I like fishing, but honestly, I have no interest in this game, and the art style creeps me the heck out. I'll just go ahead and say NO to this little game, thank you very much.
Wow, this could very well be the best party racer on the Wii, considering the only other one worth mentioning is Mario Kart Wii, which I hate with a passion(curse you blue shells, curse yoooouuuuu!!!).
You're probably right, though I wouldn't say it "Lemming-like", more "Geometry Wars-like" really, only with a time limit. Okay, that was kind of a bad comparison, but I honestly can't think of anything like it at the moment.
Actually, you're probably right, I was only making the Geometry wars comparison because you have to fend off enemies, only it seems you send you're "invaders" to attack them istead off attacking directly, which makes it seem like an RTS, really.
Wow! I read about this in Wikipedia and stopped when I heard it was a puzzle game(I was assuming falling block puzzles), but this honestly sounds cool, can't wait(yes I can).
Funny, that wikipedia thing happened with Helix(when I heard it was a music game, usually hate those), too. It's a good thing I found this site, other wise I'd be missing out on some great games!
Thanks for the pictures, RetroWare! Thank G-D that this game is a puzzle/adventure game, because, judging from the pics, this game seems genuinely terrifying, and I usually hate being scared, yet I'm excited for this one. I can't wait for LIT to scare the pantaloons off me!
I personally was expecting this game to be an shooter(or aerial combat game) with a good story, and while I got the story right(if it's a tragedy), I am very disapointed by it's gameplay direction. For one thing, as I've stated in previos posts on this site, I'm very sqeemish and the exess amount of blood definately turns me off this game. Besides, if I wanted to play a survival-horror game, I'd rather play a Resident Evil game than this...except they stopped using zombies and instead are using angry villagers, which really isn't all that scary, and it is Vampire zombies, which is a little different. Than again, conserning the combat, I would much rather play No More Heroes, of course, that's a Disk game that really shouldn't be compared to a Wii Ware game, But than again, if I find a used one it probably won't be a huge step up price wise($15 is outrageous, considering the content).
Okay, I started out hating this game, yet now I'm conflicted. Oh well, until I see more of thi game, me answer is firmly NO.
Somehow, I don't think this is Nintendo's fault that it's that it's not here yet, and even if it is, I'm sure they have a good reason for it. I think the best thing to do right now is just trust that it will come out when it comes out and focus on something else. That's how I've gotten through the wait so far, and it's working very well. I haven't tested it on other people though, so if you do try it, tell me if it works or not so I can gauge it's effectiveness, I'll be waiting.
Yah, that's exactly what they mean. Seems like they are going for a cheap Boom Blox, only with less replay value, which is the major appeal of Boom Blox. I'm not too optimistic about this game, but I guess I'll have to wait and see how it actually plays before I make my opinion about it, though.
How about gaining real money without worrying about losing you're own? If they made that, then I can finally sprout my wings and fly back to fairy land a rich man, instead of broke...
I don't think they are going to get that many people going to their service with a wierd yellow thing dressed as a pimp being the first thing you see the moment you enter the site...
Oh well, I too have great respect for XBLA. In fact, it's the main reason I want an Xbox 360, to be honest with you, so I can play games like N+ , Aces Of The Galaxy, and Penny Arcade Adventures and a whole list of other games, too. Of course that list doesn't even compare to the list of Wii Ware games that I want, but the again, most of the games on my Wiiware list aren't out yet, and I don't have the space even if they were, so I guess it all balances out now doesn't it?
He's talking about Dr. Mario, but I'm sure you already know that. As for the avatars, I was wondering the same thing, never found a good time to ask, until now. Seriously, how do you add put those little picture thingys to your posts? I've tried "edit profile" and don't know what to do from there.
Never mind, that was easy, it just requires pictures that you've saved on your computer(I didn't have any, but thankfully VG Cats had a whole section dedicated to avatars).
"Edit Profile" is under "My Account" at the top, by the way.
Looks fun and seems like a good value considering the price. I've only played the original Breakout, as well as a Flash-based remake, and my phone won't play games anyways, so I think I'll get this one. Have to wait a little while though, I don't want any thing to distract me during exam week.
I wonder, maybe High voltage has been putting off development of Gyrostarr, since they are also working two other games(one Wiiware, one Disc, possibly others), and they already had that blackjack game that could have caused them to pause production to finish. I know High Voltage isn't all that small a company, but they certainly not a big-name developer either.
