Theory, what if it's Retro that's doing the MP Trilogy hd remake(possibly what they've been working on), nintendo saw how great it was/how lackluster the namco one was and said, you know what Retro...just do the new one too!

Both the wife and I beat the WiiU Darksiders 2 without issues...There was one crash when we started playing it and no other issues. Darksiders 2 was an awesome game on the WiiU. LOVED IT! Hope both of them come for the switch! I've actually had more issues with Diablo 3 on switch(that I love playing)...than I ever did with Darksiders 2 on the WiiU.

@Kainbrightside Daemon X Machina, Bayo 3, MP4(sadness, it better come for switch)...yes that's where my heart is. Doom Eternal for switch too, awesome.....we need a direct.

@Kainbrightside Here's the damn Animal Crossing again. To each their own, more power to ya....but man, I just don't know. Folks, what the hell is nintendo doing for the money? 3 games a month on NES that you don't get to keep, they're blowing up their worthless online service no one cares about. Top tier games going down the toilet. Someone needs to be fired. Switch is ROCKIN' IT, and they're trying to sell it with Animal Crossing. Where are the games?

@Kainbrightside Yeah, there's no doubt the console itself is awesome, now if Nintendo would just get a good line-up of games for it it would be unstoppable(and quit making mistakes a la MP4 delay).

The thing that bothers me most about it, is that it will ultimately be developed for future hardware in mind since the delay will have to be so long, instead of the SWITCH for which it was promised and therefor will hurt sales of the game because a segment of the market will put off buying it to get it with the next hardware iteration. I worry that this will hurt momentum for the system a bit as well. Metroid was huge for me. My hype for the system was because of it to a huge degree.

There's no silver lining here IMO. This move HURTS the franchise and is a disservice for the game. They have put the franchise in a bit of jeopardy.

I think assurances that the game is coming for the SWITCH and with the SWITCH in mind is in order.

Still have my limited edition MP Trilogy in the metal case....would buy a switch remaster version in cartridge format(AWESOME) in a heartbeat. Release it nintendo, this is a good way to help smooth the waters after the announcement of the MP4 delay.

Not everyone buys a Nintendo for Mario. I buy ninty games primarily for Metroid and Zelda from the N......My main reason for buying this console is MP4, Bayo 3, Daemon X Machina(yes, I re purchased Breath of the Wild for the Switch even though I purchased the WiiU version).

Nintendo FINALLY had a nintendo platform that was arguably for everyone, and this hurts that to a degree.

I support this company...as a matter of fact, Nintendo is the ONLY console maker I do support. I buy the games new to support developers, spend money on all the stuff. Spent much time during the WiiU's life cycle supporting that system, standing in line early in the morning before opening gamestop to buy amiibos and merch. I am about as loyal as they come. I've repurchased many games I already own on switch that are in my WiiU game collection.

Pay attention here to nintendo's fan's reactions to the announcement of MP4, and think about how Ninty let them down:

Folks, this news today is a real blow. You have to look at it for what it is.....

Couple that with no VC and lackluster online and it's poor retro library support....

Nintendo has to make this right....and it has to be done for the switch. 2 consoles in a row, with the most recent a bait and "switch" for Metroid development. No, it has to be on the switch.

@impurekind Indeed, and one of the most influential. Everyone is making Metroid clones(albeit retro ones)...except nintendo it seems. Metroid games are widely regarded by many as some of the best of all time.

@Lemmy_the_Koopa I'm sorry, but no it is not. I was here on this site at the time, pulling for a struggling WiiU every day like many of us(I still have my WiiU and Wii). Always made sure to BUY the games new to support developers that would release for the system. When we actually learned what was coming(or not coming) in a Metroid game for the system, it really seemed to die off after that. It was the nail in the coffin of an already struggling system. That was the moment I officially stopped buying for that system. I don't see how the Switch gets a Metroid game at this point. It's going to take a few years. You really think the switch has got 3 more years?

@Garage Maybe they should have took it to Retro to begin with. I'm not even sure that's gonna work out. I'm not too trusting of their assurances TBH, it's not the same people at Retro anymore. Sounds to me, like it's just words to placate fans they know will be disappointed.

Another promise of Metroid got me to buy a nintendo console, only to be let down again. No way it's good news. The Switch is not getting Metroid....accept it folks.

Retro...ok that's good...but should have started that way. ANOTHER damn nintendo console I bought(this one with a DIRECT promise of a metroid game coming to it, THIS ONE)that will have no Metroid game. I'm done. The switch will be dead before this thing is released. Sorry, this is bad news...no way to spin it! Poor management has pretty much stifled the switch and the momentum it had in my view.

We bought a switch on the promise of new awesome games, and we got ports of the old system instead. I remember when I as a WiiU owner knew when the system really died...it was when it was known that no metroid was coming for the console.

