Re: Wii U GamePad Can Play Assassin's Creed 3 in 3D

luminalace

I don't understand the need for a particular brand of glasses just to get 3D on AC3! I really don't care about 3D though but if I could have used some of my 3D glasses I have lying around from a blu ray movie I fail to remember, I would have given it a whirl.

Re: Wii U Software Discounts Hit Ahead of Black Friday, Analysts Weigh In

luminalace

The Wii had an amazing buzz around the system which the Wii U lacks but already Gamestop have said that while console pre-orders are around the same as Wii, games pre-orders are significantly higher. This means that early Wii U buyers are buying more games than they did with Wii which points to the awesome launch day lineup.

I am really hoping that 3rd parties have more success on Wii U than they did with Wii. Us Nintendo fans have a responsibility to not just buy Nintendo's titles but good quality 3rd party games too. I know far too many hardcore Nintendo fans who just buy 1st party stuff.

Re: Reggie - Wii U Is "Absolutely The Beginning Of A New Generation"

luminalace

I may be a fanboy but I totally think the Wii U is the beginning of a new generation. Hey even if the Wii was on par with the original Xbox, no one seriously puts the Wii in the PS2, Xbox or Gamecube generation but instead alongside the PS3 and 360. The next generation will have 3 consoles and that will be Wii U, PS4 and Xbox 720 and will always be remembered as such. Lets just hope this coming generation really isnt the last as some say it will be!

Re: 3DS Passes Eight Million Sales in Japan

luminalace

Wow Animal Crossing is huge in Japan...what impressive opening numbers. Last week the 3DS hardware sales magically shot up which now makes me think that people were getting the system ahead of the launch of Animal Crossing. Go 3DS! The way things are going It should pass PS3 lifetime sales by late January at the latest if not sooner!

Re: First Image of Wii U eShop Surfaces

luminalace

Looks nice though it's very hard to tell from that screenshot how it will all be set out. Is the Mario and Luigi boxes reference to "Mario Games" and "Luigi Games" like they do on the 3DS eShop or or those options to be clicked on to go further? Regardless it's very clean and uncluttered and I'm sure they will put what they have learned on 3DS to make the Wii U eShop an even better product!

Re: Reaction: Wii U's Social Potential Takes Shape

luminalace

Awesome Wii U is going to rock. I would have liked a slightly updated take on the UI because it's very much like what we have already seen on Wii and 3DS - Maybe they could have added a bit more colour this time around to make it a bit more techy but we already know it works and has proven to be very user friendly! I actually thought that Wara Plaza was the new interface which would have been cool!

Re: Need for Speed: Most Wanted Racing Onto Wii U in 2013

luminalace

Really looking forward tothis. Haven't been excited for a Need For Speeg game in ages but with Criterion behind the wheel, I expect this game to be great.

As for Cross platform online play...I think it's a cert that Wii U will get it too but if the game takes too long to come out we may have lost many players or worse be severely disadvantaged by people who have had the game for months!

Re: Activision Clueless On How Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 DLC Will Work On Wii U

luminalace

I echo everyone's else opinion that Nintendo should really have this sorted by now! Of course the game will be online (so was the COD series on Wii) but to think that the developers of one of the most important 3rd party games still don't know what they can or can't do is is very disappointing!

You would think Online would be one of the things Nintendo would be prioritising as one of the most important things to get right this time around!

Re: Guess What? Michael Pachter Isn't a Fan of The Wii U

luminalace

Pachter is passing off his opinions with stuff that is well known!

3rd parties struggle on Nintendo consoles but this has nothing to do with the Wii Remote, the Gamepad or dual screens of the DS. In fact, Just Dance is Ubisoft's most successful franchise of all thanks to the Wii and it's uniqueness. If Nintendo just had a normal controller last gen, there would have been no Just Dance or even if it would have been made, it wouldn't have become the sales phenomenon that it is!

Nintendo make very good games and people buy Nintendo systems usually to be able to play their games. This is why 3rd parties are more likely to do better on competing consoles especially where they don't have to go up against Nintendo's own games!!!

Am I right or wrong people?

Re: Factory Fire Will Not Affect Wii U Production

luminalace

Wow 7.3 million forecast for shipping! Has Nintendo made such a forecast? I would expect them to ship 4-5 million by the end of March (End of fiscal year for Japan) based on past system launches but if that 7.3 - 8.3 million number is correct that would be an unprecedented start!

Re: Teens Losing Interest In Social Gaming, Turning To Traditional Consoles

luminalace

While I am not sure about the accuracy of the data, non gamers do lose interest quicker than gamers! Once new consoles are released, the traditional gamers will come out of the woodwork and all will be right in the world again!

Let's hope that some of these social gamers are now more inclined to play console games after their taste of gaming on non traditional outlets!

Re: Reggie: Time Spent on Rival Devices is a Missed Opportunity For Nintendo

luminalace

@TruenoGT

I think Nintendo are not trying to do what Sony or Apple or anything like that! With the Wii they tried to make a system with news channels and the like and an intuitive user interface like the Wii Remote to try and get the whole family using the system, not just kids! With TVWii they look like they are trying the same thing. Even the design of the Gamepad is trying to be a device that may be used by even grandma's to broaden use of the system. I thin k it's a Trojan horse type strategy!

I honestly think Nintendo do these things to get more people playing games while MS in particular are making their Xbox to be a device that bring them in money from things other than gaming!

Re: Sony: Wii U is Targeting "Niche Early Adopter Market" This Holiday

luminalace

I don't have an opinion on the niche early adopter part but it's nice to have the Sony dude be respectful to Nintendo. I think the market is changing and if Nintendo have a early successful start like they did with the Wii, Sony may need to change their tactic a bit next gen and not just hope that their old practices will work!
