Watch out for our review coming soon!
More from Nintendo's press release:
Nintendo adds new and classic games to the Wii Shop Channel at 9 a.m. Pacific time every Monday. This week’s new games are:
My Pokémon Ranch (Nintendo, 1 player, Rated E for Everyone - Comic Mischief, 1,000 Wii Points): The Pokémon phenomenon debuts on WiiWare with My Pokémon Ranch, a game that lets you watch as Pokémon and Miis interact with each other for the first time. Enjoy the relaxing ranch life by viewing your ranch and its Pokémon, taking pictures and sending those pictures to your friends via the Wii Message Board. The more Pokémon and Miis you bring to your ranch, the more fun it becomes. My Pokémon Ranch can be linked with the Nintendo DS Pokémon Diamond and Pokémon Pearl Game Cards to deposit the Pokémon you’ve caught in these games in your ranch. You can deposit a maximum of 1,000 Pokémon from up to eight different game cards. Make your ranch livelier by playing with your friends and family.
Over in VC land there are two NES import games up for grabs today: Dig Dug and Bio Miracle Bokutte Upa which might be worth a look if you don’t fancy taking a chance on Pokemon ranch.

THAT'S IT?! I waited for a week, wanting to spend Points and all we get is EPR? What a rip. <_< I would have AT LEAST liked to see Magnetica. This is very disappointing for me but for those that've been waiting for EPR eagerly, congrats.
Geez, people will complain about anything. I need to stop taking you guys so seriously.
Why are they slow with releasing games. If there are 100s of WiiWare games in development, then give us 3 or 4 a week. Just ridiculous.
Whats the point of this game? It just seems like a game where you can store all of your pokemon in a 3D enviorment. Sounds pointless.
@twr: Not only do I dislike PKMN but c'mon, ONE title. I hoped we would have at least gotten Magnetica. I was really looking fwd to spending points I got, that's all.
I hope this game comes out this Friday here in Europe.
@KnucklesSonic8 - If you've already purchased every WiiWare title worth purchasing, then I congratulate you on an impressive amount of money invested in your gaming library!
Remember uk wii-ware games come out every 15days so it will be next friday or maybe 2 fridays after that! Noooo Nintendo why are we getting a rubbish wii-ware game when pokemon ranch was supposed to be a starter wii-ware title for europe! );
No need to moan. It's 1 WW + 2 VC. That's 2 VC more than us on Friday.
Still you have over 13 different WW games in the catalogue to download.
@ PALgamer-
we had a week without VC releases too, as well as Japan, so you can't complain about that.
and we've had WiiWare longer than you have, so it'll take you a while to catch up.
not to mention, the only games you're really missing out on are Defend Your Castle and Pop.
one game?
When they boast there are 100 wiiware games or w/e in development it takes the piss with one a week. Especially when theres clearly another 15-20 ready to launch for sure.
Why not 3 a week?
If it takes 2 weeks for wiiware games to come out in the UK that sux. One per two weeks its not enough!
Sweet, I've been wanting to play this game for a while now! =) Only problem is, I haven't played Pokemon Pearl a lot since I got it. (I'm probably gonna get made fun of, but I stopped playing after I skipped a gym. Don't remember my way back, and lost interest as a result lol) Does it only take the Pokemon that're on my DS, or can I just grab a bunch of Pikachus and stuff by default?
Why are they slow with releasing games. If there are 100s of WiiWare games in development, then give us 3 or 4 a week. Just ridiculous.
A 100 in development doesn't mean 100 are ready to come out. Also you lot would complain just as badly if you got 10 Wiiware games one week then nothing for three months.
Whats the point of this game? It just seems like a game where you can store all of your pokemon in a 3D enviorment. Sounds pointless.
Some people really need the space (and Ambrella really needs to release yet another crappy game as its been nearly 4 years...). You can call the people freaks and geeks for 450 pokemon not being enough space but in a way thats kind of the pot calling the kettle black (since everyone loves to complain about the Wiis internal storage).
It stores a 1000 pokemon and if you fill it up you get Mew. And people whine at MMO grinding yet catching 1000 pokemon is somehow kosher. Oh well at least Mew is better than Surfing Pichu (which was the Gamecubes pokemon box reward...that one could hold 1500!)
