Re: Anniversary: The Legend Of Zelda: Majora's Mask Is Now 21 Years Old In Japan

MM taught me not to judge a game so quickly and harshly. My younger self used to brutally bash MM for not being more like OoT. Truthfully, however, I never allowed myself to give it a fair chance/never made it very far.

I did not complete this game until it was released on the Wii VC. I devoted the time and fell in love. MM is literally packed with content, urgency, and charm.

Re: Switch Online Members Can Save 30% On Wireless NES Controllers (North America)

@Scrubicius Yes, I use the SNES controller for the Contra Anniversary Collection, Sonic Mania and Tetris 99. Although, the only downside is that it has no Home button.

I was really on the fence about purchasing the NSO SNES controller. I'm so glad that I bought it. 8bitDo was always an option, but I prefer first party accessories. I wanted the most authentic retro controller, for retro games. I was not disappointed. It feels just like the original, minus the cord. Also, it's a huge bonus that I can also use it on my laptop via Bluetooth.

Re: Random: Concept Artist Antonio Demico Imagines Lil Nas X As A God In Hades

@Multiboy2k Well... I wouldn't be surprised if he's already fully recognized that impact.

I've only recently learned about the shoes and the controversial music video, however, think about all of the free press that it's going to generate. Think about all of the attention that it's generated on here, in such a short period of time.

I don't really follow his music. Although, if he has an album coming out soon then it's bound to sell very well, following the controversy.

@Sourcecode @kingbk I prefer to separate Gaming and Politics too... I also think that most articles here do a very good job. Although, the Comment Section is a completely different animal lol.

Just because someone chooses to make a political or divisive comment does not necessarily mean that the article is political or divisive.

Some people on this site get so "triggered" over just about anything from Brie Larson to March 31st. If every article was conditional upon the users' responses then there wouldn't be too much to read.

In short, some of the commenters bring divisive politics with them to any topic.

I actually preferred TWW art style over the original tech demo that was shown by Nintendo... Especially that black smoke after killing an enemy. Back then, it felt like I was playing in a Disney Cartoon.

TWW HD is absolutely gorgeous. The graphics/art style was already timeless, but so much more crisp in HD. Also, the QoL changes were much appreciated.

Re: Talking Point: Is Zelda An RPG, Or Not?

uncleMike

@everynowandben Ok... I can tell that you might have missed my original and stronger argument for Zelda 2. No worries, my friend:

1. You MUST grind to have any chance of beating the game.
2. Battles cannot take place on the overworld map.
3. Random encounters.

Sound good?

Re: Talking Point: Is Zelda An RPG, Or Not?

uncleMike

@everynowandben I did see that... I'm actually arguing about Zelda 2 is an RPG.

Did you see my argument above?

Ninja said that it wasn't because you are not playing a role... I have no idea how he was defining a "role". I guess, by a Class System?

Re: Talking Point: Is Zelda An RPG, Or Not?

uncleMike

@BloodNinja I don't know about you Ninja, but I had to GRIND like CRAZY to beat Zelda 2. Thus, it's an RPG in my book 💯

Oh... Also, you cannot fight on the overworld map, my friend. If I'm not mistaken, I also remember Random Encounters.

How is it not an RPG?

Re: Bethesda's Future Games Will Be "Where Game Pass Exists"

uncleMike

@SpaceboyScreams I have my moments, I guess...

Not trying to spoil anyone's fun, I just didn't like the article and bothered to comment.

The title is factual, but it's so misleading once you read the actual context. Obviously, future Bethesda games will only be available via X-Box/Game Pass. Although, this doesn't negatively impact any other platforms right now. All previous contracts are secure.

This won't impact Nintendo any time soon, and may have never had any significant impact at all.

Re: Nintendo Plugs Skyward Sword HD With "Elements" Later Adopted In Zelda: Breath Of The Wild

uncleMike

I think that either I've misread you or vice versa, because we cannot be talking about the same game... Skyward Sword does not allow you to complete dungeons in any order. The game follows a very linear script that you are unable to deviate from. Even a majority of the backtracking is linear.

Oh, the game breaking glitch never happened to me either, but it is common knowledge:
https://www.ign.com/articles/2011/12/06/game-breaking-glitch-in-zelda-skyward-sword
Thankfully, it's been fixed.

Also, ALBW still granted you unique items in the dungeons. The item rental system just allowed you to access your dungeon of choice. It was very well done, if you ask me.

Lastly, I agree with what you said about the "same old Ganon". Imo, Nintendo missed a huge opportunity by not making Princess Hilda the main villain of ALBW. I thought that she would have been a great reoccurring antagonist, alongside Vaati and Ganon.

Re: Nintendo Plugs Skyward Sword HD With "Elements" Later Adopted In Zelda: Breath Of The Wild

@RadioHedgeFund "Zelda 1 is basically the map on super mario bros with a few enemies on it..."

Sorry, but I have to jump in here. That statement alone tells me that you have no idea what you're even talking about. Those games are nothing alike.

As for A Link Between Worlds, exactly how does choosing the order of the dungeons make things boring? You can literally play the game differently each time. In Skyward Sword the game would crash if things weren't done in an exact order. Do you somehow consider that to be less boring? That make no sense either.

Being able to tackle dungeons in any order was a direct response to the criticism of Skyward Sword being too linear. You can argue that any Zelda game is "just one big dungeon", but at least with A Link Between Worlds it doesn't have to be played the exact same way each time. If anything, the pacing is so terrible that Skyward Sword feels closer to one big fetch quest (complete with forced hand holding, stealth missions, and backtracking).

Re: Nintendo Plugs Skyward Sword HD With "Elements" Later Adopted In Zelda: Breath Of The Wild

uncleMike

They should be talking more about the custom Joy-Con and new control scheme, but stay away from statements like this. Anyone who has played both games can immediately tell you how bogus this sounds.

SS the most linear game in the entire series. BotW is the least linear game the entire series. No upgraded gear, stamina gauge, or sailcloth makes these two games anything alike. Also, the Paraglider owes it's inspiration to the Deku Leaf, imo.

Re: Feature: A Link To The Past's Dark World Changed Zelda Forever

uncleMike

@BloodNinja LMAO @ ALttP is "just another sword game"... I can only imagine how they felt about the countless platformers that ruled the 90's.

I am curious though, what were the more popular games of your childhood circle? They remind me of the "elitist group" of RPG-Only kids in my grade school, when I was younger.