This game looks so cool, I never played arkanoid, except fo the demo for the DS remake, which I'll pass on since this looks better for less coin. Also I played Breakout! on the pc, so I kind of have an idea how this will play(not really, but it's the closest thing I got control-wise).
For me, an online battle mode is all I need. I never got into the single player all that much, but multiplayer has always been the best part of Bomberman, for me at least. I don't know if I'll be getting the disk game, but I'm definately getting this one.
This sounds interesting, and I like the idea of a Wiiware prequel/demo, though I'll have to wait for a Nintendo Channal video, as the one here got pretty bad, especially towards the end.
While all I have to do is look around my school or my local gym to see where they are getting at with this game, and having actually seen an eating competition, I can say that they are quite exciting. Unfortunately, after seeing the video, this actually seems like a poor excuse for a game based on eating, and actually maked me lose my appetite.
That's exactly what I was thinking, then I noticed that there is a gauge on top color-coded to each player, and when one player started to do really good, the color for that player started to fill more of the gauge than the other, and I think it is possible to destroy those moon things so you do have to be a little more careful about which block you shoot than they made it look.
Read a preview in Nintendo Power, it sounds awesome. I just wish they had picked a better name, it reminds me of the LITs(leaders in training) from my old summer camp, and G-D were they jerks(evidently an attitude adjustment wasn't part of their training)!
I was never into the look of the original, and will the updated look is more tolerable, it still makes me squeemish just looking at it. Thats just going off the stills, but maybe videos will change my mind. Until then, it's going to have to do a lot to get me to buy it. While I normally don't have high standards, Devil's Crush, which I've always held in higher regard, is going to be much cheaper, and I already have Metroid Prime Pinball, which has sci-fi-themed pinball covered for me, though I won't it to that high of standards, as this is not a full release like MPP(nor costing $35). I like Hudson, so I'm not going to dismiss this one right off the bat and the original Alien Crush was by no means a bad game, it's just that it's going to have to be really good in order to get me to ignore Devil's Crush, as well as it's rather disgusting looking theme.
Evidently some people have an uneasy relationship with their friends... Anyways, co-op should cover the only fault I found with the game, which was that it takes several hits to defeat an enemy, and the character isn't exactly Sonic The Hedgehog, if you know what I mean....he's slow.... Even just having someone shoot the enemy with the pointer would be helpful in taking out the enemy without having to worry about having enough health all the time.
Edit: I saw the gameplay video again, and defeating an enemy doesn't seem as bad as I thought(he's faster than I remember), still frustrating but certainly something that can be worked around.
I don't think I've played the N64 1080º, though I have played 2 snowboarding games before, one on the playstation that wasn't very good, and another one that was pretty good, though I don't remember exactly what game it was, maybe it was a 1080º, as I recall that name from somewhere. And if this one is a snowboarding game, then it's another reason for me to buy Wii Fit(I've been putting it off until I can buy it with my own money), along with that new Tetris game and the new Skate, if it's using the balance board(I never played original, but I saw someone playing it at a car show, and it looked awesome!).
Oh, and I believe he was saying that making a snowboard game for the balance board is not as easy as one would think, and they're having trouble in development. At least, that's what I think, of course, I'm going to have to wait for the interviews first before I make anymore assumptions
I am definately downloading this one. I was going to dismiss this one at first, becaused it seemed like another remake, of which Taito had already made, and it seemed better than any remake that would come out on Wiiware(Star Soldier R and Dr. Mario Online RX had evidently taught me nothing about wiiware remakes). But, now that I see that it's completely different, it has my interest. Of course, I'm probably going to have to see how it plays before I get too excited(already too late), as a new direction could wind up bringing down the entire experience, though, I do trust Taito to do a good job once again.
I had a feeling the guy was joking, or at least the comment wasn't nearly as bad as everyone made it out to be.