@ Starwolf_UK-
Your post doesn't make any sense. Of course people would complain if we got 10 games one week, then 3 months of nothing. We should be getting 2 games a week, and in 3 months we should have around 24 games. Why should we be happy with 10?
And how can you compare storing Pokemon to the Wii's storage crisis. Lack of storage prohibits us from freely enjoying the maximum number of games. Is anyone suffering from not having a place to keep their Pokemon? Oh, and don't use the saying "the pot calling the kettle black" since you clearly don't know how to use it right.
In conclusion, this week sucks for WiiWare, but VC makes up for it. I can't imagine too many people are interested in a place to store Pokemon, which is probably why we only got one game. Nintendo doesn't want another game to steal any potential buyers. Hopefully next week we see Gyrostarr, or another Wii-point-worthy WiiWare title.
Guys, can we save the bitching comments for VC Reviews please?
Really? Store enough pokemans and get a Mew? Got to catch a lot of Mudkips now!
@ Dazza- hell no.
i'm spreading the love to both sites.
DJ_Philanegro- You are able to get one free Pokemon a day . I read this off of a ign preview. Anyway if you add pokemon to the ranch you are still allowed to keep them in your card.
I will end up buying this game no matter the rating for my brothers, who in my opinion are addicted to pokemon. As long as they play it for at least ten hours I'll be happy.
I think the Strong Bad game was supposed to come out today, but they delayed it to July. I guess Nintendo didn't feel like filling its spot in today's release with anything else.
P.S. I have Pokemon Diamond, but I'm really skeptical on downloading this one, especially for 1,000 points. I definitely need to wait for a review on EPR.
We should be getting 2 games a week
Can you point me to Nintendos statement that says 2 WiiWare games will be released per week? In the conext of your 3 months argument if they are all weeks like this they will be bearly more than 10. But, you're thinking too much about the numbers.
What I was trying to say is no matter the games released both in quanitity and the titles themselves you'll still get people complaining.
I think Dazza was saying VC-reviews is the place to complain about that because every week has a complaint about no Earthbound or Super Mario RPG (plus occasionally Majora's Mask).
And how can you compare storing Pokemon to the Wii's storage crisis
How can you not read. What I said was the reason why Pokemon Ranch might be useful to people. I then go on to say that some people might think if you need more than 450 pokemon that person is a freak but needing more than 512MB can be viewed in the same light (and alledegy Laurent Fischer, a pretty important person at NOE* said that the only people who have problems with the Wii stroage are geeks and otaku) which leads to the idioum...
*-I can't remember if he is head of marketing or head of France or marketing in France...
Oh, and don't use the saying "the pot calling the kettle black" since you clearly don't know how to use it right.
You're kidding me. Either you are 100% ignorant are are just plain blind to truth. I should leave it at that but since i'm in a good mood i'll give an explaination about why the two problems very similar.
Both are storage problems which effect the full enjoyment of the product. Both have solutions (delete stuff*) but neither side likes that. The statement "Is anyone suffering from not having a place to keep their Pokemon?" implies you don't see it as a problem and therefore you are saying don't complain about the pokemon storage problem. Which is the perfect embodiment of "the pot calling the kettle black" since every body loves to complain about the Wiis stroage on a weekly basis. Your statement "Lack of storage prohibits us from freely enjoying the maximum number of games" implies the stroage problem matters to you yet you want to downplay the Pokemon storage problem (the fact you go as far as calling the Wii one a "crisis"...)
I know its a bit of a lousey argument (pot calling kettle black argument tends to be illogical at times plus they tend to be attacking arguers rather than arguments...which I geuss is the whole "freaks need more" line I was aiming at ) but in that context I was trying to put forward the word usage was correct. I hope you understand now.
*-Though the pokemon you'll never see again. You mgiht see the same species but given the probability of something like 1 in a billion of the stats being the same (though to be honest ones with crap stats or useless natures are going to be fodder for getting Mew or otherwise disposed of).
The games can be re-downloaded or copied from an SD card making it more of an annoyance than anything (though an annoyance is still a bad thing don't get me wrong).
I was hoping for GyroStarr...
If anyone bought this game... how many blocks space does it take out?... i know its 1000 wii points to buy it but just wondering about the block space for it cause it doesnt say on the game page.
