the nes version was often hit with slowdown, and the graphics appear nicer in the arcade version. Don't know if there was extra content in the nes edition though
This effort increasingly feels like the shoddy double dips that collector's/limited edition dvds come out with. When first announced, it sounded great, but the flaws reflect a sad effort. I'd still like to see a definitive Mario collection of all nes, snes, 64 and cube Marios on a Wii disc with enhanced graphics. With numerous bonus materials and in packaging that does justice to the series. And once that is out, I'd like to see similar treatment to Zelda. Mario All Stars does not deserve an anniversary re-release.
It was underwhelming. It lacked the sense of excitement when samus gets more powerful, it lacked the exploration elements. Enemies were forgettable and the story could have been great, but instead was a letdown. If Adam was going to order Samus not to use her gear, the game should have intertwined it with the distrust of team angle and had Samus questioning both her past relationship with Adam as well as his current motives. Let her think the father figure she respects is betraying her and pair flashbacks with moments that could be interpreted either dark or light.
sony, nin and ms are all flawed in the online selling sphere, but I would still say the wii is a distant 3rd. Agree with wanderlust. The lack of discounts or price drops, the lack of demos, the poor integration of the wiiware service into the wii experience, inability to purchase exact amounts, storage space limitations, Nintendo's inability to foster an online environment is going to catch up with it the next console cycle.
It's a step in the right direction, but really, dsiware and wiiware/vc needs to be transferable. And not in a jump-through-hoops, yes-with-restrictions sort of way. I applaud Nintendo's commitment to backwards compatibility, especially as their competitors have abandoned it, but it's a huge negative to digital distribution if that content is tied to a physical machine without possibility of transfer instead of a user account.
The vc in vc-backing refers to venture capital. It's a way to secure funding for small to medium startups in a wide range of fields. Trade some of the risk to a 3rd party and in return they take some of the profits.
Nintendo has to tie in some review scoring system to wiiware search options. It's gotten to the point where new, or even launch owners have a difficult time finding the good games without scouring outside resources for advice. If they want to allow garbage to be sold, fine. But without demos and the barest of descriptions/pics, the nintendo channel doesn't do a satisfactory job protecting the good from the bad.
really enjoyed red steel 2, I would have liked more rpg elements, a better map, and a better reward system for sidequests. As well as sidequests that actually affect the game. 2 was a huge improvement over the 1st, completely different game, really
it is very much broken, and Nintendo doesn't seem inclined to fix things. Which bodes poorly for the wii 2 system. I can live with many of the faults, but one of the darkest clouds is that the vc and wiiware content I have purchased will not be able to travel with me if/when I purchase the wii2.
Also, the connect24 is idiotic, constantly going 3 or 4 menus deep just to turn on/turn off. And if I leave it on all the time, it sucks a good amount of power, plus gets pretty hot.
I'd like to see a weekly sale, much like MS and Sony. Sega had the one sale, and that's been it. Give people more reason to check in every week and get some more sales for titles that have fallen off the map.
you'd think nintendo would want to get some marketing push behind it since it is one of the few motionplus titles out there. And it also feels a void in 1st party software. I do agree that late month releases tend to chart poorly on monthly sellers. Ubi could have released early the next month so it would look better.
I think the 1500 price point on wiiware is trouble in general- and not because the quality of games doesn't deserve $15- many of them do. It's just that never having any sales, and not having demos means the expensive titles lose out to the 500 point titles.
I really enjoyed this game, personally I would have liked it to remember my progress in a level, so if I wanted to go for 100%, I could replay levels at my leisure instead of starting from scratch each time. The music cd my copy came with is somewhere, should probably check it out one of these days. Would definitely like to see more of the world and have them expand the gameplay mechanics. Online co-op would be cool. Maybe a level/color editor and level sharing. one can dream
packing in 500 wiipoints with a new system would go a long way to get all wii owners at least aware of the service also, putting more games on amazon would help exposure
to clarify why the wii must use a disc (and the ps3): Microsoft signed up Netflix to an exclusive deal, the particulars of the deal allow the exclusivity to be circumvented so long as the ps3 and wii use a disc to access the service
If only the wii platform was able to offer full downloadable games, this wouldn't matter. The back and midlist titles have long suffered at retail. Still, it seems like there will-must-eventually be a player's choice series of titles, re-released at the $20 pricepoint. And metroid, wario, and strikers (maybe fire emblem?) would be a great way to start things off.
I think the parody aspect can be taken much, much further. The dialogue and commentary was rather intelligent. I'd like to see a MadWiiSportsWorld type mashup (with motionplus). Something that takes a lot of the great pickup gameplay of the resort package, but to an obscene level. Frisbee golf, bowling, archery, or even some of the wiifit activities, it would be a blast to play in an over the top, bloodfest manner that really goes wild with the source materials.

Re: Nintendo's CES Presence is All Behind Closed Doors
could have to do with the controller-less tech rumored to replace the Wii. Would be more about not tipping the hand to MS/sony.

Re: Exclusive: Nintendo Bringing Back WiiWare Demos
I'd like all games to have a demo, and that demo not then be listed on the most popular chart

bizarre, maybe they need to enlist help from the illegal mod/emulation community

it is going for $4-8 on ebay, there's no monetary equivalent
Re: It's Tough at the Top for Nintendo
get suda51 to lead up a division and make a new 1st party ip
also, this article is rather vague on specifics, difficult to say what it's all about

Re: Super Meat Boy Coming to Xbox Live Arcade
as long as it plays as fun as it looks, doesn't matter when it comes out or on what platforms.
Re: Mario & Sonic & SEGA All-Stars Racing Almost Considered a Possibility
i played the ps3 demo, not interested. but if mario was in the title, it would easily sell 500k-1 million on the wii
Re: Nintendo Download: 22nd February 2010 (North America)
I'm curious how the motionplus handles for slayers.

Re: THQ Announces de Blob Sequel for 2011
surprisingly awesome news. Really enjoyed the game, tons of potential for a sequel, and to improve some of the gameplay mechanics.
Re: WiiWare Demo Program Demo Ending This Month
why pull them?
just set up a dedicated demo icon or channel, and expand the demo offering
ms and sony are much better at getting demos out there
