Nintendo's Switch online service from time to time will offer a bunch of freebies for certain games. For Super Smash Bros. Ultimate it normally hands out a bunch of spirit board power-ups that can be used in the game's events.
The latest offer for Switch Online subscribers (which is a bit different this time around) is Spirit Set 1, which is available via the Switch eShop. This set includes a random Ace-class primary spirit and a random Legend-class support spirit. Once again, this is an entirely free downloaded - provided you've got an active Switch Online membership.
According to the official Nintendo website, Spirit Set 1 will require an 8MB download. In related news, later today Masahiro Sakurai will be showcasing the new DLC fighters Pyra and Mythra. Will you be taking advantage of this offer? Do you even sub to Nintendo's online service? Leave a comment below.

8MB? Just to unlock random content? I get that's not a lot but still, any MB seems kinda absurd for this sort of DLC.
Does anybody actually care about collecting all these spirits?
Dang, I forgot how epic that mural looked. I'm not a huge fan of spirits so I think I'll pass, but I'm hyped for the Sakurai presentation
@sketchturner Yes
@sketchturner I care. In fact, the only things that make me open the game are new spirits to collect and new characters to finish the game
Okay, but what if we actually got an Adventure Mode/Subspace Emissary/Smash Run type mode instead?🤔
I've collected literally almost every spirit except for some of the fighters pass 1 spirits.
Also weird flex but, I have all legend class spirits.
@sketchturner For most people (including me) probably not.
@sketchturner I couldn't care less, they were never as interesting to me as the old collectibles in previous games. There was something about seeing all the models laid out on a table that was quite cool, plus they had some information about the characters
Uh, thanks? I guess?
@sketchturner I care. Not as cool as the old trophies, but I’ve got em all so far.
I never managed all trophies in Melee or Brawl, they were too random and grind-y. At least Spirits are mostly tied to unique little battles.
I am assuming that these 'spirit sets' are part of the game, and should be covered by part of the $60 people paid for the game. If you must pay a subscription on top, the is the opposite of a freebie. Aren't these just bits of clip-art with stats boosts? Would people actually pay for these?
Just did for a year so be swagging this. Soulja boy tell em!
That's kinda cool. I'll need to pick them up later
@sketchturner I do and its where most of my times goes into with the game.
I'll pick them up, but I AM interested in the Sakurai presentation, considering it's gonna explain the following:
@sketchturner I collect them all, but I admit they feel no where near as rewarding as the trophies in previous Smash games.
Nice to have, hope the spirits i get are at least ones i don't have
@Noid I could understand it if there were new spirits in it but 8MB seems a lot for just an instruction to say give a couple of random spirits that are already in the game.
I mean, sure, I get the naysaying, but this is still a waaaaaaay better option than the usual Smash board power up items they've given out previously in just about every regard.
@sketchturner I don't. I just get the good ones for the story mode