@ StarWolf_UK-
i understand the Pokemon storage thing a little better now,
but i couldn't care less about Pokemon, so my opinion is a little bias.
and as for the number of games, Nintendo has already said it has over 100 games in development,
so 2 games a week seems appropriate, seeing as that'd last Nintendo over a year.
the US has had nothing but 2 games a week until today, so hopefully this isn't a reoccurring event.
and i'm not blind to the truth,
i just can't handle the truth.
thanks for the explanation though,
most people would of called me ignorant and left it at that.
@Kenji - Block size is 123 blocks, not taking into account game save space.
123? Thats it? Nuce. Bet that brings a smile to the faces of many.
I hate Pokemon with a passion. My brothers, when they were little, were into the cards and game boy color games. That was a long time ago and they have grown out of it since. I still can't believe Pokemon is around.
Deal with it Tim.
@ Tim- you're not alone. i can't believe they're still around either.
to me, Pokemon died after Pokemon Yellow/ Red/ and Blue.
after that, it became unbearably repetitive, and a MMOG might be the only thing that could get me back into Pokemon, but that'll never happen.
And I bet if they never made a sequel in thhe first place, you and many others would bi***ing that they should of made a sequel. And I cant see how you dont think pokemon silver & gold were good and original.
@Tim
You'd be surprised, man. I used to hate Pokemon with a passion too up until 9th grade. I was finally trying out all the things I passed up as a kid, and Pokemon Blue just happened to be one of them. Instead of just making fun of the game as I played through it as my original plan was, I ended up loving it to death. Something about my Charmander barely beating that Rock Gym...Maybe that's more reason to avoid it, though... >.O
@Superdab
Awesome! Even though it's IGN and not 100% trustworthy, (in my book anyways, no offense bro) feels good to get a new Pokemon everyday! I'm gonna feel kind of cheap if I end up getting a lot of good ones, but I guess after stopping in Pearl for like, a year, I might as well get all the help I can to catch up lol.
@ ttplayer92- no, Red and Blue was enough for me. and to me they're still the best versions of the game.
W/e but many people want this channel and they werent going to can it because of some pokemon haters.
i am going with the "we got crap" approach. but on the other hand i am thinking "they can't be great every week".
Pokemon haters? i just grew out of it, i don't play Halo either, am i a Halo hater?
but don't expect this game to crack the top 10 WiiWare games,
not that many people have a Wii and DS, have a wireless connection, and still enjoy Pokemon.
sorry to burst your bubble, go level up Pikachu.
@ strade32- you took the words right out of my mouth.
No, becuase youre calling it crap. As for the top ten, wait and see.
actually i said unbearably repetitive
and i'll wait, and see.
Whatever, at least the VC got some dope games today...
Meh, I don't want it. I'll get Bio Miracle on VC when I get some more points, though.
I like Pokemon. I just hate what Ninty has doen with it. What should have been Pocket Monsters I, II, III, and IV (in any normal series) became, Red Blue Yellow Gold Silver Crystal Ruby Sapphire Emerald Diamond Pearl and now PLATINUM (look it up). Not only that, but they put out shoddy "games" like this for all the people STUPID enough to buy so many versions that they need another to store all their crap on. I am so glad I just spent my points this weekend on Toki Tori and LostWinds because this is one of those "not even considered" releases.
I used to have pokemon on the ds but I sold it so this week means nothing to me
Anyone who's surprized at just one WiiWare this week hasn't been paying attention to the ESRB ratings page here. There were 9 games currently rated for US release. 4 Mondays in June, 8 games (Magnetica and Pokemon are both Nintendo, so only one can be in June) so if they did two a week then they'd out by July, whereas if they only do one a week till more get rated, then they've got two whole months. Never underestimate Reggie's Night Terrors of an "empty week".
Yes, there are 100+ WiiWare titles, but the vast majority of them haven't got a whole lot of code written yet - they're still mainly ideas.
Pass. Might have considered it if I still had my Pokemon games but I got rid of them when I realized they required more time than I was able to invest, unfortunately. I'm just glad Nintendo got this one out of the way finally so maybe we can expect some of those "infamous" VC releases soon. You know the ones I'm talking about.
