@MSaturn While I definitely don’t feel the same way about ToTK, I had a similar experience with Red Dead Redemption 2. I liked the first and GTA but have never been so disappointed in a game. Everyone heaps praise on that game and I just can not understand how there is such a difference for me. Not saying my opinion is somehow right, just that I genuinely am confused by how much I disliked it and how much others loved it.
Alzo LoZ games often reinvent themselves so I bet there will be more games in the series you will love.
The negativity here is incredible to me, I cannot wait! I’ve wanted a live action Zelda for years!!! I do understand concerns about casting, personally I don’t like Chalamet at all. Zelda and Ganon are easier, but for Link I think they should go with an unknown. A Lord of The Rings level LoZ movie is so exciting to me!
Final Fantasy IX- I never played it and it was one that I was always curious about. I like it but It’s feeling a bit of slog at the moment, I’m about 9 hours in.
Metroid Prime Remaster-I never played the series much but after playing Dread I fell in love. I’ve had Prime since release but got distracted by other games so I’m getting back to it.
This is not about exclusives! I swear Microsoft is acting like this poor innocent do-gooder and trying to tap into console war bs! It is actually about monopolies and how they are not good for anyone but the CEOs. Microsoft is unquestionably attempting to do something with this aquisition that would have huge negative consequences and they are trying to distract everyone from what this is really about.
I respect the oppinion but definitely don’t agree. I love BoTW but ToTK, to me, shows that BoTW really needed more. All I wanted was more story, and I am so glad we got it, but we also got a lot more in addition and am loving it all!
Just finished Bravely Default 2 and had an absolute blast with it…obnoxious endings aside, it was great!
Just started XCOM 2, which I have never played and it definitely seems like it’s going to be a lot of fun.
Im going to be playing ToTK for the next year I imagine. I am playing it like I did BoTW, I just pick something I’m going to do and head in that direction but stop at anything interesting along the way. I finished one dungeon and am just doing other random things, I just started really digging in to the newspaper quests and love it. I wont finish the storyline until probably a year from now and I love playing that way.
He absolutely caught me off guard and I absolutely adore this guy. It is also fun to just slap stuff together to see if it holds up or not. A surprising and weirdly perfect addition to the series.
I just finished Bravley Default 2 two days ago, it was fantastic! The dragged out endings were a little obnoxious but still overall a great game. Finishing it lined up perfectly with ToTK’s release, got about an hour into it yesterday and it is brilliant so far, no surprise there.
I know a lot of people wanted something completely new, but… I don’t I guess? BoTW is one of a very few games I felt like I turned it on and got lost in it and loved it. So, I am totally okay with more of it with new things added in. Any reason to get lost in Hyrule again I am all for. HOWEVER, I do agree there better be some tricks up their sleeve. I have a feeling there is a lot going on story wise, and that’s why we don’t see anything about it. If they add on a great story to BoTW and add a few new mechanics? I am totally going to love it. Hopefully they added dungeons too, I really would be bummed if they don’t, buts it’s Nintendo so you never know!
I don’t understand why people love OoT so much. It is not a bad game in the least, but I think it sits somewhere around 5 or 6 to me on a list. I didn’t play it when it came out, but played it about 6 years ago for the first time. I would out BoTW, Links Awakening, the original, and maybe even Skyward Sword above it. Not knocking it, and totally respect people ranking it highly, it’s just interesting to me how I love the series and definitely don’t agree with the majority on this one.
Probably in the minority on this, but even though I dig the comic, I prefer my ninja turtles to be more of the classic variety. Im sure it will be cool, but I would love a TMNT with all 4 and something that is really substantive.
This is my first new Zelda game since I got back into Zelda. I played the original in the late 80’s early 90’s, and then didn’t play any until about 5 years ago. I have since played a ton and love it all. I am beyond excited!
Bravely Default 2- Octopath 2 had me interested but I didn’t really care for the first, so after it made me feel like I HAVE to play a new (to me) RPG I decided on BD2. I am absolutely loving it. It’s grindy but doesn’t make the process annoying so I enjoy it. The worlds are fantastic as well. I feel like the story is very standard but it still brings you into the world.