I really hope the solution lets you use your own flash sticks, because I've got 512 mb stick that's gone unused since I got it, and will otherwise continue to go unused, as my new computer doesn't have Word on it($200 for an essential piece of software, that's bloody outrageous!). Plus, it could hopefully act as an extension of the internal hard drive, since that is a flash drive, too, if I'm not mistaken. Sure mine isn't very big, but if I need a new one, at least they're cheap. While that may sound like going back to the old memory card system(at least, it does to me), well, was that system really all that bad? I mean with memory cards, if you wanted to play your game at a friend's house, and your friend didn't have a save for that game already, instead of starting a whole new game, all you had to do was bring your memory card. Assuming that Nintendo will let us run game saves Wii other than our own, we'll be able to experience those benefits once again, considering most game larger than a single block, and sometimes even ones that small, cannot be successfully transfered to an SD card.
Besides, I never really was into the idea of hard drives, since flash drives are smaller and generally cheaper anyways. In fact, what is the problem with flash drives anyway? I'm really not all that tech savy, but I really don't see why we don't have whole computers using these things.
One of my favorite games on the Genesis, and had I figured out there was an easy mode, I would've bought it too, instead of renting it like 3 or 4 times. Thank G-d I got the Gems Collection, I knew there would be more value to it than just Sonic CD(though, now I kind of wish I had that I hadn't passed up that Genesis Collection everyone is talkiny about). I found the game to be rather unique, at least compared to Contra(never got to play Gunstar Heroes and I'll admit I played Vectorman first), as someone mentioned, it's more like Megaman, rather than your usual run 'n' gun, only with Contra style controls(what I thought Megaman always needed).
Oh, and thanks to the video, I now have to go and play this game again, since it showed me a bunch of new things that I can do(I never knew the double jump could be used as an attack!).
I remember when I first saw the cart I thought it was Street fighters, for some reason. While I was disappointed at first when I found out it what it really was, that dissappointment quickly turned to joy, especially during co-op(I probably never would have liked Street Fighters anyways). Funny how, until I saw the videos, I would always look back on this game with disdain, me and my brother had so much fun playing co-op on this game and it even taught me to be wary of women dressed in leather police costumes and carrying around whips. I just can't seem to remember why I started hating this game so much, perhaps it had simply become too hard(we got pretty far, considering it was our first beat 'em up) and I was simply tired of losing, or maybe I was just tired of the game and my brother wasn't(I started hating a lot of good games because of that reason). Who knows...
Oh well, me and my brother don't play together very much anymore, so maybe I should download this one to bring back the memories and perhaps we could start playing again.
Oh, and Mixer, in my opinion this game had the best music I had ever heard on the Genesis, and I had many of the Sonic games. The music is part of why that video brought back so many memories
Well, judging from the Nintendo Channal videos, Block Breaker Deluxe looks really cool and I'll possibly get it, and that fishing one looks...different, I suppose. I'm not a fan of fighting games, so Samuari Showdown doesn't interest me, but at least it's good, and it's nice to see the Neo Geo getting supported with good games, I'm assumed it was going to be ignored like the Master System was.
This game looks fun, and it seems like it will finally make true my dream of fighting the devil's minions with tiny metal balls! And since it's 600 wii points, I can also get Soldier Blade and Lord of Thunder too(without any leftover points if I get 2000 points). The Turbografx-16 is definitely the best console I never had and I wish I had gotten it when I was young.
Also, about the physics, how are any of you able to tell the difference? Pinball has always been a game of chance for me, and I'm never able to tell where the ball is going to go once I've hit it.
Very nice review. While there were parts that felt like an faq or a guide rather than a review, and a general statement about the game somewhere towards the beginning would have been helpful so the less-informed reader would've had a better understanding of what the game is about before they read the rather long review, it was otherwise a very informative and well written review.
The only tetris I've played was an online Flash version for free. It was pretty fun, except it wouldn't save my high scores. I hope this version saves your scores, as well as have leaderboards(singleplayer and multiplayer) because then it would be a "must-buy" for me. Otherwise, I'll just continue to play it online for free.
My apologies, x.SuperMario.x, I had a feeling you would be angry when I posted that, I was trying to be as uninsulting as possible, while still soundind witty. Guess I failed, huh? I just thought that your bet was a little too rash, perhaps ignorant. It's just that, I could see Pokemon Ranch getting #10 easy, if not a little higher. If it were me, I would have required that it at least gets #5 on the list, as I don't see it quite getting that.
Though, when I look at this now, I realize I'm too little, too late, huh? Oh well...
@Corbie, so I wasn't the only one seeing those, I thought I was gonna hafta see a shrink(or at least I assumed they would turn out to be some kind of people)
@Yatesy, sure it's generic platforming stuff, but that hasn't been seen on the consoles in years, and at $5, and at a decent length and unique art, what more could you ask for?

