I like how Tom Kalinske asserts that that Nintendo pressured stores into not carrying the Master System even though there was absolutely zero evidence to confirm at that allegation. Even our justice department ended up never finding any evidence to sustain Sega's allegations.
Interestingly, Tom Kalinske and other Sega of America execs weren't unfamiliar with these types of allegations. As a generation earlier Atari, Coleco, and Mattel made it a business practice to accuse the other of stuff to retailers in hopes getting thier competition yanked from shelves. A practice that Tom most likely engaged in while he was with Atari. Nice projection there, Tom.
Though the control of Rom chips is a puzzling allegation though. Hey Tom, wasn't it brought out out in court documents during your patent infringement case against Accolade that it was revealed that Sega controlled the manufacturing of cartridges as part of the licensing agreement that third parties signed?
Yeah as the years go by I remain firmly convinced that Tom Kalinske was a crap flinging weasel who was more than willing to to use every dirty trick in the book in order to sell consoles.
As a Nintendo gamer, I would have been interested in EA had EA not offered expensive and gimped ports of certain titles that were big on other consoles.
@RainbowGazelle as a Wii U owner, the only middle finger that I see is the one coming from third parties who openly lied about supporting this console. The Wii U was dead the moment that EA took its ball and went home.
@WaxxyOne freedom of speech only protects you against government retaliation in the public square. It does not protect you against consequences of saying stupid stuff privately or on the dime of a private company. Much like how it's not censorship for Nintendo to do what it wants with the translation for fire emblem fates.
@WaxxyOne Except Nintendo sat her down and said that as the PR face of the company in the United States, she needed to cease tweeting her controversial statements on child pornography. The thing is that she didnt, according to her own Twitter feed.
Nintendo had rightfully put her on double secret probation for her behavior and had her axed at the nearest convenient excuse. And I applaud Nintendo for doing. Especially if Nintendo had defended her, Nintendo would have been smeared in the media for defending a person who advocates the possession of child pornography.
@WaxxyOne study after study after study shows that possession of child pornography drives the making of child pornography. Decriminalizing child pornography would only serve to put real life children in danger of serious sexual abuse.
@PlywoodStick Accorde to Rapp's Twitter, Nintendo sat her down after she was hired and told her to stop with her quirky child pornography thing on her Twitter account. She continued any way.
@VelvetElvis the moment Nintendo defended Rapp, it would have been attacked by the Wayne Foundation over allegations of Rapp's support for lowering the age of consent and for her support for decriminalizing the possession of child pornography. Nintendo would have been crucified in the media and the thousands of men and women employed at Nintendo would had their jobs at risk.
In fact, not only do I understand why Nintendo stayed silent l, rather I commend them for doing so.
@NinjaWaddleDee the miiverse code of conduct specifically bans all references to human waste. The mario maker manual specifically says that all uploaded courses must conform to the miiverse code of conduct. It's 100% his fault that his levels got taken down.
@FullbringIchigo Homebrew developers found out that the O3DS simply does not have the hardware power to emulate SNES games without major problems creeping up.
Personally, I'm not a big fan of Paper Mario as an RPG series. So, I could care less what the rabid RPG nutters and pissbabies think. I only care about wether this game looks fun to play. And you know what? It does. If you are really itching for a real successor to Mario Rpg, go play the Mario and Luigi series.
The other thing that should be mentioned is the fact the Game Gear used an early LCD screen. This would make many games nearly unplayable due to rampant motion blur.
There is ZERO evidence the content is locked. The Famitsu article only points out that the Amiibo will work with the dungeon. What you both are doing is attacking Nintendo without any sort of evidence to back up your assertions. And you are relying hearsay and innuendo to further hurt Nintendo in this regard.
@Token_Girl Yet in order to play as knuckles in Sonic 3 you had to buy the other game in order to unlock it and the physics that went along with that game. Again, people are willing to overlook stuff simply because they were on older more popular formats.
@Octane And this is all based on a translation of avague Famitsu article. People were throwing fits when Mario Maker was announced that it would have Amiibo support to unlock costumes and then people went silent when Nintendo confirmed an alternative method to unlock.
@Octane Iwish people would stop being drama queens. The Amiibo aren't expensive. Where I live, I can go down and pick one up at my local walmart. They are stacked to the brim with even the "rare" 30th anniversary Mario maker one. The fact of the matter is that Nintendo is adding some cool features that are purely optional and not necessary for completing the game in order to meet the complete of Amiibo owners who said they wanted more functionality. And we don't even know if there are alternate ways of unlocking it for digital owners.
Holy crap you people sound so entitled. This is what's wrong with the gaming community. But then you are British and you probably applauded Sega for outright poop like Sonic 3 and Knuckles where you had to buy Sonic and Knuckles if you wanted the full features in Sonic 3 for your poopy Megadrive.
It seems this game would have utilized the SNES mouse peripheral. A peripheral that kind of bombed here in the states. I can see why Nintendo ended up shelving Mario Maker for 20 years,
@VanillaLake We don't even know that is true. There is no confirmation whatsoever on that front. Furthermore, it could be like Mario Maker. Holy cow, people are freaking out over nothing.
Most likely this game would have sucked on PC even if it had been given full attention. Most being that platform games tend to not play well when using a standard keyboard or atari-style joystick, especially for precision jumping. I am also wondering if this game would not have run into technical difficulties concerning levels that are sprite intensive.
@simonthomas6 You mean older IPs that nobody really cares about? I mean who is clamoring for are new Golden Axe or Shining Force when they have Fire Emblem?

Re: Talking Point: The Online Reaction to Teddy Together Shows Why Nintendo Needs To Target Kids More Directly
@Indy83 you do realize this is a Bandai Namco game that Nintendo is publishing yes? So why don't you chill out?
Re: Rumour: Sources Go to Battle Again Over Nintendo NX Power
@opeter it wouldn't need more power if it's optimized to run AAA more efficiently. Raw power =/= performance power.
Re: Rumour: Sources Go to Battle Again Over Nintendo NX Power
@opeter except ARM is very easy to port to.

@WaxxyOne dude her tweets argue that possession of pornography involving minors should be decriminalized.

Re: Popular Super Mario Maker Speedrunner and Streamer Has All His Levels Deleted by Nintendo
@PlywoodStick if you want to play definition games...
Poo

excrement.

2.

http://www.dictionary.com/browse/poo?
Re: Popular Super Mario Maker Speedrunner and Streamer Has All His Levels Deleted by Nintendo
@PlywoodStick let's get real here. One of his levels was named "a pile of poo." And he didn't spell it such a way that he wasn't referencing shit.
Re: Popular Super Mario Maker Speedrunner and Streamer Has All His Levels Deleted by Nintendo
@PlywoodStick read further down.
"Mentions of inappropriate or vulgar bodily functions that may make others uncomfortable."
Re: Popular Super Mario Maker Speedrunner and Streamer Has All His Levels Deleted by Nintendo
@PlywoodStick are people just stupid or do they not read the manual anymore?
@doll it's in the miiverse code of conduct.
Re: Popular Super Mario Maker Speedrunner and Streamer Has All His Levels Deleted by Nintendo
@doll it's a violation of the miiverse code of conduct to make references to human bodily waste.

Super Mario Advance 4 and the SG-1000 theme. Gotta complete my Sega home theme collection after all.
