutely necessary.

Personally though, I don't use it on my 3DS. I have one applied on my phat DS and over the years the bottom screen got foggy to the point where I can no longer play it out in daylight. Still, I consider it necessary especially since this was the first model and I heard that the touch screen had a high wear and tear. For the 3DS, I opted out of screen protectors and instead got a good quality rubber tipped stylus which glides on the screen better.

Over a year since I got my 3DS and the touch screen looks absolutely fine to me.
The top screen is the one with the scratches due to the rim of the bottom screen. D:
