Hard to believe that all of Europe is being held hostage because of one parties laws. Seems like a bad solution. For those of you suggesting there are other ways to obtain these games (ie physical copies) and therefore people should stop complaining, while a very fair point does not invalidate that this EU system of digital distribution (reportedly due to Germany's laws) is not really a great solution for an entire continent.
@The_Fox
I seem to recall reports of ESRB ratings being around $2000 for what that is worth to the discussion. I cannot confirm this is correct so I could be way off. Can anyone confirm? Deny?
EDIT: US dollars is the currency I was reporting to be concise.
@WhiteKnight I'm curious regarding your thoughts on fanboys not being fans. Obviously this is not the place for that discussion but I would be interested in hearing your thoughts on the topic.
I would like to commend the staff for looking out for the safety of my property with a very appropriate caution. The only thing I managed to damage was myself....and maybe other people's ears with my crying.
@WesCash: I will not deny that the points brought up that actually pertain to the the topic are good, thought out and at least seemingly educated points (I am indeed one of the insidious common folk on law). However, I could do w/o the extracurricular on those points.
@WhiteKnight Lol......you couldn't resist could you. Like an addict. Your manner of addressing those (probably plebs to your thinking) on the other topic seemed anything but reasonable. It it upsets you that much maybe you should avoid it.
@Aviator I really hope I am misinterpreting you. So a human being's (not a character mind you) likeness is part of their intellectual property. If so I fear for society when I company can own someone's likeness. Your other comparison is apples to oranges unless that is the individuals true voice and not just a caricature. Just my opinion though.
Hardly surprised. Nintendo runs at the smallest and first signs of religious sensitivity. Not making a judgement one way or another as to whether that is a wise business decision, it simply is what it is.
@41 Well I suppose it wasn't what High Voltage pulled. Just remember twitter is not always your friend when you are agitated. Although I am in agreement that I don't like the non-disclosure pact for sales figures. Seems like a dishonest if not bad business practice.
To be honest Nintendo doesn't have that great a track record of working with smaller developers. I'm sure some of you remember those surveys when they were asking developers about working with Microsoft, Sony, Nintendo, Steam etc...yeah Nintendo's feedback wasn't stellar. Having said that Icon is probably not someone I want championing that cause.
@sudino nah I just have trouble caring about something that appears blatantly retrofitted into the series. Which is why I enjoyed this one so much it doesn't take itself too seriously (or seriously at all for that matter). I just play the games and enjoy them. I could care less how/if their fragmented stories fit together. I take each as its own separate piece.
This is a simple but fantastic game. I doubt I would purchase it again after completing it on Steam, but if it gives more people a chance to play it this would be a nice move.
meh....I was never too hung up on a connection between all the games. If Big N wants to pretend like they were all along trying to create a cohesive story amongst all the games I'll go with it. I can buy most of the justification for the way this suggest it is split up. Though truthfully I always took these games as separate legends each entry (with the obvious exception of those that clearly took place in the same space).
@warioswoods I'd give it a try it might surprise you, though obviously if you don't like the game's art design playing it isn't likely to change your mind on that.
I have to be completely honest. This may well be my favorite platformer on the wii. Of course this could be due to some of the other great platformers not being fresh on my mind, but I am undeniably pleased with my purchase.
Well I will say that this game has caught my eye. I'm cautiously intrigued by it, but I've never played this style of game before so maybe I'll go check out SM War.
@meta-rift I'm with you there. If the motion-controls were good but the rest of the game was subpar the controls wouldn't save the experience for me. Having said that I'd be lying if I didn't say I was intrigued and a little bit anticipatory of trying out this new control scheme. Ultimately for me I come from the "old-school" the game needs to be fun, whatever you define as such, above all else and the control scheme just needs to 'work' as seamlessly as possible. If the control scheme happens to add to fun all the better.
