Re: We Can't Ignore The Switch, Says Sony's Head Of Corporate Planning

I think this is the ideal situation right now. Sony with the powerful home console and Nintendo with the portable. I think both should be able to exist and thrive side by side. Now if only Microsoft and Steam would merge to make a PC console of sorts all would be good in the land of gaming for years to come.

Pyra > Uka
@Manjushri
How did you find Chronicles on the 3DS? I really enjoyed it on the Wii but I also have it on the 3DS and wonder if it was worth replaying it on the 3DS just for the novelty of playing it on a handheld and if it holds up on the small screen.

Like you I also think XCX is the better game btw.

@Rumncoke25 You should have absolutely no problem jumping straight into XC2. It’s a new story, set in a different world, with all new characters. That said all the Xeno- games are loosely connected and shares many of the same themes both ethical, philosophical, metaphysical and religious among others. XC and XCX also have a similar battle system.

The games in the series that are translated to English (that I know of) are Xenogears (ps1), Xenosaga I-III (ps2), Xenoblade Chronicles (Wii, new3ds), and Xenoblade Chronicles X (Wii U).

Re: Hardware Review: New Nintendo 2DS XL

While attractive I already have an original black 3ds, a red/white 2ds and a white new3ds so I guess I pass. Also after playing bravely default and bravely second I now know that those wouldn't look nearly as good without the 3D effect so yeah. Only thing that could lure me in is the fact that I don't have any "xl" version of this thing but then again I find the screen size of the new3ds to be perfectly fine so it's hard to find an argument for why I should get this. Still kind of want though.

Re: Consumers Go Crazy For Wii U Following Xbox One Reveal

Its a bit sad actually that Microsoft choose to focus on such a trivial use of what is in fact a pretty cool hardware setup for interactive entertainment. If only they can find good ways to use this in games, and I do not mean only in casual games for the family but also as an element in so called hardcore gamers games. I can already think of a couple of ways to use this technology in a lot more exciting ways than changing channels on the tv, that be giving orders to characters on screen or even simple gestures in strategy type games to move large units and stuff, or like in 'the world ends with you' where you shout in the mic to do some special attack only with more specific commands. And this is only conventional use, I guess game developers can find lots of lots of neat ways to use this technology that will give us more exciting ways to play and enjoy our games. (I can actually picture myself enjoying telling Lightning to paradigme shift in FFXIII or Serah to put on some other clothes.)

I don't think that all the "you are the controller" bs actually is the way to go as it usually involves a lot of stupid waving about and that gets old pretty quickly, but more subtle use of the kinect camera, like little touches here and there and there should be a lot of sci-fi ways to use it too.

....you catch my drift. I believe Microsoft can fix this they only need the right ideas and the right people and the Xbox One could really be a contender in the next generation, if they on the other hand keep focusing on the 'fantasy football' and channel surfing stuff, well it might bomb everywhere but America.

Re: Pachter: Wii U Will Sell Between 30 to 50 Million Units During Its Lifetime

I don't think this console generation will be the last at all, the question is more about if there are room for three similar devices in the marked in the future. I do not really see the need for the ps4 and the 720 and if Nintendo should also try to compete there would be three almost identical devices out there, that would just be too much I think. Just look at the ps3/360, I have both and besides a handful of exclusives they are more or less providing the exact same experience to me, its actually pretty stupid. And then you have the android based game/media center consoles coming out this year (Ouya). I think its time for Sony/Microsoft/Nintendo to merge, and just make one super console, that way game devs don't have to split their teams and cost porting games everywhere. Yes I know monopoly can be a bad thing, but this time it will be good.
Imagine the possibilities.
