Re: Review: Pinball (Wii U eShop / NES)

@Philip_J_Reed - Thanks man. I had fun with this one for review, but only in short bursts. I remember it being a ball as a kid!

And to the rest of you mentioning the 3DS, YES, this would be much better on the go. Nice for short bursts of play.

Re: Review: Jewel Adventures (DSiWare)

@Morphtorok - I can't say for certain, but I can say that when the glitches weren't present, the puzzle action was pretty enjoyable. That said, I still wouldn't want anyone to have to go through what I did, so it's hard to award too much praise here. If someone feels compelled to play it, and doesn't mind risking $5, then I'm not going to stop them.

Re: Review: Jewel Adventures (DSiWare)

@Nintendojuenger - Wouldn't beating a puzzle game without challenge compromise the integrity of the experience, as well? And regardless of the classes, the difficulty shouldn't only be present on a single level here and there. It would literally go from being a breeze to play, to one beyond-challenging stage, then right back to being easy as pie. If the classes mean something, they should mean something in a much more substantial manner.

But like I said in the review, take away the glitches, which were obviously much more frequent for me, and you'd have a recommendation. The core gameplay is actually very fun. Those glitches though...man, were they frustrating.

@bezerker99 - Sorry about that, man.

Re: Review: Jewel Adventures (DSiWare)

@True_Hero @Morphtorok That's very, very odd. I played a lot longer than I expected to and it was a common occurrence for me. It didn't matter if I restarted the system, rebooted the game, or exited to the menus; it would always happen at some point. It did happen less on classic mode, though.

@Eisenbolan - A health bar for the enemies would've been very beneficial. Have you been experiencing glitches like I've detailed in this review? They became more common the further I progressed into the game.

Re: Review: Ninja Gaiden II: The Dark Sword of Chaos (3DS eShop / NES)

@XCWarrior - You actually can change the direction you're facing after jumping into the air. I literally just did it about five times in a row in front of my wife who now thinks I'm crazy. Thanks a lot, man. I bet that was your master plan all along.

@Ryno - Dude, I played these games when they were first released for the NES; so it has zero to do with age or experience. The fact is, for the challenge that the game presents, I felt the range of motion given to the player wasn't always quite enough to meet the demand of the situation. I prefer that when I die in a game, I feel that it's my fault, and that wasn't always the case with Ninja Gaiden. That's all.

Re: Review: The Smurfs 2 (Wii U)

Thanks for the comments so far, everyone!

I know I'm jumping in here late, and it's unlikely that many of you will see this, but if you have any questions about the game, feel free to ask away! Just make sure to tag @DRL in the question so I'll see it.

Also, remember that people are entitled to their own opinion. Please respect those that have played the game and have their own personal feelings toward it. If we all liked the same things, we'd live in a pretty boring world - don't forget that.

Re: Review: Undead Bowling (3DS eShop)

@Le_Wario26 Yeah, that's the biggest problem. Had the game been $4.99, it would've been a much easier recommendation. If you're solely looking for something commitment-free, that will keep you entertained for short amounts of time, then this is worth consideration. If not, there are plenty of GREAT downloadable titles for comparable prices that should absolutely be purchased before this one.

Re: Review: Urban Trial Freestyle (3DS eShop)

@DonMigs85 Very weird. I tried this last evening and had no issues. I am also using a US 3DS, but mine is an XL - not sure if that makes a difference. Your best bet is to contact Nintendo to see if they have a solution for you. It really is perplexing. Something odd with the save data, I'd imagine.

Re: Review: Urban Trial Freestyle (3DS eShop)

@Philip_j_reed Thanks, buddy! And I know what you mean, all these eShop games are wreaking havoc on my wallet as well!

@donmigs85 Ya know, I'm fairly certain that I've switched between the two games a few times now, without issue. Do you completely exit ACNL before booting UTF, or do you boot it up while still in game? Wonder if that could make a difference?

Thanks for all the great comments, guys! Glad to see so many of you are getting much enjoyment out of the game.

@Humphries90 Sorry about that. We intended to have it up sooner, but you know how it goes sometimes. Life can be one wild ride!

Re: Retro Studios Working on "One Major Project at a Time"

I don't understand the people who think Tropical Freeze is some simple project. Sure, it's a sequel that follows a basic formula from DKCR, but this has got to be the most meticulously designed platformer I've ever laid eyes on. Seriously, those environments are rendered in 3D and look as detailed and lush as games like Uncharted and Tomb Raider, which is especially incredible because you only see them in 2D majority of the time! Retro Studios astounds me. I can't wait to play, what looks to be, yet another masterpiece.