Pokemon....Ranch? Oh god.
i will be waiting for the Top 10, ttplayer92. can't wait to see it not making it .
A Pokemon week and I can't believe how many Pokemon games there is out there now. I got to agree with the person who said Red and Blue were the best I agree with you. There was inventory issues and the boxes are annoying compared to the newer games but they were the best due to being simple. Also I think the Gold/Silver/Crystal were excellent due to adding in Kanto (but sadly no Safari Zone).
Anyways, I think they just released Pokemon so people would focus on it. I don't think this game is worth 1000 points and I wish they would start pricing certain Wii Ware games a bit cheaper. I am not interested in this game though. It reminds me of Pokemon Box.
I considered this a great week from both sides of the field.
YYYYYYYYYYYYEEEEEEEEEEEEEESSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!
I will be downloading this now!
@ ttplayer92- if this game cracks the top 10 i'll gift you a game of your choice.
@xSuperMariox
You do realize a lot of Wii and DS owner, as well as most Pokemon fans are children? Just saying, you better start adding some points, since you lost that bet(esp. considering there are only 13 wiiware games, not too hard to make it to the Top 10).
@peznaze
Good info, very helpful. Now I won't have my hopes too high next week only to have them come crashing down(like this week).
@Rapadash6, you read my mind, buddy.
@ mr. niceguy-
yes, i realize that. and how many of those little kids have a Wii, a DS, internet, a Pokemon game, and parents willing to pay for this stupid game?
not very damn many.
i also realize the number of games on the WiiWare service, but thanks for counting for me anyway, its greatly appreciated. rolling eyes
as for your assumption that i lost, i think its beyond ignorant. those other 12 games have been out longer, and appeal to a wider audience.
you underestimate my self-confidence, but we'll see when the next top 10 comes out.
@ Tibii-
exactly. older players won't feel the need to buy it, and most little kids don't even know what WiiWare is, besides the little kids on this site...
For little kids who want to add to their PKMN experience it would probably be a good edition for them. But since you can't train or batle your PKMN non-little kids,i.e older players not swayed by cutesy graphics, might not find it worth downloading.
x.SuperMario.x
Deal. I agree that its not very likely but I think it will since its the first week. Oh and if I win I will make you gift me pokemon ranch since I think it costs to much money.
Or you can gift me Dr mario, either will do.
haha, alright. i'd be contributing to my own loss.
is WiiConnect 24 automaticly on when you start the game or do you have to turn it on?
Thats the best part.
Oh and when does the top 10 list usuallly come in?
finding the top 10 list is up to you.
but i think we saw one last Thursday, so maybe we'll see one this Thursday?
I will just wait till this site gives it then.
Er.. Go into the Wii Shop, go to Wii Ware, and look at Popular Titles, presto, the top WiiWare downloads, in order. Sites that show you movement from week to week generally grab their data from there on Wednesday or Thursday. You can grab it anytime, though. But without the context of what they were last week, it means little.
@supermario
What Peznaze said. I sincerely hope that this doesnt make it into the top 10, but it probably will. Lil kids are better informed than you'd think. BTW, I can check the top 10 for you whenever you want if you can't/don't want to.
Whats the time limit then x.SuperMario.x? I would like it to last until next monday comes but what do you think the limit should be?
next monday works. i just can't see it making the top 10.
but if i'm wrong, i'll stick to my word, shoot myself in the foot, and send you My Pokemon Ranch.
My apologies, x.SuperMario.x, I had a feeling you would be angry when I posted that, I was trying to be as uninsulting as possible, while still soundind witty. Guess I failed, huh? I just thought that your bet was a little too rash, perhaps ignorant. It's just that, I could see Pokemon Ranch getting #10 easy, if not a little higher. If it were me, I would have required that it at least gets #5 on the list, as I don't see it quite getting that.
Though, when I look at this now, I realize I'm too little, too late, huh? Oh well...
i think the limit should be forever. as it will never make it on the Top 10.
@x.supermario.x- somebody ripped your avatar dude. check the blockbuster deluxe gamepage.
@ strade32- yeah, i saw it earlier today.
for some reason, on every site, someone always copies it.
but he doesn't make too many posts, so i won't hunt him down.
and i sincerely hope it doesn't make the top 10,
or i'll have to sacrifice Gunstar Heroes so i can gift him that game.
