It's a tablet. (Granted a beefy, peripheral enhanced, instantly HDMI compatible, gaming tablet; but still a tablet)
It should have media apps. (But maybe not every single media app you'd find on say the Google Play Store)
Let's not forget the "Switch on the toilet" advert. Before standing up, there's some work to be done, y'know? A Youtube video or TV show playing as I finish up, pull up my trousers and wash my hands surely would be better than some pause screen's music.
Wow, those are some amazing bundles. Are they not a bit pricey though? Granted, I'm in the States, so I don't have the best reference for pricing, but was the New 3DS Mario Edition not also 99 pounds? I was one of the lucky few to get a black one from Amazon in the pitiful amount of time they were up (and yes only one, I'm no scalper,) but they were $99 US. The only game I could even remotely justify an additional $50 for would be MH4U, but only to a fan who for some reason hasn't already played it. Over two hundred fifty hours is what I've got logged in that one, so that'd be fine value; the other games just don't seem as time/cost efficient. That said, I've not yet played Xenoblade Chronicles 3D (it's a Christmas gift though!) but see myself putting in big numbers of hours. But I'm also a huge sucker for faceplates and know how much price they command on the market — heck, the XC3D cover plates are nearly $40 any time I see them on Amazon. Not to mention the newfound rarity of XC3D itself (here in the States, at least). Regardless of my personal opinions and tastes, these are all really great bundles for any region, I hope NoA realizes just how much we'd like seeing bundles like them over here. Not every American is a behemoth with giant sausage-fingers that demand a New 3DS XL to be able to play. And also some folks like black.
This is outstanding news! Finally the regular sized New 3DS in BLACK! Whoo! I'm so glad I've held out for so, so incredibly long to upgrade. I knew my hopes and patience would pay off eventually. Now to see if I can actually get my hands on one of these bad boys before I have to pay scalpers an extra 50% online...
@helbertpina If you're looking for a good mindless beat-em-up, keep your eye out for River City: Tokyo Rumble. It's the latest localized Kunio-kun title, so think River City Ransom (Street Gangs) with a bit more going for it. Mission based, light RPG elements, purchasable super moves; sounds like a total blast, and filled to the brim with content. Comes out sometime next month, awaiting details myself.
@Ninten-san I think you mean the opposite. The localized names were the ones appearing in River City Ransom (aka Street Gangs). These are the Japanese names that are in all of the Kunio-kun games.
But I'm happy, I've always thought of him as Kunio anyway. And I just can't wait to get my hands on this. September is already a good looking month for the 3DS, so I hope the release date gets narrowed down soon.
Also, I read this is going to be $29.99 on release, though I can't remember where... Seems like a fair price, the only other retail beat-em-up on 3DS I remember was Code of Princess, and that started retail at 39.99 if I'm not mistaken. Of course I waited and got it for dirt, but this game here is a day one purchase for me; I've had my eye on River City Tokyo Rumble since the first utterance of localization.
I've been thinking about this all day and it never really sat right with me until this thought crossed my mind moments ago: With all of these titles' new prices, plus the two bundles coming out ONE WEEK after Federation Force, I can't help but feel NoA is just giving up all hope for sales of Federation Force and this is their fastest and easiest way to cut losses.
I mean, honestly, I'd rather grab two 3DS games I've not been able to buy affordably for their age despite my interest in them than Federation Force, a game I can't honestly say I know enough about to sink that money.
Though if it is a wreck, I hope it'll go more Codename STEAM's route; cheaply available brand-new from Amazon half a year after release. Anyway, I'm all for the Nintendo Selects range, I just hope it doesn't end up taking away from Federation Force's (likely) anticipated lackluster sales and thus jeopardize any future Metroid games.
I feel like this game is going to suffer from some grim sales numbers. Personally, this game looks just fine, no 10 out of 10 to be sure, but a solid game. Blast Ball, or the demo at least, is pretty entertaining as a Nintendo alternative to Rocket League, and the actual Federation Force segment was very competent, bordering on actual fun if you can believe it.
That said, I still think it'll suffer from rather tepid sales.
To counteract this, I say take physical copies that will inevitably linger for ages in shops and bundle those suckers with a black New3DS with some bundle-exclusive Metroid themed cover plates. Sales would almost assuredly be better than they otherwise would've been. The exclusivity of some Metroid cover plates alone could shift some impressive numbers from the big fans, and a black N3DS in the North American market would instantly grab my attention, along with several more just here on NL.