Metroid Prime Remastered- I was never much of a Metroid person so never played it. This game is phenomenal and cannot get enough!
I was completely caught off guard by how much I loved Sparks of Hope. I thought the first was good but not amazing, but they did more with Sparks that I really enjoyed. I also found it to be very funny. The humor is slapstick so if that’s not your thing you probably won’t enjoy it. It’s legitimately in the top 5 Switch games for me. Will definitely get the DLC and cross my fingers Ubi stops pretending like this series didn’t do well and get out of their own way. I would love another game!
Loving it so far! I never played Metroid games much, played the original a fair amount but that was it. Then picked up Dread on a whim when it came out and loved it. Never played the Prime trilogy but wow, so good!
LoZ ToTK is NOT delayed and it is fantastic but people are a bit divided because the map is reused which leaves some disappointed, but proper dungeons are added in and they are great.
I really don’t know about this one but I wanted to make a prediction and stand by it. Mario Odyssey 2 is announced for the Holidays. However, the Super Switch is also announced for Q2 2024 and games that are announced for its first couple months are Mario Kart 9 and Metroid Prime 4. These announcements are in hopes that the current switch will sell well for the holidays and people are also excited for Mk9 and MP 4 so they will want the new system too.
I think isolation may be overplayed at this point. Honestly I think the way that Metroid stays relevant is by expanding the scope a bit, but being very intentional. For example getting to interact with Samus’s ship, getting to fly it a bit but also maybe it’s kind of a base and you can interact with it, customize it out, etc. Also, having more characters is needed if you ask me, most people I know that like Metroid can’t name any characters other than Samus. The series needs some new characters. That’s not to say Samus should have a partner with her or something, but just other people in the universe.
It is incredibly obnoxious that such a fun game as Sparks of Hope is being dragged by Ubi. It has sold well and the reviews are really positive pretty much everywhere. They either had wildly unrealistic expectations for revenue from the game, or they are finally feeling the impact of their poor practices. Probably both actually. Sparks is not to blame for a gap between Assassins Creed games meaning less revenue and delaying games over and over resulting in less revenue. Not to mention consumers waiting a little before buying it. They’re just shifting blame because they’re finally feeling the heat from bad decisions and a great game is getting ***** on. I would love to see more games in this series but their bad business practices probably stopped that.
I think a lot of people who are criticizing Sony are missing the point. Sony sees what Microsoft is doing in the bigger picture and they are concerned, rightfully, that it will be impossible to compete. I get that it is hard to have sympathy for Sony, but Microsoft absolutely dwarfs Sony financially and Sony knows this. It’s not about “Make better games then!” It’s about the fact that a company is very obviously financially capable of monopolizing the market and is acting to do so. That is not good for the consumer, period. We should all be opposed to it no matter which company it would be doing it.
I didn’t love Bowsers Fury, so I am actually hoping it doesn’t go that direction. I love the feel of getting to a new world and being smacked in the face by the differences. Not really sure how they could do that in the Bowsers Fury style open world. Odyssey is one of my all time favorite games and I think there’s plenty to do with it in a sequel so that gets my vote.
As for when, we definitely need a new Mario ASAP. However, I have a hunch there’s going to be a new Mario around the movies release but will be more along the lines of their 2D releases and the next new main game will come with the Switch 2 (or whatever it is.)
I said the original at first, but I also kind of interpreted the question a specific way that maybe wasn’t intended. I understood it as “Someone wants to get into Zelda, where should they start?” As in, they know they like it and want to dive in. But if we are talking how to get someone who doesn’t know it, hooked, I would change my answer to either Links Awakening or Breath of The Wild. LA, because it merges the old with new aesthetic and BoTW because it is brilliant and a lot of people don’t want to play old games. Though I do know a lot of people that just didn’t like BoTW, so it’s a gamble.
I think I would go with the original…but a few things I would add. I remember playing the original when I was a kid, it was amazing. Then I didn’t play another LoZ game for probably 25 years, then I got Ocarina on 3DS and beat it. Honestly though, it didn’t live up to the hype at all for me. So, idk, but I wouldn’t say Ocarina, graphics of that age are just painful to me, but the older games still hold up.