@ mr.niceguy- this whole thing seems a bit puzzling....
coming from someone called mr. nice guy....
@ Virus- damn, i better pray.
i was really looking forward to Gunstar Heroes with my next Wii Points card purchase.
well, in support of me, nobody download this
Woo boy, this is getting to be quite the comment page. I hope x.SuperMario.x won't be gifting any games, because sheesh, I'm also hoping this doesn't make the top 10. I don't share your hate or dislike entirely, but this doesn't seem anywhere near too great. Besides, this game kinda costs 170 bucks when you think about it (DS, a Pokemon game, and My Pokemon Ranch). I'm blowing this out of proportion, yes, but the idea still seems screwed up to me.
Hmm, sadly, I see this game ranking among the higher portion of the top 10 next week.... prepare to spend those points x.SuperMario.x...
Sorry to burst the bubble, but after only 12 hours of availability, My Pokemon Ranch is already the #7 most downloaded WiiWare title. (Beating Toki Tori, which is #8) By next Monday, I expect it will be #1.
On a side note, TV Show King is not currently #4, Family Table Tennis is. Is that better?
Pokemon Ranch is already beating Toki Tori?
i'm sorry, but that just goes to show people will buy up anything thats related to Nintendo.
Toki Tori is infinitely better than Pokemon Ranch, but i guess i misjudged the number of misinformed WiiWare customers.
oh well, looks like me and ttplayer92 need to exchange friends codes, and i need some Wii points.
Pokemon Ranch beating Toki Tori just shows that all Nintendo needs to do to make money is design a boring and shallow game experience, put Pokemon or Wii on the title, and charge twice as much as it is worth. And boom Nintendo just made another milion from misinformed wii owners.
I pity the fool who buys this without owning diamond or pearl..
@superdab
I aggre I would never gotten the game if I had not bought D or P and I do pity the people who did buy this without D or P!
x.SuperMario.x
Yay. Oh and just to let everyone know, you dont NEED to have a DS or pokemon D & P to play this game.
Sometimes your biggest fans are the thing to be scared about. This guy really loves his Pokemon. He really critcises it too but what he says about Pokemon Ranch (warning: rant and rightly so!! the reviewer for this site might like to stop reading now):
http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showpost.php?p=11523259&postcount=1251
Ambrella managed to make something worse than Pokemon Dash or Pokemon Channel? (Hey You Pikachu was pretty bad too but the mic gimmik makes it feel more like a wonky tech demo than a game)
They managed to mess up something as simple as that...what this is can't withdraw to different games. Thats the point of the box games if you ask me. As you can store all you stuff on the storage system and then start a new game without having to lose anything that might have taken you a long time to train. Or you can easily mass transfer all your stuff to the enetable definitive 3rd entry of the generation (Platinum).
Its funny how the Pokemon storage has gotten worse with each itteraiton. Stadium had good storage features for the time (plus an emulator in the game with double and triple speed options) even allowing you to store items (which we hav'nt seen in newer ones but since the Pokemon can hold the items now, its moot).
Box Ruby and Saphire allowed withdrawal to different games but to stop you taking a high level team early game you had to have a Pokedex of over 100 before you could withdraw. To desposit there was no limitation (so you could start a new game and doposit starters for instance).
It also had a emulator but its kind of pointless since you need a GBA to even use the game
To end on a good note the trades in Pokemon Ranch are actually pretty good deals. The items they have tend to be rare or they have some of the breeding only moves (egg moves).
http://serebii.net/ranch/trade.shtml
I won't be buying because the slowness of Diamond and Pearl (thing is its like every gen of Pokemon gets slower*) effectively killed the franchise for me. Plus for 1000 points I'd rather buy Toki Tori or Actionloop Twist
*-Be it flashy effects or the fact there is more crap to remind me of every turn. Yes, I know i'm poisoned, you told me LAST TURN, sotp wasting my time with these messages
Ummm, x.SuperMario.x, can you gift me Dr mario instead?
@Hyperfludd: same here
@ ttplayer92
yeah, i'd rather not buy Pokemon Ranch anyway.
whats your FC?
Its 0751 5408 0660 6635. Do I need your own too?
poor supermario, but at least you dont have to gift IT to him anymore
