Re: The Studio That Ported Skyrim To Switch Wants To Tackle Monster Hunter World Next

@MFD power isnt everything actually and am really against powerfull consoles because they make development costs much higher and most of the resources and time is spent on making the world look better instead of being spent on story and other important stuff like but fixing and in terms of multiplayer games online net code improvements. and if you think that doesn't make any sense look at the PS3 and Xbox 360 days; we got some of the greatest games of all time and that is all because of the fact that Xbox 360 and PS3 with the main consoles in the market for 8 years and if you heard the news of Nintendo decided to keep the switch for a very long time and not release switch 2 it's because they know that over the years much more improve games will be made. take 3ds as an examplei f the 3DS was going to be replaced in its first 4 years it would be considered a failing console cause in its first four years it's literally didn't have those amazing games that it has all over this time. I think the most important aspect to know here is the fact that overtime developers get better with codeine 4 consoles and I can give you my own experience when I started working on Xbox 360 games back in my first days after graduation I used to suck horribly because I didn't understand how they worked 3 years later and I am able to literally do anything in very short. Of time and actually be able to do things that back in the day weren't even possible for me. and because Nintendo chose arm-based chips I promise you a year from now if there are incentives to make massive triple A games they will look amazing mark my words.

@Menchi187 it actually really isnt that horrible btw tegra has a very decent well designed ARM based CPU , On the other hand , there is the crappy amd a4 based cpus on xbox one and ps4. the problem isnt on on sheer power it's actually about how efficient the architecture is switch arm-based CPU is extremely efficient compare to the AMD Jaguar A4 that is being used on Xbox One and PS4.

Okay i might have worked on a few switch games. But i kinda think its possible and actually it will run quite well , it will just be a CPU optimization nightmare. What do I mean by that? these days I am trying to work harder on my switch programming capabilities and i try to push switch beyond its limits (loading intensive demos from UE4) am usually limited by memory (the infamous out of memory error) But i noticed something interesting that most of the time its the cpu thats being pushed very hard not the gpu thats why you notice in many GPU intensive games you get good framerates and in CPU intenisve ones its usually the living hell. An example of this is Destiny, despite the fact that Xbox One X is more powerful than PS4 Pro they both run at the same frame rate the reason as Bungie has stated was the weak CPUs of modern consoles. Lets not go so far , if you go check dooms patch notes you will notice that they were able to get these improvements in frame rate and resolution thanks to CPU optimization. so I think if they're going to Port it to switch the first thing that they will do is lower the textures due to memory constraints next they will probably do what xenoblade 2 did and this try to hit a doc resolution of 720P and from here it's only the beginning of hell now they have to start CPU optimizing and boy it's a living hell because probably the engine they're using is very very very horrible as I can notice with the condition of the gam in other consoles but what I think is that with enough time and very hard work they can get it running. something about switch the harder you work on it the more you can get what I mean is the switch has a huge headroom and there are still massive possibilities. the use of double backed math and other techiques once perfected can help produce amazing games on switch

Re: Soapbox: Nintendo Switch Learned A Lot From Wii U’s Struggles During Its Own First Year

mahmoodinho98

I think Wii U failed cause it had two problems
1) it wasn't innovative enough to cause a big mania (sorta like wii and switch)
2) it wasn't powerfull enough to cover up for its gimmicks , for example if it was as powerfull as lets say an xbox one , it would have been able to survive but its problem was that it had almost the same specs of 8 year old consoles with an ancient gpu (amd 2000E series)

@Bliquid
its not a pile of salt at all by the way , if you actually took time to read it .... which as you clearly stated .... you didnt , in fact what he said is anti-fanboy. he said that the game is unlikely to come to switch due to the technical limitations of the console and that its actually a much better choice if it remains that way , because even if its ported it will be so stripped down it will lose its magic. then he explained that he hopes for a spin off or a port of XX ..... so please read the article befor commenting
