Re: Nintendo's Bill Trinen Discusses Localising Tomodachi Life

plunkettmonster

I am excited about this release after watching the Nintendo Direct. I am going to pre-order this title just so I know I have it on release day, which is astounding considering I am not a big fan of SIM based games or wasn't until Animal Crossing New Leaf sucked away all my free time. I am ready for a change of pace with my SIM based gaming so bring it on Nintendo, too bad I have to wait until June.

Re: Nicalis Boss Tyrone Rodriguez Thinks The Wii U GamePad Is "A Waste Of Time And Resources"

plunkettmonster

I support the gamepad 100% it is wonderful! It may be under utilized but take away gaming is indispensable in a house hold with one TV or one place to game! I enjoy the various uses of the gamepad when they are employed, but they need not be for every game! I think developers should realize they can build a great game on the Wii U with or without the Gamepad, getting stuck on the idea of how to use the gamepad is just inane! But lets face the facts, big box developers are cheap, they want to make games as cheaply and easily as possible so they can turn a buck, the advanced style of game play the Wii U gamepad offers makes it hard to make games cheaply! The gamepad is brilliant and it is why I own two Wii U's,it is the best system out there on the market!

Re: Talking Point: NFC And The GamePad Can Succeed If Nintendo Gives Players Control

plunkettmonster

I feel that NFC's would be a great addition to the gaming versatility of the Wii U. It would be a money maker for sure for Nintendo, especially if they made Mario based NFC's. Can you imagine being able to pick up your favorite Mario brothers characters at a toy or game store, then taking them home and playing with them in two different ways, one way physical and the other digitally. I know an open world where you are free to chose your hero from the Mario Bros universe would not only appeal to children and gamers but also collectors and adults who remember playing these games back in the day. I remeber an article posted here some months ago about a notable game designer working on a new IP, maybe its a Mario based NFC game, one can only hope. The more I think this over the more I want to play a Mario based Skylander's esque game, so I hope Nintendo has something like this up their sleeves !

Re: Soapbox: A Monster Hunter Obsession, and Why the Franchise Could Take Off in the West

plunkettmonster

After announcing MH4U for the 3DS in the west it was a great move by Nintendo and Capcom to offer eShop versions of the game at $20/ title. I was interested in the game bit was concerned abiut being able to adapt to the style of game play for $40-$50 bucks so I didn't buy the game until thos past weekend when it was offered on the eShop for $20USD. I have logged in 5 hours of game play so far on my 2DS doing rudimentary quests but I am hungry for more. I can see myself playing this game for hours, I am not sure I will hit 100 hours like Tom but then again I didn't think I would hit 70 hours on ACNL in little over a month so anything is possible. But MH3U is great for new Monster Hunters and is the spring board the franchise needs to launch MH4U and MHFG in the west.

Re: Iwata Accepts Responsibility For Poor Financial Results, Ignores Calls To Resign

@Einherjar Enjoy the games, that is why I love Nintendo because the games are enjoyable. I grew up with Nintendo from the NES all the way up to tje Wii U, now I didn't own them all my two favorite systems are the Gamecube and Wii U. I have enjoyed Nintendo all along the way and I am passing that love to my sons in hopes that they view gaming as a fun pastime and not as a serious business. Unfortunately it is a business for Nintendo but they have proven time and time again to be able to overcome the odds and gain respect and cash in the process. A new article out on IGN this morning highlights why the Wii U can flop and Nintendo will still survive so no worries from me. I am lookingg forward to some great fun filled games to be released this year from Nintendo.

Re: Iwata Accepts Responsibility For Poor Financial Results, Ignores Calls To Resign

@Einherjar i have sons 5 and 7 and all they care about is playing Mario, Luigi, Pikmin and the other Nintendo classics on the Wii U and on the 3DS. They have friends with Wii U's and their parents get the difference between the wii and the Wii U, and it is cool. People in the states get it and love it, I think by this time next year we will be praising Nintendo and wondering what
's wrong with MS and Sony. nd

Re: Feature: Nintendo Games We'd Love to See in 2014

plunkettmonster

Wow the last question asking which game I wanted to most see released was a hard choice, most of the ones on the list I want to see come to life. After careful consideration I would have to say Metroid IV for the Wii U would have me running to the store the fast to pick up. Great list though Nintendo Life.

Re: Wii U Version Of How To Survive Will Be Reanimated Next Year

plunkettmonster

My biggest problem with this game is its delay, the more the delay the less I want to buy this title. Nintendo is in the process of releasing a number of first party titles that I would rather spend my money on than a game I keep hearing is barely worth playing anyway. If they cancelled it or brought it out I doubt many would care at this point.

Re: Parent Trap: Children Are Our Future, So Let Them Play

plunkettmonster

Growing up I had a narrow or shallow view of video games and who played them, gaming was for gamers. Gamers to me were loners who preferred their entertainment in an interactive fashion, not family units sharing together a wicked good game on the boob tube. Needless to say my opinion changed considering video games after I had children and of course the Wii made its debut, gaming is now part of what we do as a family. Games like Wii Sports Resort and Mario Brothers Wii and new titles on the Wii U like Wii Party U and Bumpie's Spin the Bottle are now weekly family events. We enjoy gathering in front of our idiot box and well, making idiots out of ourselves as a family. Quality family time is important to me because I know it helps build strong family ties that endure time. Now I am not saying video gaming is the tie that bonds families together but games like Wii Party U and the like help strengthen family relations because they are activities that we do together. I actually encourage my sons and wife to play games together, something that never crossed my mind back in my twenties, before kids, its a rather strange unpredicted turn of events. Not only does playing video games help improve and make enjoyable family time, something that I think has been missing in many households across America for years but it is a great way to help your children learn to play together, and how to lose or win in an appropriate manner. This comment may be a bit redundant to your article but what you say is true Andy, and I have witnessed it first hand many times over now.

Re: Poll: Would You Buy Grand Theft Auto V On Wii U?

plunkettmonster

I would not buy this if it were available on the Wii U, because I don't like the realistic feel of the game. Crime in games is fun if its fake loooking but when it mimics reality too much I find it disturbing and disgusting. Maybe because I am a father I have gone soft over the years I really could not say but realistic crime games that encourage bad behavior I would buy even if it were cheap. Give me Mario, Link, Kirby, Mega Man, Metroid, Pikmin and all the rest of the characters that have made Nintendo great over the years and I would gladly shell out some cash but Rockstar's mega seller on the Wii U I would not.
