Not only do I expect it to happen, I look forward to it with glee! I loved the Virtual Console on Wii and I really want the Wii U to be able to play the full array of retro Nintendo consoles!

Sounds like a good thing especially if it allows mobile developers who are successful on other platforms to branch out to Wii U development!

I'm not sure about what is the core gamer and which bundle will attract them but having a cheaper model without a game is good business. Each model will attract various people for various reasons!

I was very surprised about Bayonetta 2 being a Wii exclusive. While I never played the original, I am impressed that Nintendo is willing to publish such a game in the West, same with Ninja Gaiden 3!

Yeah the Australian price is cheaper than I expected and much cheaper than the EB Games pre-order price of $599! In fact a tool at EB Games in Melbourne was telling me that he had inside knowledge that the console will be $599. $429 (c'mon who will buy the 8GB unit) with Nintendoland is $70 cheaper than I expected and I would have paid that price without a game!

I actually think there may be stuff missing from this list. Remember that game Sniper Ghost Warrior 2? It was leaked via an ESRB rating. It's made by City Interactive, hardly the greatest company as far as quality & reputation, which is even more reason to believe that other games from smaller companies may not be on this list!

Also over here in Australia, EB games has basically placeholder boxes for confirmed games yet amongst them is Need for Speed: Most Wanted. They may know something because it's hard to believe they made up just one game!

As long as I can plug an external HDD then the storage isn
't that much of a concern for me. However I would still get the 32GB unit!

Honestly I really like ID Software but I would really doubt if any of their games will ever show up on Wii U!

While I would still consider a purchase on a Conduit 3 on Wii U, I suspect the news is more likely to be Conduit 2 on 3DS. I actually liked the 1st game and the 2nd had potential but ultimately bored me to death.

Great article Thomas. I loved how you touched upon the closure of many studios...it wasn't Wii development that killed them.

I think Nintendo will survive and yes the Wii U may have less 3rd party support than the PS3 & 360 but it will still have most of the big players and lots of other smaller studios who can't afford PS4 & XB 720 development.

The problem for Nintendoland is that despite Nintendo pushing it heavily at E3, people associate it as a mini game collection ala Wii Sports and thus few will be willing to fork out full price for such a game. Basically I think it should be bundled but I understand why Nintendo may want to have a 'core' bundle with no game!

I am really happy for the developers that after 8 long years their game is about to be released. Too bad that I will have to wait that bit longer even though I live in the same city the developers do!

Was expecting NSMB2 to do well but wow Kingdom Hearts 3D also sold really well.

"Arguably ONE of the 3ds eagerly awaited titles"? My guess is, this is the most anticipated 3DS title in Japan, especially considering MH 3G has sold almost as much as MK7 and Super Mario 3D Land.

Monster Hunter may be just be the biggest franchise these days in Japan and is well and truly up there with Dragon Quest and Pokemon!

It sounds plausible but so does most of the leaks. December 7th is the rumoured date doing the rounds in Australia too so may just be true!

I got a street pass hit from you (amongst many) on the day NSMB2 launched at the Nintendo Experience and asked around but never found you!

I wanted to go but with no confirmation about a Wii U showing, I'm not sure I will bother.

While admittedly the movie is pretty crappy, as a kid I loved it, if purely for putting video games into a movie! However I would have to be rich to ever consider purchasing that for $5000.

For some reason I am quietly considering thid despite passing on the Wiiware games. It better be cheap though espcially if the rebiews scores are in the same ballpark.

A port isn't nearly as hard to make as an original game so I would expect the Wii U version of Mass Effect 3 to be more than competent!

Besides, it's an Aussie developer...you can't go wrong!

I don't think graphics will be as important this gen! While it does seem like Nintendo is making the same mistakes, it was the lack of HD resolution on the Wii that bothered most, not the dated hardware!

However I would hope that Nintendo are at least aiming for hardware that can better 360/PS3 purely because they are 6-7 years old.

Other M was very good and one of the last games I really enjoyed on the Wii! Nintendo were responsible for the story which is where the game was really a let down! Other M proved that sometimes having no voice acting is the better option!

I think Tecmo/Team Ninja should get another stab even if only for a sequel to Other M!

Didn't Team Ninja say that Nintendo has been helping them make the product better some time back? It could be exactly what the doctor asked for!

I just woke up - 8.43am on a Saturday...leaving to get NSMB2 now because shops open at 9! Btw, I am in Australia where Nintendo decided to release the game on a weekend.

I hope this turns out well! I really need a good racing game for 3DS. It's time to give Ridge Racer and Mario Kart a rest!

Thanks mate..I will get it at Target then! I checked JB in Melb CBD today and it's listed as $59! Yeah I saw the Gold Coin Edition at EB Games...not only will I not spend $69, I don't actually even understand what the pre-order bonus is! It sucks it's releasing on a Saturday and not Thursday like usual...I will have to by it in the suburbs!

I loved Legend of the Mystical Ninja on SNES but may need to wait for the review before I consider the gameboy version, besides I will be too busy playing NSMB2!

I'm guessing in Australia that means $69.95 when I will be buying the retail copy for $59 at JB Hifi! Sorry Nintendo NO DEAL!

I have got it and I am starting to like it more and more! The early levels are really easy but as the action speeds up, so does the thrill and sensation of speed! It's only $4.50 (Australia) and unlike anything else I've seen as far as 3DS Downloads in the eShop.

$15.00 (au) I won't be spending my money on. The price was steep enough as is but alas the game is average at best.

However unlike some here I loved Mutant Mudds but it's as hard as nails.

I am waiting for NL's review before committing to this!

The 3DS has still sold 19 million units so far...far from a flop! However I don't ever see a traditional handheld video game system outselling the original DS.

I can't wait to see how much DQX will sell and how much the Wii will sell in Japan in it's launch week.

As much as I love Nintendo, going head to head with Sony & MS for the market they already dominate would be a bigger risk. We Nintendo fans are loyal and though we may sometimes complain, we prefer Nintendo marching to the beat of their own drum. Besides who wants basically 3 identical consoles next gen?
