Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (October 12th)

@Oldiebutnoobie I'm only a handful of hours in but enjoying it so far, I can see why it's such a well-regarded game. Never actually played a classic Metroid but apparently it captures the feel really well and the Stranger Things-esque soundtrack is a big plus.

Welcome to the Switch owners' club - some solid game choices there!

Re: Review: 80 Days - A Wordy But Wonderful Jaunt Around The Globe

Umm, after reading this I'm a bit unclear as to what you actually do in this game? Like, what are you trying to achieve? Why is 80 days important? What happens when you reach each city - what do you find there and what are you meant to do? Uncharacteristically sketchy review guys, it sounds a bit like i might like this but basically I'm none the wiser.

EDIT: First!

Re: Review: Kamiko (Switch eShop)

skulltulips

Just completed this and returning to the review that convinced me to buy for like £2. It's decent - but imo think it's way off a 9 on its own merits as it's just way too insubstantial. I'd have paid more for 8 - 12 levels with one character over just 4 levels with 3 as the speedrunning aspect really doesn't interest me.

Think now time has passed, and with the amount of quality on the eShop, NL might hesitate to give this a 9 these days...still though, not a bad game, just temper your expectations slightly...

Re: DOOM 64 Rated By The Australian Classification Board

@NotTelevision God, HEXEN! I had completely forgotten about that game. That takes me back. Does it still hold up?

I never played Doom 64, in fact I've never played a Doom game and I have Doom 2016 in my cart slot ready to play for the first time today. Exciting!

I seem to remember Doom 64 getting so-so reviews at the time, which makes me wonder now if the franchise had got a bit unfashionable by 1997.

Now it seems everyone is happy to acknowledge how great they were - so I'm looking forward to playing through them all on Switch!

Re: Ubisoft Slashes The Price Of 16 Games In Switch eShop Sale

skulltulips

@frabbit agree that Rayman price looks like an absolute steal!

I have to be disciplined about these eshop sales so as I'd already dipped for Cave Story+ like an hour before these were all announced, I'll have to wait a bit and hope that offer comes round again..

Mind you I'm pretty happy with my deal on Cave Story+

Re: Random: Looks Like Capcom Forgot To Remove Mention Of The Wii In Ace Attorney Trilogy On Switch

@Mince lol just checking you'd rather NL paid its journalists to read through the Portuguese, Serbian and Basque versions of an ancient game than focus on reporting breaking Nintendo news?

"Why isn't your exclusive feature on Metroid Prime 4 up yet?"

"BECAUSE I AM A GOOD JOURNALIST AND I'M TOO BUSY LISTENING TO THE DANISH VOICEOVERS OF WARIO WARE SMOOTH MOVES TO CHECK FOR MISTAKES"

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (August 17th)

I'm working over my oldest switch games before i tuck back into the ridiculous backlog and try and figure out which to buy first from SMM2, Astral Chain, Link's Awakening, The Witcher and Wolfenstein...

...so it's Mario + Rabbids (still got a world to do and a bunch of challenges) and the Zelda BOTW DLC along with getting that 'true' ending!

Re: Feature: Best Nintendo Switch Party Games

skulltulips

@Doktor-Mandrake tbf I've not had much joy with the online play. Last time I tried the game could only match me with one other player, if any.

Plus I'm a casual player and most people I matched with were insanely good at the game to the point where it can't have been much fun for either of us. Maybe others' experience is different but I'd struggle to recommend it.

As a local multiplayer game though, Duck Game is supreme.