Oh yeah, I'm also really interested in Luigi's Mansion and the 3DS Lego City Undercover. For the new price I'll definitely be picking up at least one of these at the end of the month.
Must say the lack of Star Fox 64 3D is a true bummer. Not only that, but I'd have loved to see Link Between Worlds at that price point.
So disappointed there's still no black N3DS. I'd take it in a bundle with whatever at this point, but that white border on the top screen just kills it for me with these white bundle models, and the XLs are just too big for me.
None of the skins or decals or covers that change that fact either. But I'm kind of giving up hope on NOA releasing the black N3DS by now, and that 150 price tag for white is looking awfully nice.
My ambassador original 3DS is not what it once was, I've had to reattach the circle pad (simple really, it was just the thumbpad), replace the R button's ribbon cable, and the d-pad's coating is peeling, plus the battery life is now quite lacking after hundreds of charges. I absolutely love the 3DS, and would love to upgrade if NOA gave the consumers a bit more selection.
That is a terrible idea. Nintendo and the Pokemon Company don't want to leech sales away from Sun and Moon, they want to build sales, and having all the new 'mon in a free game is going to make too many folks decide they don't need to get a new game if they've already caught many of the new ones.
I say keep the nostalgia rolling. It's folks in their late 20s and early 30s that have the money to spend on Pokemon GO, and the Gen I and Gen II 'mon are the ones they remember the fondest. Not to mention how long these Pokemon have been floating around in popular culture, many more are going to be instantly recognizable compared to the alienation most everyone would feel from a brand new batch of monsters everywhere.
Just my thoughts, but I honestly can't foresee a company attempting to hype new games by freely releasing the entire roster found in them.
This had to have been one of my most played SNES games back in the day. My brother and I used to have epic battles to keep each other from hitting enemies, stealing each others powers, knocking each other out of bounds, and generally being real jerks. Although we had the generally accepted Nintendo greats like LttP, SMW, All-Stars, F-Zero, Earthbound and quite a few others, this gem kept us coming back for both solo and multi play for years and years. I really think this deserves an 8, not a measly seven.
@Dave24 So the money that smaller indie developers have is part of my being wrong? Also, not all countries have the same civil court systems for, as you put it, "damages". No need to be rude Dave, as I do indeed have a clue.
@Dave24 Not that easy, as the companies themselves would have to find the hackers, hope that they're in a country that would prosecute for such a thing, then spend BOATLOADS of money for lawyers and court fees. And we're talking about some small indie developers here, not a lot of cash as it is. So... that's why; because it isn't an easy way for monies.
Nintendo is a videogame and toy company that occasionally does stuff outside of that. Sony is an electronics and technology company that has a videogame department. Microsoft are a computing supergiant with their fingers in all sorts of business, one of them being their videogames.
That being said, it's not really fair to attempt business analysis on exclusively the videogame side of all of these companies. Unless of course that's your day job, in which case, cool, keep it at work.
Regardless of my opinion, I'd be great to have another physical 3DS release of a not-triple-A title. Glad I own Shovel Knight, and I'm waiting to pre-order River City: Tokyo Rumble.
The 3DS is really a collector's dream on so, so many fronts.
If I've got the money (doubtful) when this comes out I'll be sure to grab it. I liked the work inti Creates did for the Megaman franchise on the DS, but outside of ZX and ZX:A I don't have much expectation.
So no actual games for my Platinum coins? I only didn't get Warioware Touched! because I figured there'd be something different, something maybe I haven't played. Go figure!
@ejamer No worries, man! I changed my "opt in" option for the 3ds NNID a few moments ago, so if there is a layering effect for these codes, signing myself increases the chances of more people receiving the demo.
@Ralek85 All of your codes are taken, but I managed to grab the last unused one from you, the first one if you could believe it! Had to create an account just to let you know how much I appreciate it! The download is almost done, so I hope to hunt with you later!

Re: Deals: Black Friday - New 3DS Super Mario Black & White Edition
Jeez, all of 'em sold out in an hour?
Especially glad I opened up my bookmark to Amazon when I did, or I'd be really sore about this nonsense.
Re: Deals: Black Friday - New 3DS Super Mario Black & White Edition
Pre-orders are live on Amazon.com!
Can't wait for my coveted black model to come in, then I'll have to track down a copy of Xenoblade and I'll be quite happy.