Re: Block Breaker Deluxe
Javanoid! That's what this game reminds me of! That game was tons of fun and required you to use your mouse to control the paddle! Tons of fun!
Re: Target Toss Pro: Bags
MY G-D! That is the most worthless piece of crap I have ever seen! And I don't say that lightly.

Re: Midnight Pool
What did I just say! You could do better Gameloft, you really could...
Yah, I'll just stick with Wii Play, Billiards is honestly the only game in the collection my mom was able to beat me at.
Re: Midnight Bowling
I'll stick with Wii Sports, thank you. Come on, Gameloft, I know you got better games that you could port than this, so come on already!
Re: LostWinds 2
Am I the only one who took like, 6 hours to beat the first game?! I mean sure, I only played it like, once or twice a week, but still.
I just want some new locales, new powers, maybe some more boss, you know, the usual sequel stuff. A cheaper price might sweeten the deal, though.

Re: USA WiiWare Update: Block Breaker Deluxe and Cocoto Fishing Master
Well, judging from the Nintendo Channal videos, Block Breaker Deluxe looks really cool and I'll possibly get it, and that fishing one looks...different, I suppose. I'm not a fan of fighting games, so Samuari Showdown doesn't interest me, but at least it's good, and it's nice to see the Neo Geo getting supported with good games, I'm assumed it was going to be ignored like the Master System was.
Re: Nebulus
Looks pretty good to me, very creative for it's time. Too bad we don't get Commadore 64 in NA, it seems to have some interesting games.
Re: Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars
Does this game have equipable stuff in it, and if so do they actually do anything(stat-raising doesn't count)?
Re: Devil's Crush
This game looks fun, and it seems like it will finally make true my dream of fighting the devil's minions with tiny metal balls! And since it's 600 wii points, I can also get Soldier Blade and Lord of Thunder too(without any leftover points if I get 2000 points). The Turbografx-16 is definitely the best console I never had and I wish I had gotten it when I was young.
Also, about the physics, how are any of you able to tell the difference? Pinball has always been a game of chance for me, and I'm never able to tell where the ball is going to go once I've hit it.
Re: F-Zero X
F-Zero X was great, but F-Zero GX was the GREATEST RACING GAME EVER!!!!
Now that I lost that bet, does anyone kow where to get GX cheap?
Re: F-Zero X
@storm101
My memory is foggy because I was 8, I guess me and my brother only focused on the story so that's all I could remember.
Re: Review: Defend Your Castle
@objection_blaster
Very nice review. While there were parts that felt like an faq or a guide rather than a review, and a general statement about the game somewhere towards the beginning would have been helpful so the less-informed reader would've had a better understanding of what the game is about before they read the rather long review, it was otherwise a very informative and well written review.
Re: Tetris Party
The only tetris I've played was an online Flash version for free. It was pretty fun, except it wouldn't save my high scores. I hope this version saves your scores, as well as have leaderboards(singleplayer and multiplayer) because then it would be a "must-buy" for me. Otherwise, I'll just continue to play it online for free.
Re: USA WiiWare Update: My Pokémon Ranch
My apologies, x.SuperMario.x, I had a feeling you would be angry when I posted that, I was trying to be as uninsulting as possible, while still soundind witty. Guess I failed, huh? I just thought that your bet was a little too rash, perhaps ignorant. It's just that, I could see Pokemon Ranch getting #10 easy, if not a little higher. If it were me, I would have required that it at least gets #5 on the list, as I don't see it quite getting that.
Though, when I look at this now, I realize I'm too little, too late, huh? Oh well...
Re: Luc Bernard Talks Eternity's Child, Rose Princess and Uwe Boll
@Corbie, so I wasn't the only one seeing those, I thought I was gonna hafta see a shrink(or at least I assumed they would turn out to be some kind of people)
@Yatesy, sure it's generic platforming stuff, but that hasn't been seen on the consoles in years, and at $5, and at a decent length and unique art, what more could you ask for?
Re: D2C Games Interview: SPOGS Racing
No online play yet. That's apparently an expansion pack or something.
Re: Review: Defend Your Castle
Thanks, I will!
Re: Review: Star Soldier R
Nevermind I found it... and deleted it. It was just me complaining, anyways, there's too much of that already.