I really don't care about this, I wanna see Metroid Prime 4, Bayonetta 3, and Daemon X Machina info.

WILL BUY if it's a physical copy! LOVE those games(love the retro arcade scene)....Excited for this release!

I loved Darksiders II for the WiiU.....a great game. I would very much like it to come to the switch!

KILLER INSTINCT, the SNES got a great port. That one is most important to me, still have my original cart....Would also like UN Squadron, and MK2....I know the Street fighters are coming...but since the arcade versions are already released on cart in the Anniversary collection it's less important to me. Being able to play those on a possible future SNES wireless controller like the NES currently has would be pretty dreamy!

@Devlind I like the way you think lol! I agree, the hype around a REAL new Metroid game like it's supposed to be, that will be releasing during the lifetime of a smash hit console(switch) and be a stunning game would be awesome. I'm so hyped for Metroid Prime 4....

I think it's awesome! Yes it's a price....but anything good comes with one...the options on this thing are pretty cool....

BTW, for even older consoles, legacy "displays" ARE an upgrade(crt)....nothing like the old consoles being played on the medium for which they were designed.

I'm glad they did this, I was against this because of the initial thought that it wasn't supported. Now I'm leaning on it's pretty cool....Ninty you just gotta buff up that NES library at a faster rate.

A way to see more of your games on the screen at the same time on the home menu instead of having to scroll through them all one at a time would be nice.....like several levels of zoom out.

New games are where it's at IMO(Hyped for Daemon X Machina, Bayonetta 3, Metroid Prime 4 the most)

Already completed the maps and all the quests/items/upgrades/stash upgrades....after you've done EVERYTHING, you'll be at around 70%....the last 30% is pretty much only finding korok seeds....have no real interest in that at that point. Stash fully upgraded, then the rest is tedious.

Respect! Started my gaming journey on the Atari and NES systems in the 80's...was very impressed with his knowledge of the 80's stuff. Aside from that, Bumblebee movie looks like it's going to be awesome(no more Bay)...the characters look like G1 transformers(soundwave with cassettes, shockwave, prime, all of the planes...they look "RIGHT"....IMO, this is the transformers movie fans of the classics wanted all along! Sorry guys, I'm a sucker for the classic stuff:)

Switch eventual cutoff from online service + not keeping games like VC = These controllers will be USELESS in 6/7 years and will go directly to a landfill. I'm NOT an extreme environmentalist, but making something(expensive, full of electronic parts) that you know will end up in a trashcan(no reason to keep it if it will be USELESS) in 6-7 years is unethical IMO....and not very Nintendo-like.

Ninty you should have a huge library of games before thinking this would be as desirable to folks as you would like it to be. The slow release of games isn't good enough to entice buyers IMO....also the fact that you don't actually get to KEEP the games like you could with the virtual console means the controllers in the end will be useless when the switch is discontinued from the online service...which makes these controllers DISPOSABLE! That's not cool at all, simply not good enough.

Ninty, this is unacceptable. You should NEVER have ended the virtual console.

The quality and cool factor is there...but in the end you're making a disposable product with planned obsolescence. This controller will have no use in 6 or 7 years....might as well call it garbage now, because that's what it will end up being when the switch eventually is cut off from online service. These are made for a landfill.

@DockEllisD Activision title. Still have and play my Atari 2600, 5200(with trak-ball), and a Tempest Arcade in my collection. Love this. I saw this at gamestop yesterday(physical release)...was only 30 bucks, will pick it up.

Congrats nintendo! About the skill level...."dude" would not survive in a Killer Instinct Street Fighter world. Just pathetic. LEARN and develop skills, that's where the fun is. Fall off the horse, don't get back on again and crying to the comment section is weakness. Cowboy up and learn the game....Developing skill IS where the fun is, it's OK to lose at first...you're learning something so either way you win! @BAN Agreed, they showed it at the press conference, why twist it up as some kind of issue(clicks probably)....I'm confused why Nintendolife is ninty bashing so much....slow time for traffic between major game releases perhaps? Nintendo is doing things RIGHT this generation, we should give them credit for that(to be fair NL has posted how much 3rd party and indies have been heaping praise on Ninty as of late)....but here in the last couple of days NL is in "nintendoomed" mode. Is this a nintendo fan site lmao? About Darksiders II....I loved the game, it was very well done IMO....I was hoping it would get a port to Switch actually. I had no problems with crashes either(had one crash). Who knows why it happened(the story)....but Nintendo is doing very well this time with 3rd party and indies....Switch is rocking it this time. I've beaten all the games I have at the moment, anxiously waiting for Metroid Prime 4, Daemon X Machina and Bayonetta 3 . Maybe in the minority but I have no love for smash(never did, much upbringing from Killer Instinct and Street Fighter skills) or mario anymore.