@haywired I agree and disagree with you in a sense. I agree that motion controls have seldom, if ever been immersive. However, I disagree that controls cannot be involved in the immersion process. I would agree that traditionally they have not been part of the process, but I feel more and more they are becoming part of the overall experience.
Oh man how I would love to have one of these. Unfortunately there is no way in my right (or left) mind I can justify spending that much money on one..........and that would be assuming I had that much sitting around. Nonetheless they look beautiful.
My input is that at the moment I am far less concerned about the soundtrack to the game stuff and more interested in just getting the game. So at the moment I am stuck in that single-minded pursuit.
@Kid thats interesting. You listed the only two I really haven't played much of as the your favorites. I guess I've got some work to do. If zero mission is really as sublime as you suggest I'll be in heaven. Super Metroid was always my favorite, though truthfully I've enjoyed every metroid game I've played.
@warioswoods I absolutely agree. I loved that opening title screen and was disappointed that it was cut in the trilogy. Oh well I suppose I still have my original game cube copy.
So I am consistently a little confused about why The Big N does things the way they choose to. Can anyone enlighten me as to why, since this is clearly an attempt to stimulate sales, they wouldn't attempt this way in advance of any attempt at a console price drop? Throw in some freebies if you purchase the console within a certain frame of time to try to generate some more interest. Not that as a consumer I'm complaining about a lower price, but from a business standpoint it confuses me.
I am having trouble tempering my excitement and this article certainly doesn't help any. I hope the swordplay is as solid as most have been suggesting.
Not sure how crazy I am about the Hell Temple being DLC. Unfortunately if I find that I can be successful at this new La Mulana without losing every last shred of my sanity they may have me over a barrel. However I struggled mightily with the original so there may be no fear of that to begin with.
@Slapshot Just making sure I was clear and hadn't come off boorish. I tip my hat to you good sir. Oh and I agree with you I can respect good competent game developers regardless of affiliation, though my wallet may not be able to support as many as I would like.
@Slapshot that was very informative thank you. I'm still not sure I agree with you technically speaking on the ownership part, but it seems like their agreement has a lot of built in freedom for Naughty to pull away if desired. Which would definitely allow it to function independently of its investor. Like I said I'm glad you shared that with me very interesting. Oh and for the record I was not attempting to bash Sony. I think a little friendly competition makes things interesting, not that Richmond was all that critical in the first place.
@106 am I confused or is Naughty Dog not a subsidiary of Sony? Which would imply that Sony owns the majority of voting stock in the company. Sony may in fact give them a lot of leeway in development, which I am ignorant to so I will take your word for it. However, if Naughty Dog is indeed a subsidiary of Sony, then Sony does own them in at least a small fashion.
@39 Yeah I agree. Just typical competitive business stuff. May not always like the way its done, but its ingrained in the culture of business to be competitive and to criticize competition. Besides I didn't think he said anything all that scathing. Seemed like Richmond attempted to be somewhat reverent.
For some reason to me it sort of comes off as an excuse. ie "We didn't design anything badly we just needed focus". Then again, though, I didn't think the game was as terrible as a lot of others clearly did.
Let me just state first that I do not like the idea of nor support the notion of a reportedly unalterable save file. However I'm not sure its as awe-inspiringly awful a condition as some have led me to believe. Quite frankly I don't think it would have changed my mind to purchase it if I had been so inclined. Frankly though, that may be easy for me to say since I had no real intention of buying it in the first place. I love RE but this just isn't my cup of tea.

Re: Zelda: Twilight Symphony Soundtrack Available For Pre-Order
@Late
Interesting. I checked the joypad site for some vague specifics. If I hadn't been lazy I should have thought to check for an FAQ.
Re: Zelda: Twilight Symphony Soundtrack Available For Pre-Order
Can someone educate me on how a project like this avoids running into copyright issues?

Huh. I wasn't convinced anyone was ever going to play this game. Glad to see I was wrong and it did get finished.
Re: Reggie Fils-Aime Would Love to See GameCube Games on Wii U Virtual Console
Might not be a bad idea to actually get out a respectable number of N64 games while you are at it.

Ahh Retro City Rampage. I'll believe it is coming out when I'm able to download it (on any platform) and not a second before.
